This paper proposes a robust multiplexed model predictive control (MMPC) for a bake plate control system. The bake plate is a multi-inputs multi-outputs (MIMO) system which is required to have uniform temperature. In bake plate sytem, the controller must be able to reduce the disturbances caused when placing a cold wafer inside. Results show that the proposed robust MMPC can outperform in attenuating disturbance compare with the MMPC and the standard MPC.

Authors have been studying the absorption of CO2 in the steelmaking slag. In this study, an application of the electric arc furnace slag after the carbonation to admixture of mortar was investigated with the JIS (A6206-1997) method for ground granulated blast-furnace slag for concrete. The percent flows for the test mortar were smaller than that for the standard mortar. The percent flow of the carbonated slag whose average particle size of more than approximately 4 μm increased with an increase in the average size of the particles. Because the compressive strengths of the test mortar cured for 91 days were almost the same as those cured 28 days, the slag after the carbonation was thought not to have self-hardening property for a medium and long term. The compressive strength for the test mortar was almost unchanged within a range of approximately 2 to 7 μm of the average particle size, and it in this range was highest. The activity indexes for the test mortar prepared with the slag after the carbonation ranged from approximately 40 to 60 %.

Fundamental study was carried out for provision for acidification of soil due to acid rain. The influence of weight of the additive slag on elution behavior of the slag into water was studied in this study. Elution experiment was carried out on a basis of JIS K 0058-1. Generally, the pH in the aqueous solution increased with an increase in weight of the additive slag. The pH converged to approximately eight. Calcium, magnesium and manganese, which were essential elements for plants, were eluted from the slag irrespective to elution condition. The eluted concentrations of Ca and Mg increased with an increase in weight of the additive slag. Silicon and zinc were also eluted depending on the conditions. Aluminum that was harmful for plants was not eluted from the used slag.

The tsunami evacuation simulation which combines tsunami inundation simulation and people evacuation simulation was confirmed to be one of the effective disaster education tools from the experiences in Japan. This simulation technology has been advanced and applied to the west half of the tsunami risk area of Banda Aceh. And, its utilization methodology for tsunami disaster education and for city planning has been studied under the cooperation with the school teachers and the city office staffs. Linking these two simulations onto a common time-domain, the animation is compiled and the number of casualties is counted from the location of evacuee and the spot depth of tsunami. The study originated the road network data and population data of Banda Aceh using a high resolution satellite image and door-to-door visits. Several simulations were developed under different scenario parameters such as the timing of the start of evacuation, the method of moving (car is available or not), and the destination of the evacuees. The simulation handles more than 10 thousand agent models.

The Algebraic Reconstruction Technique (ART) of Lambert-Beer's attenuation approximation for parallel rays transmission projection is a variant of the ART model that aims to solve image reconstruction problems in nuclear based computed tomography for non-destructive testing where γ or κ radiation is used as a ray source. In this model, the path length of the ray that hits a pixel at any projection view and the size of detector grid are explicitly included in computation. Then, the model is used to investigate the influence of the ray path length and the width of detector grid in producing image quality. The image quality is represented as space and pixel resolution, respectively. In this paper, we demonstrate that the model is able to show the contribution of the ray path length and detector grid in producing image quality. By considering ray path length and detector grid, the model produces smaller Root Mean Square error compared to conventional ART.

Variable speed wind turbine with full scale converter or so-called Type-D wind turbine generator worldwide installation has been significantly increased in the last few years. Voltage sag in the grid side may cause the wind turbine to be disconnected from the grid. In this paper, effect of STATCOM on the low voltage ride through capability of Type-D wind turbine during voltage sag in the grid side is studied. Simulation is carried out using MATLAB/Simulink software. Results show that STATCOM can significantly improve the voltage profile at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) and improve the capability of Type-D wind turbine and prevents it from being disconnected from the grid during certain level of voltage sag in the grid side.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of scan times on surface roughness and engraving depth an experimental design was implemented to AISI H13 tool steed workpiece using fiber laser. For this purpose, an experimental design plan was constituted using full factorial design and results were evaluated for surface roughness and engraving depth. The results showed that the scan times and the scan speed significantly affect both surface roughness and engraving depth. In order to characterize the surface roughness and engraving depth, two linear regression models were constituted.

Laser assisted machining methods are most powerful technique in the precise material processing compared with the conventional methods. The aim of this study is to investigate of machinability of tungsten carbide using laser deep engraving technique and to constitute a mathematical model for surface roughness and engraving depth. Confirmation experiments were performed using mathematical models. The experimental results show that the Tungsten Carbide can be machined by a fiber laser marking machine. The results of confirmation experiments show that the calculated values from the model and measured values from the experiments at the same conditions for both surface roughness and engraving depth are very close.
