Urban Green Space (UGS) plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of urban ecosystems. In Yogyakarta City, urban development and an increase in population accompanied by a decrease and insufficiency in the proportion of UGS correlate with rising urban temperatures. Monitoring the availability of UGS can serve as a foundation for decision-making in managing the city’s UGS. With advancements in technology and computing in the field of computer Vision (CV), it’s possible to recognize UGS from the geometric patterns of satellite images. This study proposes a vegetation segmentation method using satellite images and a Deep Learning (DL) method with the U-Net architecture to estimate the availability of UGS. Evaluation results show that the image dataset without preprocessing with the Red Green Blue (RGB) color channel gives an average Intersection over Union (IoU) of 80.74%. These results are better than data that underwent grayscaling and contrast stretching preprocessing. Based on a case study conducted in three sub-districts in the Yogyakarta region, the constructed U-Net model gave an average IoU evaluation of 60.88%. These results demonstrate the model’s capability to provide a reference in calculating the UGS area at the sub-district level, which can then be utilized by the Yogyakarta City government to analyze the availability of UGS more efficiently. With this analysis, the government can make strategic decisions to manage UGS and create a sustainable urban environment.

We consider the problem of embedding point cloud data sampled from an underlying manifold with an associated flow or velocity. Such data arises in many contexts where static snapshots of dynamic entities are measured, including in high-throughput biology such as single-cell transcriptomics. Existing embedding techniques either do not utilize velocity information or embed the coordinates and velocities independently, i.e., they either impose velocities on top of an existing point embedding or embed points within a prescribed vector field. Here we present FlowArtist, a neural network that embeds points while jointly learning a vector field around the points. The combination allows FlowArtist to better separate and visualize velocity-informed structures. Our results, on toy datasets and single-cell RNA velocity data, illustrate the value of utilizing coordinate and velocity information in tandem for embedding and visualizing high-dimensional data. © 2023 IEEE.

Diagnosability is an important parameter to measure the fault tolerance of a multiprocessor system. If we only care about the state of a node, instead of doing the global diagnosis, Hsu and Tan proposed the idea of local diagnosis. Chiang and Tan provided an extended star structure to diagnose a node under comparison model. In this work, we evaluate the local diagnosability better by proposing a tree structure around this node. We provide the corresponding algorithm to diagnose the node. Simulation results are presented for different failure probability of a node in the tree and different percentage of faulty nodes in the tree, showing the performance of our algorithm. © 2024 Institute of Information science. Symbolic computation for systems of differential equations is often computationally expensive. Many practical differential models have a form of polynomial or rational ODE system with specified outputs. A basic symbolic approach to analyze these models is to compute and then symbolically process the polynomial system obtained by sufficiently many Lie derivatives of the output functions with respect to the vector field given by the ODE system. In this paper, we present a method for speeding up Gröbner basis computation for such a class of polynomial systems by using specific monomial ordering, including weights for the variables, coming from the structure of the ODE model. We provide empirical results that show improvement across different symbolic computing frameworks and apply the method to speed up structural identifiability analysis of ODE models. © 2024 ACM.

An accurate predictive model of temperature and humidity plays a vital role in many industrial processes that utilize a closed space such as in agriculture and building management. With the exceptional performance of deep learning on time-series data, developing a predictive temperature and humidity model with deep learning is propitious. In this study, we demonstrated that deep learning models with multivariate time-series data produce remarkable performance for temperature and relative humidity prediction in a closed space. In detail, all deep learning models that we developed in this study achieve almost perfect performance with an R value over 0.99. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

People acknowledge innovation as a critical and central factor in increasing economic output and productivity. The phrase disruptive innovation was first familiarized in 1995 and has evolved into a new phenomenon. It exemplifies how a new entrant in a field can eventually compete with the incumbent. Furthermore, many of them may replace them. The study strives to identify the critical factors underlying disruptive innovations. This study employs a systematic literature review strategy and PRISMA meta-analysis. It refers to various reputable data sources from 2013 to 2022. The study included 5,305 articles, analyzed 183 articles that encountered the criteria, and employed 45 appropriate articles. As a result, it encounters six critical factors to disruptive innovation: demand, technology readiness, regulation, labor, external technology, and capital. The proposed formula encapsulates a Success Score for assessing disruptive innovations, integrating various essential factors contributing to success.

