Cooling effectiveness using a cooling fan on an electronic device becomes a benchmark. Speaker- based synthetic jets that are becoming innovations today work on the principle of zero input mass, producing air in the cavity with an oscillating membrane which results in the suction phase occurring in the orifice hole. The generated air then flows through the orifice to pound the heat source as a forced convection cooler. Speakers used as oscillating actuators resemble waveforms using sine, square, and triangular wave functions with frequencies of 80, 100, and 120 Hz. Air flow simulation created using Fluent CFD. The use of wave variations has different characteristics. Triangular waves indicate the final test temperature reaches 27oC, with an optimum frequency of 80 Hz. Air flow created in the form of vortex flow with a type of turbulent flow. The electric power consumption of cooling fans reaches ten times the consumption of synthetic jet power. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

Indonesia has the world's largest Muslim population, so the potential for Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) funding is enormous. The existence of ZIS in the current Covid-19 pandemic is of extreme importance, as issues such as economic crisis, social inequality, and the rise of dhuafa (poor) are becoming more and more visible. However, in the presence of coronavirus, ZIS has become more challenging to manage and distribute. Bans on gatherings, distancing rules, and other restrictions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus make ZIS more challenging to manage. Therefore, we need innovations to build bridges between people in need and supporters. The Internet of Things (IoT) is one system that can bridge this. In this system, IoT enables machine-to-machine communication and reduces human interaction. This research uses IoT to support Rice Vending Machine with high accuracy. The accuracy is achieved using five load cells and a good rice way-out valve mechanism. In previous machines using a single load cell or open the valve according to a certain time. Based on its test results analysis and MAPE values, we found the machine's accuracy facing obtained very well, and the website monitoring was also very effective. This research provides innovation in ZIS management and dramatically benefits society. © 2023 IEEE.

Fertilizer is one factor that is very influential in the success of agriculture. There are two types of fertilizer circulating in Indonesia today that is organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer (chemical). The used of chemical fertilizers allows the distribution of natural radionuclides into the environment. This study was conducted to determine the risk of the radioactive index of chemical fertilizer in Indonesia using gamma-ray spectrometry. There are 6 types of samples of fertilizers ie urea, ZA, KCL, NPK, TSP, and Phosphate. Radioactive risk index value that is found in the overall sample of fertilizer is below the limit recommended by the ICRP. © 2019 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Biomass is a very important energy source in the sugar mill industry as the main fuel in the power plant boilers. The efficiency of boilers for most sugar mills in Indonesia is quite low and the availability of bagasse is lacking so that in its operations, co-firing has to be applied with an alternative biomass fuels such as rice husk, cane trash, wood and saw dust. Based on the analysis, rice husk has a lower calorific (3248 cal/gr) value than that of bagasse (4076 cal/gr), but it has a higher ash content (20.67%) than that of bagasse (3.66%), so adjustments in boiler operation is required when using rice husk as co-firing. The higher ash content in biomass can affect the performance of the furnace and superheater in the boiler and increase the potential for deposit formation. The composition of rice husk ash was dominated by silica (SiO2) which reached 95.52%. It is higher than the silica content of bagasse which reached 74.99%. The high silica content in rice husks has the potential to conduce melting ash in boiler grate. The alkali content of rice husk which was around 3.64% is less than that found in bagasse which reached 17.33%. Even though, the ash composition analysis shows quite small potential for slagging, fouling, melting, sintering, and agglomeration, but the large amount of ash content in rice husks can increase the potential for the occurrence of the risks. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The issue of power quality is one of the prominent factors in determining the reliability of power systems. It is inevitable to consider power quality issues and include appropriate mitigation techniques in the design of any future power system project construction. Voltage sag and flicker are the two most common short disturbance types of power quality issues that frequently occur in power systems. A widely accepted mitigation strategy to enhance the power quality of disturbed networks is by connecting a flexible ac transmission system. In this paper, a superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) unit along with hysteresis-fuzzy controller to suppress the severe impacts of voltage sag and flicker events on the power quality of a power system is proposed, implemented, and tested. The proposed SMES configuration with hysteresis current control and fuzzy logic controller is effective, simple, and easy to implement. Simulation results show the ability of the proposed SMES controller in compensating sag and/or flicker distortions. © 2003-2010 IEEE Canada.

A total of 37.5 million tons of palm empty fruit bunches(EFBs)produced in Indonesia in 2018 have the potential to be used as an alternative eco-friendly solid ***,a pretreatment process is necessary to increase the heating value and reduce the po-tassium content of *** methods can be employed to improve the characteristics of EFBs as a solid fuel,such as drying and torrefaction to increase the heating value and the leaching process for reducing the potassium content of *** main concept of increasing the heating value is to increase the fuel content,which is *** drying,the carbon ratio can be increased by reducing the moisture content and,through torrefaction,the carbon ratio could be increased due to the decomposition of ligno-cellulose.A simple way to reduce the potassium content of EFBs is the leaching *** types of leaching treatment have been studied before:soaking and stirring *** study reviews those methods to make EFBs more suitable as a solid fuel with a high heating value and less potassium *** the carbon content in EFBs is crucial for enhancing their heating value as a *** and torrefaction decrease the moisture content and modify the chemical structure,resulting in higher carbon *** leaching process effectively reduces the potassium content of EFBs and stirring treatment is more effective than immersion *** positively affects leaching by decreasing the potassium content,while hydrophobicity may hinder leaching by re-pelling *** high moisture content of leached EFBs requires additional energy for evaporation during torrefaction,resulting in a lower energy density yield compared with raw *** may also be required to account for the decreased mineral content,which functions as a torrefaction catalyst in EFBs that have not been leached.

