Edible coating from VCO, iota-carrageenan and alginate blends for pindang fish preservation

This study aims to develop an edible coating based on virgin coconut oil (VCO) nanoemulsion, iota-carrageenan and alginate to prolong the shelf life of pindang (mildly salted cooked) fish products. The research involved three stages: material preparation, characterization and determination of factors and responses for experimental design;parameter optimization to achieve optimal conditions;and application and analysis of pre- and post-coating characteristics of pindang fish. The parameter ranges were 0.5–1.5% for alginate concentration, 0.5–1.5% for iota-carrageenan concentration and 0.5–1.0% for VCO nanoemulsion concentration. The result of this study was an optimized food coating solution that was clear and bright white in color. Pindang fish coated with this layer showed improved quality in terms of water content (48.46%), weight loss (0.39%), pH (5.84), total volatile base (47.01%), salt content (2.9%), appearance (7), texture (7) and slime (7). At the same time, the total bacterial count remained unchanged (8 log colony-forming units (CFU)/g), the mold count remained unchanged (5 log CFU/g) and the aroma and taste received a score of 6. Thus, this study successfully produced an optimized edible coating that can enhance the quality and extend the shelf life of pindang fish, making it suitable for broader market distribution. © 2023 ICE Publishing. Biomass pyrolysis has garnered significant attention as a sustainable energy production method utilizing various biomass feedstocks. Pyrolysate is any product generated from the pyrolysis process, including solid, liquid, and gas types. This review focuses on the application of analytical pyrolysis–gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) in the context of four pyrolysis modes: single feedstock pyrolysis, co-pyrolysis, catalytic pyrolysis, and catalytic co-pyrolysis to gain insights into the characteristics of the pyrolysates. A comprehensive understanding of each pyrolysis mode's unique products, benefits, and limitations is achieved by analyzing the pyrolysates of different feedstocks, including lignocellulosic and algal biomass. Moreover, this study discusses the integration of Py-GC/MS with techniques such as density function theory (DFT), which focuses on estimating the reactions’ activation energies or kinetic studies concentrating on the reaction rate and mechanism to gain further insight into pyrolysis mechanisms. Lastly, design of experiment (DoE) techniques are proposed for pyrolysis optimization to obtain a more comprehensive assessment of the parameter's influence on pyrolysis factors and levels. © 2024 The Author(s)

The purpose of this study was to obtain pie susu mocaf-spirulina products with local fruit varieties (pineapple and Balinese grapes). Mocaf (modified cassava flour) has characteristics similar to low protein flour and gluten free. Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae that is considered a super food because of its nutritional properties that are very good for health. The research method includes 1) experimental trials of the formula for mocaf spirulina pie susu, in the variation of the addition of spirulina to the formulation of mocaf pie susu 2) conduct an Organoleptic Test, with an instrument using the Visual Analog Score (VAS) for the Hedonic test (preference) 3) Perform an Organoleptic Test, with an instrument using VAS for the Hedonic Quality test (quality). The results showed: 1) obtained a pastry formulation (skin) of mocaf pie susu with the addition of 2.5 gr of spirulina (0.5% of the weight of the ingredients) ained mocaf pie susu formulation with the addition of 2.5gr spirulina to mocaf pie susu with pineapple and grape vla;2) The level of preference for mocaf spirulina pie susu (pineapple vla and grape vla) is the color of the likes category, the texture of the likes, the aroma of the likes and the taste of the likes. 3) the quality level of mocaf spirulina pie susu (pineapple vla and grape vla) is greenish color, crunchy texture, pastry fragrant aroma and sweet taste. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Water Alternating Gas (WAG) is a consolidated enhanced oil recovery method that outperforms secondary recovery methods such as waterflooding or gas injection. Optimization of the WAG parameters can increase the cost function and improve revenues, but the algorithms usually implemented require high computational resources and time. In this context, a bio-inspired algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used to determine the best candidate for only two parameters, water and gas injection time, resulting in the determination of the WAG cycle and WAG ratio, thus drastically reducing the complexity of the problem. The proposed long-term optimization algorithm was applied in a modified version of a well-known reservoir benchmark Egg model, in which the fluid composition was adapted to resemble Brazilian pre-salt reservoir fluids and WAG injection. Moreover, it is shown that the best results obtained consider longer periods of water injection and improve the NPV by 5.5%. © Copyright 2023, Offshore Technology Conference.

