Background: Although numerous prediction models have been used to assess the incidence of myocardial infarction (MI) in hypertensive patients, there are rare models using unstructured text from electronic medical record (EMR) based machine learning model. Objectives: The aim of this study was to develop EMR-based models for predicting the occurrence of MI in patients with ***: From Jan 2013 to Dec 2019, a total of 24454 patients with hypertension admitted in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were screened in this retrospective longitudinal observation cohort. Finally, 14755 patients without previous myocardial infarction at the admission were enrolled and randomized into training and validation test sets in a 3:1 ratio. The model validated in the external data set from three community hospital, inculding 1000 hypertensive patients. The EMR unstructured text including imaging findings, as well as clinical information including demographic information and laboratory test results were used to develop a regression model using a eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) to predict the incidence of MI. Furthermore, the performance of XGBoost was compared with that of the C4.5 Decision Tree, COX regression model, and Random forest (RF).Results: Overall, the proportion of MI was 1.2% (175 of 14755). The precision and F1-score in predicting MI reached 83.06% and 82.26%, respectively. The overall area under curve (AUC) for XGBoost model was 80.06% (95% CI: 74.03%-83.0%) in internal data set and 71.5%(95% CI: 63.3%-86.2%) in external data set. The precision of our model is better than that of the C4.5 Decision Tree, COX regression model, and RF. Conclusion: Our results suggest that our machine learning model had acceptable discrimination and well applied at clinical decision thresholds for MI prediction in hypertensive patients. © 2025, The Authors. A key open question in the study of layered superconducting nickelate films is the role that hydrogen incorporation into the lattice plays in the appearance of the superconducting state. Due to the challenges of stabilizing highly crystalline square planar nickelate films, films are prepared by the deposition of a more stable parent compound which is then transformed into the target phase via a topotactic reaction with a strongly reducing agent such as CaH2. Recent studies, both experimental and theoretical, have introduced the possibility that the incorporation of hydrogen from the reducing agent into the nickelate lattice may be critical for the superconductivity. In this work, we use secondary ion mass spectrometry to examine superconducting La1-xXxNiO2/SrTiO3 (X = Ca and Sr) and Nd6Ni5O12/NdGaO3 films, along with non-superconducting NdNiO2/SrTiO3 and (Nd,Sr)NiO2/SrTiO3. We find no evidence for extensive hydrogen incorporation across a broad range of samples, including both superconducting and non-superconducting films. Theoretical calculations indicate that hydrogen incorporation is broadly energetically unfavorable in these systems, supporting our conclusion that hydrogen incorporation is not generally required to achieve a superconducting state in layered square-planar nickelates. © 2024, CC BY.

Topologically structured matter, such as metasurfaces and metamaterials, have given rise to impressive photonic functionality, fuelling diverse applications from microscopy and holography to encryption and communication. Presently these solutions are limited by their largely static nature and preset functionality, hindering applications that demand dynamic photonic systems with reconfigurable topologies. Here we demonstrate a universal optical modulator that implements topologically tuneable structured matter as virtual pixels derived from cascading low functionality tuneable devices, altering the paradigm of phase and amplitude control to encompass arbitrary spatially varying retarders in a synthetic structured matter device. Our approach opens unprecedented functionality that is user-defined with high flexibility, allowing our synthetic structured matter to act as an information carrier, beam generator, analyser, and corrector, opening an exciting path to tuneable topologies of light and matter. With the rapid development of connecting massive devices to the Internet, especially for remote areas without cellular network infrastructures, space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGINs) emerge and offload computation-intensive tasks. In this paper, we consider a SAGIN, where multiple low-earthorbit (LEO) satellites providing connections to the cloud server, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and nearby base stations (BSs) providing edge computing services are included. The UAV flies along a fixed trajectory to collect tasks generated by Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and forwards these tasks to a BS or the cloud server for further processing. To facilitate efficient processing, the UAV needs to decide where to offload as well as the proportion of offloaded tasks. However, in practice, due to the variability of environment and actual demand, the amount of arrival tasks is uncertain. If the deterministic optimization is utilized to develop offloading strategy, unnecessary system overhead or higher task drop rate may occur, which severely damages the system robustness. To address this issue, we characterize the uncertainty with a data-driven approach, and formulate a distributionally robust optimization problem to minimize the expected energy-constrained system latency under the worst-case probability distribution. Furthermore, the distributionally robust latency optimization algorithm is proposed to reach the suboptimal solution. Finally, we perform simulations on the realworld data set, and compare with other benchmark schemes to verify the efficiency and robustness of our proposed algorithm. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. Digital behavior change interventions (DBCIs) such as “just-in-time” adaptive interventions (JITAIs) have demonstrated efficacy for increasing physical activity behavior. However, the effectiveness of these interventions is heavily dependent upon user engagement. Despite the inherent dynamic nature of engagement, as it varies over time based on an individual’s changing environment, context, and psychological state, the current understanding of engagement primarily comes from static snapshots of the behavior. The availability of intensive longitudinal data from JITAIs provides a unique opportunity to build and test dynamic models of behavior change from a process systems lens, relying on prediction-error methods from system identification. However, data missingness is a significant practical consideration in this process. Therefore, in this work we address missingness using a Bayesian imputation approach, which we evaluate using data from the HeartSteps II JITAI. Ultimately, the methods presented support the discovery of key factors that impact engagement behavior over time and can play an important role in the development of large-scale personalized interventions.