In the foodservice industry, time is a crucial factor that impacts both consumers and management. Machine learning (ML) is increasingly used to improve the quality of services through prediction. In this study, we aim to develop a model for predicting meal duration using Random Forest Classification algorithm. The study uses data from the Point-of-Sale (POS) system of a full-service Thai hotpot restaurant, with a focus on two commercial areas in Bangkok. The variables that we used include the branch, the number of customers, the number of items, the day of the week, and the time of the day. As a result, the overall accuracy of the model was 86% and the F1-score was 0.81. The discussion of the potential use of this approach in connection with the existing system in a restaurant could also be beneficial, aiding the restaurant in planning management more efficiently and gaining a better understanding of consumer behavior. This study will discuss the results of the model along with additional perspectives for future work. © 2023 Copyright held by the owner/author(s)

The application of information technology in addition to making internal business processes more effective and efficient, is also to improve customer service. This role is important for companies to maintain the sustainability of information systems as a strategic tool for competitive advantage so system availability is absolutely essential. Research related to the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) needs to be carried out to see the readiness of a corporation to build a backup system in different places and locations. By using the method of factor analysis and regression analysis to form an evaluation model, it will obtain an overview of what factors must be considered and what the current conditions are. The results of the study show that there are Core Technical DRP, Organizational Preparation, and Costing factors which are the main variables in supporting DRP readiness. The conclusion from this study, through these three new factors a mathematical model can be built as a reference for improving DRP implementation in corporations. © 2023 The Authors. Bacteria are microscopic organisms that can be found in many environments. They are abundant and have many roles in our life. Studying bacteria is essential so that we can identify the bacteria that are needed for many industrial applications. However, the main problem is that majority of the bacteria are unculturable, hampering the exploration of bacteria from different environments. Metagenomics approach which employs Next Generation Sequencing technology could help study bacteria by utilizing 16S rRNA marker gene. This study aims to demonstrate data mining and bioinformatics approaches to analyze 16S rRNA sequencing data. The raw sequencing data of 16S rRNA was collected from biological database. Then, the data were trimmed, denoised, and clustered to generate Amplicon Sequence Variants (ASVs). Diversity (alpha and beta) and taxonomic analyses were then conducted to elucidate the bacterial diversity and taxonomic profile of ASVs. The results of this work showed that Shannon and PD indices in China's hot spring were higher than Singapore and the USA. Furthermore, a significant difference was observed in the PD index. The unweighted UniFrac distance also showed there was a significant difference of the bacterial communities between the three locations. In addition, the taxonomic investigation unveiled prevalent bacterial groups in the ecosystem, namely Proteobacteria, Chloroflexi, Cyanobacteria, and Crenarchaeota. The research outcomes have the potential to serve as a foundational resource for subsequent bacterial metagenomic research, particularly the hot spring environment. © 2023 IEEE.

In this study, we created an Intelligent Geospatial Platform called GeoBeeDashboard. The GeoBeeDashboard combines advanced geospatial technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), allowing real-time data visualization and optimized decision-making across multiple sectors. The system architecture consists of a ***-based front end, a FastAPI-driven back end, and PostGIS for geospatial data management. One of the GeoBeeDashboard’s primary use cases is addressing waste management issues in Tangerang City, Indonesia. As rapid urbanization increases waste generation, effective management becomes critical. The dashboard identifies critical trends and inefficiencies in Tangerang’s districts by K-Means clustering waste management data from 2020 to 2023. Our findings identify distinct clusters, highlighting areas with effective waste management and those that require targeted interventions. The benefits that local government can get from GeoBeeDashboard by utilising insights based on clustering analysis of data per each district in Tangerang to optimise waste collection, allocate resources efficiently, and improve the policy-making process for each district in Tangerang. The GeoBeeDashboard improves local government capabilities by providing a scalable model for other cities facing similar urban challenges. In conclusion, GeoBeeDashboard provides local governments with a powerful tool for addressing waste management inefficiencies and fostering sustainable urban development.