FreeDyn (***) is a free multibody simulation (MBS) package consisting of a graphical user interface (GUI) and a C++ solver in which a modified version of the HHT time integration method is implemented. In order to underline the solvers efficiency with respect to CPU time, comparative simulations of FreeDyn and a commercial software product are presented in this paper. The main modelling elements of FreeDyn are rigid and flexible bodies, constraints, forces and measures (angle, position, velocity …). The FreeDyn standard force elements can be specified by user defined expressions. However, if a more advanced force is required, the user can link a user written subroutine (DLL) to FreeDyn. FreeDyn can be used as standalone software, which is controlled via the mentioned GUI. Alternatively, FreeDyn can be linked via a C-Interface as a dynamic link library (DLL) to other software like MATLAB, Scilab or self-written codes. The C-interface provides control functions for time integration and access to model data, which are normally hidden (e.g. mass matrix, constraint forces, Jacobi matrices etc.). Beside industrial applications, FreeDyn can be used in education and research. In Education: Beside the classical teaching elements like the creation and simulation of MBS models, it is furthermore possible, to look deeper inside the structure of the equations. This can be easily done by the use of the access routines of the C-Interface. In Research: FreeDyn enables quick implementations of particular research ideas in the context of MBS. The integration of those ideas can be realized with a user written subroutine and/or alternatively, by the use of the C-Interface. A researcher can focus on the research topic, while FreeDyn handles the MBS model. Moreover, due to the availability of very specific information, the C-Interface of FreeDyn is suitable for extraordinary optimization problems, which is underlined by an example and several literature citations. mechanical dryer usually using heat from combustion and air is blown through heater to the product dried. This study was conducted used a vertical dryer. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of air temperature to drying rate and drying efficiency. The variation of the temperature used were 50°C, 55°C, and 60°C with a tolerance of ± 1 °C with a constant mass of 20kg. The result of this study showed that the higher the dryer air temperature used, the faster the drying rate and drying time. It was found that the fastest drying rate for 60°C was 0.00033804 kg/s with drying time 70 minutes. While for temperature of 50°C found the longest drying rate of to reach a moisture content of 13.8% of 0.00022571 kg/s with constant air velocity of 5 m/s. Scientists often face the task to carry out a "proof of concept" of a research idea. If this is related to multibody simulation of flexible bodies, it is sometimes necessary to implement a simple and problem-oriented multibody simulation code in programs like Matlab or Scilab. The question then arises, which terms of the equation of motion have to be considered when the flexible body is modelled along the Floating Frame of Reference Formulation. The consideration of all effects leads to very complex expressions and also require costly FE preprocessing. A remarkably simplified version can be obtained, by a strict application of the small deformation assumption to the level of the kinetic energy. But what is the truth in the context of a certain problem? Clear rules are provided, so that a researcher can decide for a particular mechanical system, which terms are required and which ones can be neglected. This work reviews a paper that has been recently published by the authors with respect to this question. © The Society for Experimental Mechanics, Inc 2021.

The cofiring of biomass and coal may be one of the most effective methods to improve energy utilization efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas *** study aims to investigate combustion performance,interaction and synergistic effects in the cofiring of coal and three types of *** fuel consisting of coal and three types of biomass such as sawdust,rice husk and solid recovery fuel was selected as the research *** and proximate analysis and differential thermogravimetric analysis with heating rates of between 10°C and 40°C/minute are used to analyse combustion *** of combustion in a 600-MWe steam power plant with a Carolina-type boiler is also carried out with the help of computational fluid dynamic(CFD)analysis to see the effect of the interaction and synergy of the mixed fuel on the performance of the steam *** effect on the com-bustion process in the combustion chamber of a steam power plant is also *** on the analysis of several test results of parameters such as ignition temperature,burnout temperature,calorific value of the fuel mixtures as well as CFD simulation,the results of the study show a strong indication of a positive synergy in mixing some of these biomasses as compared with a fuel mix-ture consisting only of coal and one type of *** no power derating of the boiler occurs until the biomass content in the fuel mixture is~30%on a mass *** reduction in greenhouse gas emissions also appears significant from the results of the CFD simulation of this study,which is characterized by a decrease in the fraction of CO_(2) in flue gas from 21.5%for coal alone as fuel to 15.9%in the case of cofiring excluding the CO_(2) attributed to the biomass.
