We propose the agent-based approach to intellectualize data processing and analysis in modeling the operations of interconnected microgrids. Microgrids are modern energy systems with a large share of environmentally friendly and resource-saving equipment. The modeling of different aspects for the organization and operation of microgrids is relevant for their structural and parametric optimization. The study of these aspects in the interaction of microgrids deserves special attention. In this case, it becomes possible to take into account the synergistic effect in the distribution and consumption of electric power. We implement the modeling process using a multi-agent system. In this regard, we describe the structure of this system, methods of its construction, and goals and processes of agent operations. In addition, we provide a model of agent behavior developed based on the basis of a finite-state control machine. The advantages of the proposed approach are demonstrated on a model example of balancing generation and consumption of electric power.

In this paper, we propose a technique for increasing the accuracy of modeling nonlinear dynamics of input-output systems using finite segments (polynomials) of Volterra integral power series. We highlight a case when the Volterra kernel identification problem is solved. The linear part of the Volterra polynomials of power N is formed as an equivalent continued fraction. Assuming that the corresponding Volterra kernel is known with some error, such an approach allows us to obtain a model with a new linear part that depends on the error. At the same time, prognostic properties of the integral model can be improved by the using the connection coefficient. The problem of indentifying such a parameter was solved using a special extremal problem. We analyzed the performance of the approach for some dynamic systems. Tests examples were used to compare our approach with the known modeling method that employs a series of Volterra polynomials whose transient responses are tuned to different test signal heights. © 2023 IEEE.

We present a robust, parallel primal-dual heuristic algorithm for the k-medoids clustering problem, a widely utilized method in data mining and machine learning. Our approach surpasses current algorithms by effectively addressing their limitations, such as time-consuming distance matrix calculations, inefficient nearest-neighbor searches, and difficulties in handling large-scale datasets. To overcome these challenges, we employ an efficient parallel implementation, combined with a pioneering subgradient search algorithm. We evaluate our algorithm on the BIRCH and Stanford Dog datasets and demonstrate its superiority over existing k-medoids clustering algorithms in terms of solution quality and run time. Additionally, we introduce a novel vectorization technique that enables our algorithm to handle various types of data, such as images, text, and point data. Overall, our work contributes to the field of data mining and machine learning by providing an efficient and effective solution for the k-medoids clustering problem. The proposed algorithm offers improved performance, and versatility, making it a valuable tool for a wide range of applications. © 2023 IEEE.

Personnel scheduling is an active research field motivated by not only economic considerations but also the understanding of importance of improving working conditions and fairness in assigning employees to tasks. A large number of daily tasks and an expanding staff require effective automation of the task allocation process. In the problem under consideration, given sets of tasks and staff, it is required to assign the certain number of employees to each task, taking into account their skills. The goal is to minimize penalties induced by conflicting assignments as well as by uneven workload of the staff. To solve the problem, a two-phase heuristic consisting of a greedy heuristic followed by a randomize tabu search has been developed. Computational experiments shows that the proposed approach allows us to find optimal or near-optimal solutions on instances corresponding to real-life problems. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

We address a variation of the multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling problem motivated by the need to find a quality schedule for the construction activities related to rolling-out a large network of mobile stations. The network roll-out (NRO) is a complex industrial project aimed at deploying a set of mobile stations in certain region. This requires attracting a set of contractors, who can provide worker teams that have skills to execute specific project activities depending on their type. The problem also involves some additional specific industrial requirements related to how the contractors’ workload should be distributed during the project duration (workload stability constraints). Other important industrial constraints are the precedence redundancy constraints on the project activities. We formulate this problem as a mixed-integer linear program that can be viewed as a disaggregated time-indexed integer programming formulation with pulse variables. To find quality feasible solutions of the problem, we propose a two-phase MIP heuristic consisting of (i) a relax-and-fix heuristic followed by (ii) a large neighborhood search. The effectiveness of the proposed solution approach is demonstrated in extensive computational experiments on real world problem instances. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this article, in the context of the Boolean satisfiability problem (SAT), the question of speeding up the SAT solvers on specific input formulas is considered. The speedup is achieved using the CNF preprocessing algorithm which is based on the use of decision diagrams of a special kind, called Disjunctive Diagrams. These diagrams allow one to naturally test some sets of partial variable assignments and add more stringent constraints to the original formula. Several families of SAT instances are considered and used to compare the solving time before and after preprocessing, including a selection of tests from the "SAT Competition 2021"and some tests related to the problem of checking the equivalence of Boolean *** experiments have shown that for hard instances in more than half of the cases the proposed preprocessing algorithm can speed up the solving time of considered CNFs. © 2022 Croatian Society MIPRO.

