The paper raises an optimal impulsive control problem with trajectories of bounded variation described by a nonsmooth measure differential equation. The addressed singular problem of dynamic optimization can be equivalently transformed to an ordinary terminally constrained optimal control problem of a specific structure. For the transformed problem, we present a new form of nonlocal necessary optimality condition. The condition, named the nonsmooth feedback maximum principle, operates with feedback inputs and performs the property of potential control improvement, while standing within standard objects of the nonsmooth maximum principle. A counter-positive version of the nonsmooth feedback maximum principle performs a conceptual iterative algorithm for optimal control, which can be used for numeric implementation of the optimal impulsive control problem. Since numeric analysis of the transformed model requires its discretization, a major portion of the paper is paid to a discrete-time counterpart of the transformed problem. For this class of optimization problems, a discrete-time version of a nonlocal necessary optimality condition is derived. Based on this optimality condition, an iterative numeric algorithm is developed. © Copyright by the paper's authors.

This paper addresses a rather general fractional optimization problem. There are two ways to reduce the original problem. The first one is to solve the auxiliary problem with nonlinear nonconvex inequality constraints. The second one is a solution of an equation with the optimal value of an auxiliary nonconvex problem with a vector parameter. Both auxiliary problems turn out to be d.c. optimization problems, which allows to apply Global Optimization theory and develop two corresponding global search algorithms that have been tested. © 2017 SLOVENIAN SOCIETY INFORMATIKA. The paper represents a prototype of service-oriented tools for developing digital twins. These tools automate most of the stages in preparing and carrying out a computational experiment reducing the possibility of human error. Computational experiments based on simulation modeling are performed using the proposed tools. As an example in applying the represented tools, a digital twin of a heat pump used as environmentally-friendly equipment of an infrastructure object on the Baikal natural territory is considered. Owing to the growing anthropogenic load, special attention is paid to the objects located at the coast of Lake Baikal. During the simulation modeling, both the heat pump performance characteristics and retrospective meteorological data are used to predict climatic conditions and select optimal control parameters. In addition, the computational experiment has obviously shown that heat pump use significantly reduces the harmful effect on the environment. © 2021 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Facility disruptions or failures may occur due to natural disasters or a deliberate man-made attack. Such an attack is known as interdiction. Recently, facility location problems, addressing intentional strikes against operating facilities and strategies to reduce their impact, have received particular attention. In this paper, we present a new location-interdiction median problem aimed at designing a distribution network which is robust to the worst-case, long-term facility losses. We suppose that there are two players: defender (system designer) and attacker. The defender decides where to locate facilities to minimize the overall cost of supplying the demands of customers. The attacker determines which r facilities to interdict to maximize the cost of serving the customers from the remaining operational facilities. Note that we suppose that the facilities are attacked simultaneously and interdicted facilities become unavailable. We propose bilevel and single-level integer formulations of this problem. For a particular case when the attacker hits a single facility, we develop a fast local search procedure based on implicit enumeration of interdiction strategies. We test our approaches in a series of computational experiments on well-known test problems. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper addresses the nonconvex optimization problem with the cost function and the inequality and equality constraints given by d.c. functions. The problem is reduced to the one without constraints by the exact penalization. Furthermore, the penalized problem is a d.c. minimization problem. For the latter problem we develop the Global Optimality Conditions (GOCs) which reduce the nonconvex optimization problem to a family of convex (linearized with respect to the basic nonconvexity) problems. © 2017 SLOVENIAN SOCIETY INFORMATIKA. This paper addresses the problems of fractional programming which data is given by d.c. functions. Such problems are, in general, nonconvex (with numerous local extrema). We develop an efficient global search method for fractional program based on two different approaches. The first approach develops the Dinkelbach's idea and uses a solution of an equation with the optimal value of an auxiliary d.c. optimization problem with a vector parameter. The second one deals with another auxiliary problem with nonconvex inequality constraints. Both auxiliary problems are d.c. optimization problems, which allows us to apply the Global Optimization theory and develop two corresponding global search algorithms. The algorithms have been substantiated and tested on an extended set of sum-of-ratios problems with up to 200 variables and 200 terms in the sum. Also we propose an algorithm for solving problems of fractional programming, which combines the two approaches. © Copyright by the paper's authors.