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) can significantly save the energy consumption of small-cell base stations(SBSs) by using Dynamic Voltage Scaling (DVS) technology. In this paper, we study how to reduce energy consumption of SBSs by using DVS technology. We propose a scheme to divide base station groups in wireless MEC network, and SBSs in the same base station group collaboratively process tasks. For cooperating tasks in a base station group, we propose a task-offloading strategy, which can effectively reduce the energy consumption of the base station groups. We use Task-offloading Decision Algorithm (TDA) to decide the number of task fragments allocated to each SBSs in the base station group. For processing task fragments in the task queue of SBSs, we propose a computing resource allocation scheme, and we can get the processing time of every task fragments in the task queue by Task Fragments Processing Algorithm (TFPA). Experimental results show that the task-offloading strategy and computing source allocation scheme can reduce the energy consumption by 30%-40% in a cellular network composed of 100 base stations.

Industrial Scene Text Detection with Refined Feature-attentive Network

Detecting the marking characters of industrial metal parts remains challenging due to low visual contrast, uneven illumination, corroded surfaces, and cluttered background of metal part images. Affected by these factors, bounding boxes generated by most existing methods could not locate low-contrast text areas very well. In this paper, we propose a refined feature-attentive network (RFN) to solve the inaccurate localization problem. Specifically, we first design a parallel feature integration mechanism to construct an adaptive feature representation from multi-resolution features, which enhances the perception of multi-scale texts at each scale-specific level to generate a high-quality attention map. Then, an attentive proposal refinement module is developed by the attention map to rectify the location deviation of candidate boxes. Besides, a re-scoring mechanism is designed to select text boxes with the best rectified location. To promote the research towards industrial scene text detection, we contribute two industrial scene text datasets, including a total of 102156 images and 1948809 text instances with various character structures and metal parts. Extensive experiments on our dataset and four public datasets demonstrate that our proposed method achieves the state-of-the-art performance. Background: To enhance postoperative patient survival, particularly in older adults, understanding the predictors of mortality following hip fracture becomes paramount. Air pollution, a prominent global environmental issue, has been linked to heightened morbidity and mortality across a spectrum of diseases. Nevertheless, the precise impact of air pollution on hip fracture outcomes remains elusive. Objective: This retrospective study aims to comprehensively investigate the profound influence of a decade-long exposure to 12 diverse air pollutants on the risk of post–hip fracture mortality among older Taiwanese patients (older than 60 years). We hypothesized that enduring long-term exposure to air pollution would significantly elevate the 1-year mortality rate following hip fracture surgery. Methods: From Taiwan’s National Health Insurance research Database, we obtained the data of patients who underwent hip fracture surgery between July 1, 2003, and December 31, 2013. Using patients’ insurance registration data, we estimated their cumulative exposure levels to sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), particulate matter having a size of <10 μm (PM10), particulate matter having a size of <2.5 μm (PM2.5), nitrogen oxides (NOX), nitrogen monoxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), total hydrocarbons (THC), nonmethane hydrocarbons (NMHC), and methane (CH4). We quantified the dose-response relationship between these air pollutants and the risk of mortality by calculating hazard ratios associated with a 1 SD increase in exposure levels over a decade. With the explosive growth of mobile data, the demand of high-speed railway (HSR) passengers for broadband wireless access services urgently needs the support of ultra-high-speed scenario broadband wireless communication. Millimeter-wave (mmWave) can achieve high data transmission rates, but it is accompanied by high propagation loss and vulnerability to blockage. To address this issue, developments of directional antennas and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) enhance the robustness of the mmWave train-ground communication system. In this paper, we propose a UAV and MRs relay assistance (UMRA) algorithm to effectively overcome link blockage, which can maximize the number of transmission flows on the premise of meeting QoS requirements and channel qualities. First, we formulate a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem for UAV trajectory design and transmission scheduling in the full-duplex (FD) mode. Then, in UMRA, the relay decision algorithm and transmission scheduling algorithm based on graph theory are proposed, which make a good tradeoff between computation complexity and system performance. Extensive simulation results show that a suitable UAV position will greatly improve the performance of the UMRA algorithm and make it close to the optimal solution. Compared with the other two existing benchmark schemes, with the high channel quality requirements and large-area blockage, UMRA can greatly improve the number of completed flows and system throughput.
