The method for controlling a DC-DC converter is proposed to ensures the high quality control at large fluctuations in load currents by using differential gain control coefficients and second derivative control. Various implementations of balancing the currents of a multiphase DC-DC converter are discussed, with a focus on achieving accurate current regulation without introducing additional delay in the control system. Stochastic particle swarm optimization method is used to find optimal values of the PID controller parameters. An automatic constraint-handling in optimization are also discussed as relevant techniques in the field.

The problem of automatic defect recognition and classification for vision systems development is addressed. The main objectives of such systems are defect recognition and classification based on known features. The classification function is designed using cluster analysis. Two stages approach is proposed. On the first offline stage of classification a teaching process has been employed. On the second online stage inspection image is classified using its features comparison with the closest medians in real time. Comparative analysis with the state-of-the-art classification methods has demonstrated an efficiency of the proposed approach. Examples described here relate specifically to semiconductor industry but can be adopted to other manufacturing processes.

The main purpose of the paper is to study the asymptotic behavior of reachable sets to linear time-invariant impulsive control systems. The issue is analyzed within the framework of shapes of reachable sets. This approach enables an exhaustive description of attractors arising in the space of shapes and the related dynamics. The results are compared with (Ovseevich, 1991; Figurina and Ovseevich, 1999).

Model-based control of biotechnological processes is, in general, challenging. Often the processes are complex, nonlinear, and uncertain. Hence modeling tends to be complex and is often inaccurate. For this reason, non-model-based control strategies developed via fask, bench-scale, or pilot plant experiments are often applied in the biotechnology industry. Model-based control and optimization techniques can increase processes’ performance and automation level, thereby decreasing costs and guaranteeing the desired specifications. These rely on a model of the process to make predictions and optimize the inputs to the plant. To improve the quality of the models, it is often helpful to use combined first principle and data-driven models together in a hybrid modeling approach which increases the model prediction capabilities. The residual uncertainty of the hybrid model should be taken into account in the control level to satisfy the process specifications and constraints. This paper proposes to use a stochastic model predictive control scheme that exploits a hybrid, Gaussian processes-based model. We outline the effectiveness of the stochastic model-based approach in combination with a suitable Kalman filter for state estimation considering an example biotechnological process. Furthermore, we underline that appropriate tools exist that allow the simple application of such methods even for the novice user. To do so, we use an open-source Python package — HILO-MPC, which allows the simple yet efficient formulation and solution of machine learning-supported optimal control and estimation problems.

The intention of this paper is the analysis of general concepts for preferential crystallisation with the focus on aspects of quantification. In this preliminary examination, the amino acid threonine was used as a model system. The use of on-line polarimetry in combination with on-line densimetry as well as microscopic investigation enables to obtain some indispensable information about the crystallisation kinetics. Taking these estimated values into consideration a simplified mathematical description as a first approach including a population balance model was established for the simulation of the time changes of liquid phase composition during the preferential crystallisation process. Based on this simplified model different crystalliser configurations were investtigated.

The contribution of pseudoscalar and axial-vector mesons to hyperfine structure of muonic hydrogen

In the framework of the quasipotential method in quantum electrodynamics we calculate the contribution of light pseudoscalar (PS) and axial-vector (AV) mesons to the interaction operator of a muon and a proton in muonic hydrogen atom. The coupling of mesons with the muon is via two-photon intermediate state. The parametrization of the transition form factor of two photons into PS and AV mesons, based on the experimental data on the transition form factors and QCD asymptotics, is used. Numerical estimates of the contributions to the hyperfine structure of the spectrum of the S and P levels are presented. It is shown that such contribution to the hyperfine splitting in muonic hydrogen is rather important for a comparison with precise experimental data. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. In the article a conceptual approach towards the computation of polyhedral approximations of the reachable set of an impulsive dynamic control system is presented. This method consists in computing a sufficiently large number of points close to the boundary of the reachable set by regarding each one as the value at the final time of the optimal state trajectory for an optimal impulsive control problem with a certain linear cost functional. The iterative algorithm used to solve the optimal impulsive control problem involves its implicit transformation into a conventional one by the so called reduction transformation method. The auxiliary reduced problem is solved by an improvement algorithm based on local approximations to the reachable set.

The software development process is represented as propagation of the differences (modifications) within a set of models representing the software under development. The theory of system of complexes (configurations) is used to represent the model set of the software under development. The target of the research is to construct an approach to describe the process of the difference propagation as a basis of a corresponding instrumental environment for software development. The work extends the present MDA (Model Driven Architecture) approach.

The pauli form factor of quark and nontrivial topological structure of the QCD

We calculate the electromagnetic Pauli form factor of quark induced by the nontrivial topological fluctuations of QCD vacuum called instantons. It is shown that such contribution is significant. We discuss the possible implications of our result in the photon-hadron reactions and in the dynamics of quark-photon interactions in the dense/hot quark matter. Copyright © 2017, The Authors.