In this paper, we propose a matrix-vector Boolean differential model for constructing plans of computational actions in solving non-procedural problems on a computational model of a modular software system. The conditions of the problem of structural synthesis of a program from pre-implemented modules are formulated as a system of Boolean differential equations, the solutions of which, under given initial conditions (consistent with the non-procedural formulation of the problem), determine the solvability of the problem and give constructive plans for its solution (including parallel ones). The proposed method of structural synthesis is focused on high-dimensional models. It allows highly efficient software implementation due to the high parallelism of performing vector-matrix operations on binary vectors at the level of machine instructions. The developed model is used for planning computations in packages of applied microservices based on the HPCSOMAS-MSC platform.

The paper considers the use of case-based reasoning to support decisions for choosing a vacation destination. The use case model and algorithm for their search and extraction are defined. The case model includes a description of the features of tourist attractions, accommodation facilities, public catering establishments, and services. The features of the model have quantitative, qualitative, interval, and semantic similarity values. Scales for measurement features describing cost and distance are individual and defined by a tourist. The similarity between tourists’ reviews and preferences is assessed based on semantic similarity and sentiment calculated using the BERT multilingual neural network model. The similarity of cases is assessed based on the k-d tree (k-dimensional tree) method, which takes into account interval and text data types. The proposed approach is implemented on the *** cloud platform and is tested in the Baikal natural territory using data collected from open sources. Inverting Cryptographic Hash Functions via Cube-and-Conquer

MD4 and MD5 are fundamental cryptographic hash functions proposed in the early 1990s. MD4 consists of 48 steps and produces a 128-bit hash given a message of arbitrary finite size. MD5 is a more secure 64-step extension of MD4. Both MD4 and MD5 are vulnerable to practical collision attacks, yet it is still not realistic to invert them, i.e., to find a message given a hash. In 2007, the 39-step version of MD4 was inverted by reducing to SAT and applying a CDCL solver along with the so-called Dobbertin’s constraints. As for MD5, in 2012 its 28-step version was inverted via a CDCL solver for one specified hash without adding any extra constraints. In this study, Cube-and-Conquer (a combination of CDCL and lookahead) is applied to invert step-reduced versions of MD4 and MD5. For this purpose, two algorithms are proposed. The first one generates inverse problems for MD4 by gradually modifying the Dobbertin’s constraints. The second algorithm tries the cubing phase of Cube-and-Conquer with different cutoff thresholds to find the one with the minimum runtime estimate of the conquer phase. This algorithm operates in two modes: (i) estimating the hardness of a given propositional Boolean formula;(ii) incomplete SAT solving of a given satisfiable propositional Boolean formula. While the first algorithm is focused on inverting step-reduced MD4, the second one is not area-specific and is therefore applicable to a variety of classes of hard SAT instances. In this study, 40-, 41-, 42-, and 43-step MD4 are inverted for the first time via the first algorithm and the estimating mode of the second algorithm. Also, 28-step MD5 is inverted for four hashes via the incomplete SAT solving mode of the second algorithm. For three hashes out of them, it is done for the first time. © 2024 The Authors.
