Car transportation tools are widely used in Indonesia. The car is experiencing rapid technological development, including a family car made by Daihatsu astra with 1500 Cc. Kenaf fibre is one of the strongest natural fibres in the world today. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to create a new composite of Kenaf fibres combined with marble waste powder. The incorporation of marble powders and Kenaf fibres using a matrix of a polyester resin type has never been done. Thus, this study aims to create and test various composite material composites (mixture of matrix, marble powder and Kenaf fibre) which will produce different mechanical properties and obtain good tensile strength in test specimens with several composition variations. Preparation of test specimens was carried out with 4 (four) compositions of matrix mix and marble powder; 50:50, 60:40, 70:30 and 80:20 with the weight of Kenaf fibre is fixed 2 gram. The largest tensile test value is 63,407 MPa, obtained from 80:20 composition with the largest E value 3,03GPa. The largest compression test value is 33.49, obtained from the composition of 60:40 with the largest E value of 2,35GPa. The largest bending test value is 19.80 MPa, obtained from the composition of 80:20 with the largest E value of 36,55GPa. From the research results of tensile test, compression test, and bending test which possess good value is between 60:40 and 70:30 of composition ratio.

The nanomultiferroic material which is synthesized in this research used sol-gel method. The research used weight ratio of BaTiO3: BiFeO3 of 2: 1. Gel formed after heating at 80-90°C was calcined at 350°C for 4 hours and then sintered at 700,750 and 800°C for 2, 4 and 6 hours respectively. Powder produced after sintering was characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) test using XRD Phillips PW 1835 type, 20°-100° diffraction angle and CuKα, electric polarization properties test and particle size measurement using Particle Size Analyzer of Beckman Coulter DelsaTM Nano instrument. From the characterization results, it is obtained that the dominant phase is Barium Bismuth Iron (III) Oxide (BaBiFe2O5). Electrical polarization properties such as remanent, coersivity and saturation reach maximum value at sinter temperature of 750° C and sinter time of 6 hours. This result is supported by the smallest particle size of powder (54-57 nm) and also supported by the largest number of dominant phase (98.79%) at same condition. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2018.

Pyrolysis study of coconut leaf's biomass using thermogravimetric analysis

Coconut leaf is one of the most potential biomass to be converted into bio-oil through pyrolysis process and the availability in Indonesia is abundance. The mechanism of decomposition of coconut leaf into bio-oil productions requires further research because of the complexity of pyrolysis and differences in biomass composition. Therefore, the design, optimization and modeling of pyrolysis processes is strongly influenced by biomass characteristics. The purpose of this study was to find the characteristic differences in pyrolysis behavior of the three main parts of coconut leaf based on its constituent parts; leaflets, midrib and whole leaf. Moisture is removed by drying the sample in an electric oven at 110°C for 24 hours. Characteristics were tested using Cellulose Analysis, Ultimate Analysis, and Heat Value, whereas pyrolysis behavior used Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA). The results show that leaflets, midrib and whole leaf exhibit different pyrolysis behavior. In terms of considering flow process of separation, the whole leaf becomes an option as a fuel for further pyrolysis processes. The maximum temperature that as a reference in the pyrolysis process of coconut leaves is 500°C with temperature rate of 20°C/min and the process lasts as long for 130 minutes.

Hardness improvement of aluminum alloy 2024 t3 after artificial aging treatment

The needs of having strong and light material for many construction is increasing. Aluminum is one of materials that fulfill this requirement with other advantages such as corrosion resistant and easily formed. Generally, hardness of aluminum and its alloys is lower than ferrous metal such as iron and steel. Aluminum hardness improvement can be conducted by heat treatment namely artificial aging. Artificial aging in aluminum alloy type 2024 T3 in this study was conducted in 2 phases that is solution treatment in 500 °C for 1 hour and continued with artificial aging process in 180 °C by holding time 2, 4 and 6 hours. From the conducted research, it was found that there was hardness improvement on aluminum type 2024 T3 in line with the increasing of aging time. The gained microstructure was getting smooth which means the precipitation hardening process was getting perfect.

