3D printing is a different term for additive manufacturing. Since the early 1980s, it has been utilized in the automobile and aviation sectors. By using additive manufacturing in practice, it is possible to build prototypes of high-volume industrial parts for testing purposes and the necessary geometries in order to optimize materials and costs. Using thermoplastic materials that are extruded, FDM technology is one of the most comprehensive forms of additive manufacturing. When using FDM manufacturing, the best parameter selection greatly affects the printed part's mechanical characteristics and print quality. Lattice structures are repeating patterns that, when connected, form three-dimensional shapes. They are employed in 3D printing to create lightweight structures with complex geometries that would be difficult or impossible to produce using traditional manufacturing methods. Apart from weight reduction, they are also used to improve the strength, energy absorption, heat transfer, reduce warping and printing time etc. Research on employing lattice structure for aerospace, automotive, medical devices has been extensively carried out currently due the benefits that it offers. Among the various additive manufacturing techniques, Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) 3D printing is one of the most applied techniques to polymers and composites in the literature. The development of fibre-reinforced composites using FFF has enhanced the mechanical properties of 3D printed polymeric parts. In this investigation, lattice structure of PLA with addition of wood particles and two printing orientation of 0° degree and 90° degree were printed. In this study, tensile and flexural properties and vibration tests were carried out according to the standard. For vibration test, cantilever mode is studied for finding the natural frequency and damping factor of the printed part. A wearable continuum robot to supplement human capability is proposed. For this purpose, a light, flexible, and wearable robotic manipulator is designed and a 255-mm-long prototype, with a maximum diameter of 26mm and weight of 58g is fabricated. The prototype consists of two units: a continuum unit, which comprises several rigid links connected via a bar spring and three wires, a drive unit, which is used to tension wires to bend and control the continuum unit, including a control-and- power module. The drive unit contains three small motors and is equipped with pulleys to pull the wires. A model to simulate the behavior of the continuum unit is developed based on the capstan equation. The proposed model is used to estimate the posture of the continuum unit from the tension of wires. Furthermore, the validity of the proposed model is demonstrated experimentally. The results indicate a linear relationship between the bending angle and external force. The results suggest that the proposed model can be used to estimate external forces from the posture of the continuum unit. Object holding functions of the prototype worn on the wrist is demonstrated as an example of enhancement of human arm capabilities by wearable continuum manipulator.

Starting compressor is the main equipment in the Gas Engine Power Plant (GEPP) that works to produce compressed air needed to start the gas engine. The starting compressor used is a reciprocating type that consists of two levels of compression: the low-pressure (LP) side and the high-pressure (HP) side. In the starting compressor at Arun GEPP, there is a frequent problem regarding the excessive deposit growth rate that clogs tubing in the HP air cooler and compressed air delivery line, thus decreasing equipment reliability. This excessive deposit growth rate is derived from burned lubricants in the HP side compression chamber, which is necessary to increase the cooling capacity of the LP air cooler. Increasing the cooling air velocity is one way to solve the problem. A numerical study is used to determine the effect of variations in cooling air velocity on compressed air temperature in the LP air cooler. Then, it is used to calculate the working pressure limit on the starting compressor to avoid an excessive growth rate of deposit. The results of this study indicate that increasing in cooling air velocity up to 218% was able to reduce the compressed air temperature by 3.57 ℃ and increase the delivery pressure limit of the reciprocating compressor by 1.82 bar. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The matrix sensitive weaknesses of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) laminates are usually magnified by mainstream additive manufacturing (AM) methods due to the AM-process-induced voids and defects. In this paper, a novel Magnetic Compaction Force Assisted-Additive Manufacturing (MCFA-AM) method is used to print Carbon Nanofibers (CNF) Z-threaded CFRP (i.e., ZT-CFRP) composite laminates. The MCFA-AM method utilizes a magnetic force to simultaneously support, deposit, and compact Continuous Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (C-CFRP) composites in free space and quickly solidifies the CFRP part without any mold;it effectively reduces the voids. Past research proved that the zig-zag threading pattern of the CNF z-threads reinforces the interlaminar and intralaminar regions in the ZT-CFRP laminates manufactured by the traditional Out of Autoclave-Vacuum Bag Only (OOA-VBO) method, and enhances the matrix sensitive mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. In this study, the longitudinal compressive test (ASTM D695, i.e., SACMA SRM 1R-94) was performed on the MCFA-AM printed ZT-CFRP laminate. The results were compared with unaligned CNF-modified CFRP (UA-CFRP), control CFRP, and no-pressure CFRP samples' data to investigate the impact of the CNF z-threads and MCFA-AM process on the CFRP's performance. The 0.5-bar MCFA-AM printed ZT-CFRP showed comparable longitudinal compressive strength with the 1-bar OOA-VBO cured CFRP. Copyright © 2023. Used by CAMX - The Composites and Advanced Materials Expo. Model-based control is a crucial component of robotic navigation. However, it often struggles with entrapment in local minima due to its inherent nature as a finite, myopic optimization procedure. Previous studies have addressed this issue but sacrificed either solution quality due to their reactive nature or computational efficiency in generating explicit paths for proactive guidance. To this end, we propose a motion planning method that proactively avoids local minima without any guidance from global paths. The key idea is repulsive potential augmentation, integrating high-level directional information into the Model Predictive Path Integral control as a single repulsive term through an artificial potential field. We evaluate our method through theoretical analysis and simulations in environments with obstacles that induce local minima. Results show that our method guarantees the avoidance of local minima and outperforms existing methods in terms of global optimality without decreasing computational efficiency.

