Supervisory control reconfiguration has been paid more attention due to its capacity of handling the uncertainties including resource failures, capability degradation, and task changes in discrete event systems. However, the robustness of closed-loop systems in response to some specification changes was not addressed in the prior studies. This paper presents a reconfiguration method based on Petri nets and integer programming for supervisory control of resource allocation systems with changeable resource allocation relationships (control specifications). First, we propose a reconfiguration mechanism. It updates the P-invariant-based supervisor and evolves the state of the closed-loop system. The latter adapts to the certain changes in specifications by the self-regulation of the closed-loop system's state. It utilizes fully the robustness in a closed-loop system and avoids unnecessary modification of a supervisor. Then, a reconfiguration model with robustness analysis is proposed based on integer programming. By using it, a firing sequence of transitions as a serial of reconfiguration actions can be found. The execution of the sequence implements the state evolution of a closed-loop system. There is no need for making additional efforts to analyze state reachability of the system, since the firability condition of transitions is incorporated into the model. Finally, the method is illustrated through an example of a hospital emergency service system. © 2013 IEEE.

The principal objective of this work consists in reducing the chattering phenomenon and ensuring more improvement of performances the proposed control scheme especially ensuring the decoupling between the control of the two principle variables of the motor “speed and flux” and also the system's robustness towards parameter's variations and external perturbations. In fact and as a first step a control scheme based on the combination of feedback linearization control is first proposed. Then, and in order to ensure more robustness of the process towards parameter's variations and external perturbation...ect, sliding mode controllers are used. These controllers are based on a piecewise function for smoothing in order to reduce the effect of the chattering phenomenon which is harmful of the actuator. However, this smooth function is relied closely to the upper bound of uncertainties, which include parameter variations and external disturbances. So, fuzzy sliding mode controllers are investigated to solve this difficulty based on the method introduced by Ben-Galia et al. By replacing the gain and the signum of the attractivity function of sliding mode controllers by fuzzy maps. However, it seems that this technique couldn't reduced the chattering considerably which let the authors to propose another type of controllers based on Gaussian Radial Basis Function Neural Network (GRBFNN) which revealed some very interesting features and prove that such controllers are efficients to attempt the required objectives.

In this paper, it is shown that, through the use of model- integrated program synthesis (MIPS), parallel real-time implementations of image processing data flows can be synthesized from high level graphical specifications. The complex details in inherent to parallel and real-time software development become transparent to the programmer, enabling the cost-effective exploitation of parallel hardware for building more flexible and powerful real-time imaging systems. The model integrated real-time image processing system (MIRTIS) is presented as an example. MIRTIS employs the multigraph architecture (MGA), a framework and set of tools for building MIPS systems, to generate parallel real-time image processing software which runs under the control of a parallel run-time kernel on a network of Texas Instruments TMS320C40 DSPs (C40s). The MIRTIS models contain graphical declarations of the image processing computations to be performed, the available hardware resources, and the timing constraints of the application. The MIRTIS model interpreter performs the parallelization, scaling, and mapping of the computations to the resources automatically or determines that the timing constraints cannot be met with the available resources. MIRTIS is a clear example of how parallel real-time image processing systems can be built which are (1) cost-effectively programmable, (2) flexible, (3) scalable, and (4) built from commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components. ©2005 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

Among the most significant technological developments of the last two decades has been the proliferation of computer-based systems (CBSs). These systems embed software to create "smart" tools and products. In CBSs, functional, performance and reliability requirements mandate a tight integration of information processing and physical processes. Embedded information technology is critical to overall system performance. CBSs include a wide range of applications, such as computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) systems, space systems, computerized vehicles, appliances, consumer electronics equipment, and a wide variety of systems in health care, transportation defense, communication, and power generation and distribution.

In a competitive market, manufacturing enterprises require a process of continuous on-going improvement in order to maintain and enhance productivity and a competitive edge. The use of Information systems (IS) has been increasingly playing a critical role in any such engineering process. The primary drivers are efficiency and quality increase through automation facilitation of better business processes and improved decision making. The engineering process involves use of an IS for collection of relevant production data, visualization, analysis and decision making. Many problems and issues relating to the design, development, integration, evolution and maintenance of ISs in large-scale and complex plants have become apparent which are not adequately addressed by the traditional Process Monitoring and Control (PM&C) systems. Model Integrated computing (MIC) offers a feasible approach towards providing cost-effective development, integration, evolution and maintenance of ISs through the extensive use of models during the life cycle. This paper describes the application of MIC in the engineering process for improving productivity in the context of discrete manufacturing operations at Saturn. The Saturn Site Production Flow (SSPF) system is a client-server application, designed to provide an integrated problem-solving environment. It presents consistent and pertinent information, provides analysis and decision support services that are needed for informed decision making by the team members and leaders within Saturn.

The paper describes a model-integrated program synthesis environment for computer-based system applications. In model-integrated program synthesis (MIPS), domain-specific, multiple-view models represent the software, its environment and their relationships. Model interpreters translate the models into the input languages of static and dynamic analysis tools, and application specific model interpreters synthesize software applications. The components of the system are built in the framework of the layered multigraph architecture, which separates the generic and domain/application specific components, and defines interfaces for expandability.

Fault detection, isolation and recovery (FDIR) functions are essential components of complex engineering systems. The design, validation, implementation, deployment and maintenance of FDIR systems are extremely information intensive tests requiring in-depth knowledge of the engineering system. The paper gives an overview of a model-integrated toolset supporting FDIR from design, into post deployment. The toolset is used for development of large, complex spacecraft systems during the engineering design phase.

The architecture of ACE, a multiprocessor analogic cellular neural network (CNN) emulator engine consisting of 2 to 16 TMS320C40 floating point DSPs is introduced. The engine containing up to 512 Mbyte RAM (enough to store a 512/spl times/512/spl times/512 sized CNN cube) which can be controlled through its SCSI port. It can either accelerate the multilayer CNN simulator CNNM or be accessed directly from the high level, C-based analogic CNN language ACL to achieve the simulation speed of /spl sim/2.8 /spl mu/sec/cell/iteration/DSP for 3/spl times/3 linear templates.

The design, implementation and deployment of computer applications tightly integrated with complex, changing environments is a difficult task. This paper presents the Multigraph Architecture (MGA) developed for building complex embedded systems. The MGA is a meta-level architecture which includes tools and methods to create domain specific model integrated program synthesis environments. These environments support the integrated modeling of systems independently from their implementation, include tools for model analysis and application specific model interpreters for the synthesis of executable programs.
