This study aimed at investigating the maintenance management of welding engineering workshops and factors affecting the damage of welding equipment in vocational high schools located in Special Region of Yogyakarta. The study employed quantitative descriptivedesign. It was conducted at vocational high schools SMKN 1 Sedayu, SMKN 2 Pengasih, SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Wates, and SMKN 1 Pundong. The respondents were heads of workshops, teachers of welding engineering subject, workshop technicians, and students. The data were collected through survey, observation, and interview. The quantitative descriptive technique was employed to analyze the collected data. The results of the study show that the maintenance management of welding engineering workshops in some VHS in Yogyakarta is Very Gooddespitesome problemsin the maintenance procedure. The factors causing the equipment damage are the unscheduled maintenance procedure, absence of inventory lists, lack of technicians, improper use of workshop equipment, and the limited amount of maintenance budget.

Developing a Manual Arc Welding Job Sheet for the Basic Welding Technique Subject

The study aims to describe (1) the development stages of the manual arc welding job sheet and (2) its validity. It is a Research and Development (R & D) of which the data were collected by means of non-test instruments, namely the closed-ended questionnaires with the 5-scale responses. The data were collected from the three research participants acting as the material and media experts,namely two lecturers in the mechanical engineering Education study program, Faculty of engineering (FE), Yogyakarta State University (YSU), and a teacher of the Basic Welding Technique subject. The job sheet development stages were adapted from Thiagarajan’s model, namely the Four-D model covering the definition, design, development, and dissemination. Data were analyzed quantitatively by means of the descriptive statistics. The results of the material evaluation by the material expert I prove that the job sheet is categorized as Appropriate (with the total score of 145 or 82.9%) and Very Appropriate based on the material expert II with the total score of 153 (87.4%). Besides, in terms of the media, the job sheet is Appropriate based on the media expert I (with the total score of 207 or 82.8%) and Very Appropriate based on the media expert II (with the total score of 215 or 84.4%).

Investigation the effect of powder type on the capillary pumping performance and wettability

This study examined the effects of powder types on capillary pumping performance and wettability of wick samples. The raw material used are molecular sieve and copper powder with grain size of 80-100 microns and 177-200 microns respectively. Wick samples were produced by sintering with two shapes of powder grain comprised spherical and irregular shapes. Tests were carried out to determine the microstructure of the sample, capillary pumping amount and wettability. The test results showed that the grain type and grain size of powder could affect the roughness of the samples, of which, consequently, could also influence their wettability and capillary pumping amount. Proposed grain size and shape of the molecular sieve and copper powder are potential to be considered as wick alternatives for heat pipe application.

Project-based learning model with real object in vocational school learning

Learning in vocational schools is not enough just teacher-centered because the material presented does not only cover cognitive aspects, but also the affective and psychomotor aspects. In fact, there are still many teachers who use conventional modes, including learning technical drawings, so that student learning outcomes are low. The purpose of this research was to determine the learning outcomes of the PjBL model using real object media better than conventional methods in technical drawing subjects. A quasi-experiment was used in research with a nonequivalent control group design. The study population was 42 students of class X TP. The sampling technique uses cluster sampling. Class X TP1 as a control class with 23 students and Class X TP2 as an experimental class with 19 students. Data collection techniques using test techniques. The research instrument was a test sheet. The data analysis used t-test analysis with prerequisite tests, namely the normality test and homogeneity test. Based on testing the hypothesis test, it was concluded that the PjBL model with real objects gives better learning outcomes compared to conventional methods of learning outcomes of technical drawings.