In recent years, a significant amount of research is focused on the development of tools for creating composite web-services for solving both business and scientific complex problems. This study discusses tools for building compositions or ensembles of microservices (depending on the method of integration) developed based on the HPCSOMAS framework. These tools are oriented on the application in a package of applied microservices for solving computationally complex problems of structural analysis and parametric synthesis of controlled dynamic systems in a heterogeneous high-performance computing environment. In particular, binary dynamic systems are studied using the Boolean constraint method for both their qualitative analysis and synthesis of laws to control these systems. Creating and executing composite services is carried out on a semantic peer-to-peer network of agents. The HPCSOMAS framework supports two modes of these processes, both the static creation and application of a composite service based on the procedural formulation of the problem and dynamic, based on the declarative formulation. In the first case, agents deployed on the network perform hierarchical control over the execution of the composition of microservices, in the second case, decentralized asynchronous management of the ensemble of microservices. Both operating modes are automated, and the validity of the resulting composite service is checked based on a logical approach. The tools are aimed both at a professional programmer and the end-user, a specialist in the subject domain. The HPCSOMAS framework supports the execution of composite microservices in a hybrid computing infrastructure, which includes both cloud and on-premises resources. The paper discusses the problem of preparing a computing environment for large-scale scientific experiments in the process of continuous integration of applied and system software. A comparative analysis of software configuration management tools (such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, and SaltStack) of computational nodes in a heterogeneous environment is being performed. These tools are intended for automating the configuration of different nodes. Such automation reduces the setup time of nodes and increases the reliability of computations by minimizing the number of software and hardware failures, associated with the human factor in the manual configuration process. For the development of scientific applications, the Orlando Tools framework is used. Based on the results of the comparative analysis and requirements of this framework, the Ansible framework was selected for further integration into the chain of continuous integration of applied and system software. Practical experiments have shown the advantages of using Ansible in comparison with other systems of a similar purpose. Copyright © 2020 for this paper by its authors. The study outlines the concept of the structure of heat sources of developing heating systems and states the problem of searching through structures of heat sources of maximum redundancy for the optimal one. As one of the techniques of solving this problem, the authors propose to split the process of designing heating systems into multiple stages. Within the scope of the above-stated problem, the difficult part is the need to create an automated system to solve the entirety of problems arising at these stages and to reconcile them with each other. We provide a brief overview of the the available software package that we propose to integrate into the process of solving and we underline the complex nature of the interaction of individual software components between each other. The authors propose an approach in the form of the computational experiment setup that enables to consistently coordinate computational procedures with each other. The approach is based on the concept of the energy hub as its theoretical backbone, while in terms of the software implementation it is an instance of an automated information system. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd.

The main objective of qualitative research is to analyze the behavior of the trajectories of a dynamic system to verify whether it corresponds to the set of constraints characterizing the property. We use an approach to study binary dynamic systems on a finite time interval based on the author's method of Boolean constraints. Based on this method, the Boolean model of the properties of a binary dynamic system is written in the language of Boolean equations or Boolean formulas with quantifiers. Thus, the verification of various dynamical properties is reduced to solving the problems of Boolean constraints satisfiability or the validity of a quantified Boolean formula using efficient SAT or TQBF solvers. The high computational complexity of these problems requires the development of software and tools for their parallel and distributed solving and ensuring transparent end-user access to high-performance computing environments based on a service-oriented approach. This paper represents the architecture and functionality of a new instrumental system that automates the creation of a distributed application for solving the considered class of problems based on the microservice approach and multi-agent technology.