Significant population and economic growth, caused increasing of energy demand. Depletion of fossil fuel moreover coupled by climate change issue that caused by increasing carbon emission, become necessity to continuously encourage achieving renewable energy mix in energy primer. Large potentials of hydro renewable energy source and small utilization of it, micro-hydro and pico-hydro power plant are suitable to develop especially in country side. The research gap in the current turbine application chart is a challenge for Gravitational Water Vortex Power Plant (GWVPP) strong existence in pico-hydro power, besides conventional turbine design has been developed into it. However, development in vortex flow and basin geometry design has a robust design for the past 10 years of research. Researches have been conducted in few countries that proofed GWVPP has less capital investment and low operational and maintenance cost, however the parameter of the GWVPP still need further development since the power output efficiency still low. Since basin opening and outlet diameter are the main parameters to define basin geometry, inlet channel need to do further research. The research will improve the recent gaps; therefore, vortex turbine could be developed accordingly that would result immediate improvements for renewable energy growth in Indonesia through GWVPP.

This paper presents computer modeling, analysis and research of the hyper-chaotic Lorenz system based on programming interface that has been developed in LabView software environment. This study allows for generating and research of the main information properties of hyper-chaotic Lorenz system, focusing on time distribution of the four chaotic coordinates, phase portraits and Lyapunov exponents. The programming interface demonstrates the algorithm of masking and decrypt of the information carrier.

The Effect of Air Pressure in the Electric Train's (KRL) Braking System on Wheel Damage

A flat wheel is a kind of wheel damage occurring when the train wheels are dragged along the rail as the axle wheel's rotation stops. The wheels will skid when the brake block force is greater than the train force. The equation for the wheel skid is (Fbrake > Ftrain), this applies when the wheels stop rotating, but the train still moves so that a flat spotmay appear. This study finds that the electric trains from the JR 205 seriesthat has many flat spots on its wheels are the M trains (70%). It also reveals that the percentage of the brake block pressure in the unloaded KRL is 130.4%. Provided that ɳ>ɳmax (100%), this condition does not meet the standard of the International Union of Railway or Union Internationale des Chemis de Fer (UIC). If the percentage of the brake block pressure (ɳ) exceeds 100%, the braking force will be greater than that of the axle load and this causes the skid. To overcome this condition, rechecking the braking force and providing additional equipment are needed to assure that the air pressure is controlled.

This study aims to design the control system of an electronic device using voice identification-based smartphones generating electronic device control system. It optimizes the smartphone functions as a mobile phone than as a means of communication. The method used using the technique of direct observation by observing the success of the software AMR voice in identifying sound. In this design process smartphone as a sound receiver module, arduino as a controller, Bluetooth module as the sender and recipient of the data, and the relay as a contact breaker and connecting the electric current, as the output of LCD used to display information on whether the results of voice identification is correct or incorrect. Research tools electronic control device can control electronic devices such as fans, lamps and others depending on what is to be controlled. From the test results it can be concluded that the system control electronic devices by using voice identification-based smartphone that has been designed is divided into several parts, namely the Bluetooth module HC-05, arduino uno, relays and software AMR voice as a controller that has been tested to work and function properly.

Maintenance Management Of Welding engineering Workshops In Vocational High Schools Inspecial Region Of Yogyakarta

This study aimed at investigating the maintenance management of welding engineering workshops and factors affecting the damage of welding equipment in vocational high schools located in Special Region of Yogyakarta. The study employed quantitative descriptivedesign. It was conducted at vocational high schools SMKN 1 Sedayu, SMKN 2 Pengasih, SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Wates, and SMKN 1 Pundong. The respondents were heads of workshops, teachers of welding engineering subject, workshop technicians, and students. The data were collected through survey, observation, and interview. The quantitative descriptive technique was employed to analyze the collected data. The results of the study show that the maintenance management of welding engineering workshops in some VHS in Yogyakarta is Very Gooddespitesome problemsin the maintenance procedure. The factors causing the equipment damage are the unscheduled maintenance procedure, absence of inventory lists, lack of technicians, improper use of workshop equipment, and the limited amount of maintenance budget.