Maintenance is an activity to maintain facilities or equipment of the factory and make repairs or adjustments to the necessary replacement to satisfactory condition of production operations in accordance with what is planned. Companies often experience damage to the Blowing machine so that interconnected machines cannot be operated. The purpose of this study was to improve the performance of Blowing line 4 engines with the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) method at PT. Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia Medan Unit, also to determine the level of Blowing machine performance based on the analysis of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) at PT. Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia Medan Unit. The method used in this study is the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) method to measure Ishikawa's treatments and diagrams to compare and propose low engine performance. The results of data processing shows machine maintenance has not comply the OEE standards in July 81.48%, August 81.48%, September 78.07%, October 81.22%, November 78.08%, and those that fill the standards in June amount to 86.48%, with losses that most affect the effectiveness of equipment in line 4 blowroom machine is Equipment Failure Losses of 11.42% based on the results of the study, the proposed improvement in engine performance is to provide training to employees, and increase operator awareness. against engine damage, thus the production process will run smoothly. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Prospective area of Solok geothermal lies in step over transtensional between two segments, Suliti and Siulak, Sumatra faults. Geological structure in this prospect area shows structural pattern controlled by 'oblique divergent strike-slip fault system' (releasing bend) as a proceed of embraced movement from Sumatra fault and establishes 'dilation zone' between those two segments, forming negative flower structure in direction of NW-SE and N-S. The pattern of geological structure is predicted to control the availability of solok geothermal system which in this case related to presence of surface manifestation. Surface manifestation indicates good permeability zone that can be used as flow path of geothermal fluid from reservoir.

This article aims to analyze the use of smartphone technology in education field, with a focus on exploring the effects of smartphone and its software application use in learning activities. This study was conducted using the method of systematic literature review through 3 stages, namely: searching related journals through an online database of several publishers, analyzing the search results journals and dividing them into 3 groups according to the research objectives, and describing the results of the analysis in the form of scientific and logical arguments. From the results of the study it can be concluded that smartphone is significantly useful in student-centered learning, can be used in various disciplines, and at all levels of education, and there are various smartphone applications that can be used for learning needs.

Point defect qubits in semiconductors have demonstrated their outstanding high spatial resolution sensing capabilities of broad multidisciplinary interest. Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors hosting such sensors have recently opened up new horizons for sensing in the subnanometer scales in 2D heterostructures. However, controlled creation of quantum sensor in a single layer 2D materials with high sensitivity has been elusive so far. Here, we report on a novel 2D quantum sensor, the VB2 centre in hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), with superior sensing capabilities. The centres inherently low symmetry configuration gives rise to unique electronic and spin properties that implement a qubit in a 2D material with unprecedented sensitivity. The qubit is decoupled from its dense spin environment at low magnetic fields that gives rise to the reduction of the spin resonance linewidth and elongation of the coherence time. The VB2 centre is also equipped with a classical memory that can be utilized in storing population information. Using scanning transmission electron microscopy imaging, we confirm the presence of the point defect structure in free standing monolayer hBN created by electron beam irradiation. Our results provide a new material solution towards atomic-scale sensing in low dimensions. © 2021, CC BY.

The management of megaproject is an emerging-topics to be studied by researchers. As an established management theory, quality management has a potential role to support studies and implementation of megaprojects. This study aims to explore the potential of Seven Management and Planning Tools (SMPT) in supporting megaproject management. A literature review method was utilized to analyse pertinent literatures that used the SMPT in megaproject studies. Based on 28 published articles, it is concluded that SMPT have been widely applied by scholars to analyse megaproject's study in various aspects. In addition, based on the project guideline PMBOK and the international standard project management ISO 21500:2012, the SMPT have opportunity to support the megaproject practice in each stage. This preliminary study gives the potential chance for further studies related to the use of SMPT in megaproject's real case as well as the opportunity to develop megaproject management tools specifically. These issues become a research opportunity in the field of quality management and megaproject management in the future.

The effect of groove welding on mechanical properties and microstructure of wear resistance steel plate by Submerged Arc Welding

Aim of this research is to analyze the mechanical properties and microstructure of wear resistance steel plates joined by Submerged Arc Welding at different grooves welding. The welding current of 300 Ampere, voltage of 28 Volt and travel speed of 38 cm/min was applied. The microscopical examination methods were used for weld zones. Impact toughness and rockwell hardness test were obtained from the weld metal, heat affected zone and the base metal samples. The fracture surfaces were examined by using optical microscope. As results, there was no difference of hardness and microstructure among three grooves welding. The significant differences were detected at the weld zones. Base metal had the highest hardness value. Ferrite and pearlite phases were obtained at three weld zones, but the heat affected zone had coarser grain structure than the base metal. Weld metal volume and electrode length significantly affected the impact toughness of joint, where the larger of the weld metal volume and length of electrode fill in the groove welding, the higher of impact toughness. The lowest impact energy and toughness value were attained at V groove and the highest was at I groove. The fracture surfaces at all groove welds showed ductile fracture dominantly.
