Perhaps, PDF is the most popular format to share non-editable documents. PDF documents are often untagged. In particular, this means that positions and the cell structure of tables are not designated explicitly. PDF table detection predicts bounding boxes of tables on document pages. Some of the predictions inevitably happen to be false. This negatively affects the accuracy of table structure recognition. We argue that the page layout analysis in pre- and post-processing can refine the table detection. We suggest pre-processing algorithms for the recognition of headings, running titles, paragraphs, and images in PDF pages. This allows selecting areas of interest inside pages where real tables can be placed. Then we use deep neural networks to predict tables only in these areas. We also propose post-processing algorithms to verify predictions and filter out false table candidates after table detection. Our empirical study shows that the proposed approach reduces errors in the table detection and improve the PDF table extraction overall.

We address an inverse problem for a dynamical system in the space of probability measures, namely, the problem of restoration of the time-evolution of a probability distribution from certain given statistical information. The dynamics of the distribution is described by a nonlocal continuity equation in the Wasserstein space of probability measures. For the simplest version of this problem, associated with a toy one-dimensional model of traffic flow, we derive a necessary optimality condition and design, on its base, a numerical algorithm of the type of gradient descent. We also discuss some technical aspects of the realization of the elaborated algorithm, and present the results of computational experiments implementing an eloquent numeric scenario.

The approach is based upon declarative specifications of database applications (SDA). The specifications of database applications contain all the information about database structure, which is required to build a typical AIS (automated information system). The information is represented in its pure form, so the specifications are rather concise. The AIS'es are implemented using general algorithms, which are directed by the specifications. We have developed algorithms for such tasks as: user interface generation, query building, report generation, GIS interaction. Using the specifications of database applications and the algorithms the software system GeoARM was implemented. The technology considered was well-tried by use of the system GeoARM for development of several dozens of true-life AIS for different purposes.

Abstract We consider an optimal control problem for an impulsive hybrid dynamic system, where jumps of a trajectory may occur only at the moments of hitting a given closed set. A time reparameterization technique is applied to reduce the original problem to the one with bounded controls. We show that the reparameterized problem is equivalent to optimization in a class of generalized solutions to the impulsive hybrid system. Necessary conditions for optimality of generalized control processes are obtained by interpreting the Maximum Principle in the reduced problem.