The growing energy demand and ruler electrification accelerates the integration of synchronously and asynchronously operating grids. Generation based on hydro, wind or solar may operate at a frequency slightly different than the national grid due to its intermittent nature and operational constraints. It is important to integrate the generation of various sources to improve grid reliability. Wind energy farms are usually integrated into the grid using VSC (voltage source converters)-HVDC systems. Faults on either side of the HVDC link may create operational and stability issues for interconnecting the HVDC link. The fault ride-through is the ability of the VSC-HVDC system to remain connected with the grid during faults. This paper explores and analyzes the fault ride-through ability of $\mathbf{a}\pm \mathbf{100}\ \mathbf{kV}$ , 200 MW two-level VSC-HVDC to maintain interconnections between grids, especially during the presence of intermittent sources like wind farms at one end of the VSC-HVDC system.

Currently, the process of monitoring children’s growth in Indonesia relies on manual methods for collecting anthropometric data. These methods pose a risk of data recording errors. Additionally, the ratio of healthcare workers to children in Indonesia is 1:90, a significant disparity that hinders efforts to reduce the prevalence of stunting in the country. To support the third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which emphasizes “Good Health and Well-being,” it is crucial to address issues in the stunting management process, from data collection to monitoring. The design and development of this iOS-based mobile application aim to assist in monitoring child growth and provide guidance and steps for prevention and treatment. Besides application development, it also involves the design and development of an Internet of Things (IoT) system to aid in the collection of children’s anthropometric data. The research methodology includes studying stunting cases in Indonesia, anthropometric data calculation methods, stunting prevention and management steps, application design and development, automatic anthropometric data collection, and online data storage and transmission using IoT technology. The developed application and system have been tested and successfully integrated. The IoT device has an accuracy rate of 99.83% for weight measurement calibration and 98.68% for height or length measurement calibration. From the testing results of the child condition calculation method in the application, an accuracy rate of 100% was achieved.

The generation of motion paths of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) is a critical aspect of logistics and unmanned factory production systems. Currently, researchers mainly enhance path smoothness in AGV local path planning by employing optimization techniques such as Bezier curves and B-spline curves. However, these methods often require high-standard site conditions or involve complex computations. This paper establishes a mathematical model for AGV curved path segments and its envelope lines of motion using polynomial curves with better comprehensive properties. The study combines theoretical analysis with experimental validation, demonstrating advantages such as smoother path generation, smaller turning radii, and simpler computational methods. In addition, parameters with better properties are selected to verify the correctness and feasibility of polynomial curves as motion control curves for AGV turning, providing a theoretical basis for active obstacle avoidance in AGV operations. © 2024 IEEE.

Daily pressure activity especially in work place or any society condition may causing stress or pressure for the people deal with that condition. This stress may causing of decreasing of work performance and achievement in the daily activity. Furthermore in worse condition, people may went to psychiatrist consulting regarding the condition in order to heal the stress or pressure feeling. In this work, food recommendation healing in order to improve the mood based on mood recognition using heartbeat rate detection system is developed. Mood detection results will be used to recommend foods that can improve the mood. the mood detection system work based on automatic intelligent heartbeat rate identification. This system installed on an Android cellphone, so its make the system more flexible and portable. the system has also connected to the web, in order used by doctors to monitor the patient's condition if the patient is being monitoring due to health mental diseases treatment. This system has worked properly with mood detection based on heartbeat rate with 96% and 97%, training and testing accuracy, respectively. Furthermore, this system is connected to the website for monitoring purposes for the psychiatrist to monitor their patient intern of mood changing fluctuation © 2022 IEEE.

Hydroxyapatite (HA) is one of the potential biomaterials used for treating dental defects. It can be incorporated with fluoride to enhance its anti-caries properties, though other properties could be dependent on processing technique. Hence, this study aims to characterize the influence of sintering on the properties of fluoride-added HA derived from eggshells. FTIR and XRD techniques are used to characterize the chemical and crystal structures of the samples, whilst dissolution test is carried out to characterize material degradation in the acidic environment. The results show that sintering increased the crystallinity in both HA and fluoride-add HA (F-HA) samples, which corresponds with the enhanced stability during the dissolution test. Moreover, it is also found that the addition of fluoride could further stabilize the material structure, though the impurities found in all the samples still need to be minimized. These findings suggest that sintering and fluoride addition could potentially enhance anti-caries properties of eggshell-derived HA, which could be beneficial for dental application in future subject to further process optimization and analysis. © 2023 IEEE.