There are so many areas in Indonesia that are prone to landslides. Bogor is the regency with the most frequent landslides. Therefore, high community preparedness is needed to deal with the landslide, especially at the household level because it is the spearhead of preparedness and influence disaster risk. The objective of this research is to measure and analyze the level of household preparedness for facing landslide. The location of this research is in Cibadak Village, Bogor regency where a landslide disaster had happened. This is a quantitative research. The number of the samples were 100 household. Data collection was done by surveying samples and distributing questionnaires. The data would be analyzed with descriptive analysis, and the results of level of household preparedness would be categorized to five levels which were very prepared (80-100), prepared (65-79), almost prepared (55-64), less prepared (40-54), and not prepared (0-39). The results of the research are the average index value of Knowledge and Attitude (KA) parameter is 66.77, Emergency Planning (EP) parameter is 52.24, Warning System (WS) parameter is 64.80, Resources Mobilization Capacity (RMC) parameter is 51.25 and the level of household preparedness for facing landslide is 59.26 or and it is significant at the almost prepared level. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Importance of experimental methods at research reactors for validation of depletion calculation is discussed. The validation of fuel burnup and nuclide inventory, calculated with stochastic Serpent-2 and hybrid RAPID code system, is performed at JSI TRIGA research reactor. Three different experimental method for indirect burnup determination are presented. The experiments are simulated using Serpent-2 and RAPID depletion codes. First experiment is the fuel rod reactivity worth experiment, in which seven differently burned rods were inserted in the reactor and change in core reactivity was measured. Each insertion was simulated with both codes and great agreement (within 1σ) is observed for both codes. Core's excess reactivity reduction due to burnup was analyzed on three mixed TRIGA cores. Burnup reactivity coefficient was studied with both codes and accurate predictions of reactivity change were obtained. Finally, depleted nuclide inventory is used to simulate dosimetry experiment. Axial profile of 197Au(n, γ)198Au reaction rates was studied using MCNP, where fresh fuel model was compared to the burned fuel model. Fuel burnup was obtained from Serpent-2 and RAPID. The results indicate a 6 % better agreement when Serpent-2 and RAPID's burnup is used. All three experiments indicate a method on how research reactor can be used to in-directly determine and validate nuclear fuel burnup without the use of destructive methods. © 2024 AMERICAN NUCLEAR SOCIETY. This document it is established that 2 types of biogas anaerobic digester that usually found in developing country. First type is fixed dome type of anaerobic digester and secondly is floating drum biogas anaerobic digester. Both of this type have draw back that the anaerobic process is not completed with agitation process that yield low rate of biogas production. Other serious problem is the release of slurry cannot optimal. Some of the slurry will still remain stay in the anaerobic digester especially scum. To drain and cleaning the fixed dome or floating drum biogas anaerobic digester is mandatory to be done regularly that consume time and cost. The fixed dome types as well as floating drum type are usually not portable which cause no possibility to relocate in the new site. It is the purpose of this work to introduce portable biogas anaerobic digester that suitable for developing country with volume of digester around 500 liter of slurry. The requirement of agitator is facilitated, and the anaerobic digester is possible to be operated in batch system or continuous system. The material that is used for anaerobic digester is stainless steel 304 with tungsten inert gas welding technology that is used for the manufacturing. With this design the anaerobic digester are easy to be maintenance. The batch system can keep producing biogas until 52 day with total production of biogas around 3320 liters. The continuous system was conducted by releasing for about 5 liters slurry from the outlet and after that filled with new slurry with stirring with agitator was conducted for about 10 minutes for 3 times in a day (morning, noon, and evening). The result for continuous system is a linear biogas production with rate biogas production is around 51.7 liter/day (1550 liter/30days). © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

The rapid development of technology presents a new paradigm, one of which is in the transportation sector. The concept of smart mobility is one of the components in the realization of a smart city, which is closely related to the transportation sector. The Purwokerto-Purbalingga Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is the government's effort to encourage the transportation sector towards smart mobility. It requires three crucial categories: Accessibility, sustainability, and communication and information technology. This study proves and explains that these three categories can be fulfilled by the Purwokerto-Purbalingga Bus Rapid Transit, especially from women's perception, indicated by an average accessibility score of 4.04, sustainability of 4.22, and Information and Communication Technology of 3.80. Efforts that can be taken by the government and Bus Rapid Transit managers include monitoring and evaluating bus stops and bus arrival frequencies as well as developing mobile-based applications that provide real-time information related to bus rapid transit. © 2021 IEEE.

Consumption is an essential aspect of daily life, and fulfilling customer needs requires efficient distribution of goods. Therefore, distributors are needed and they frequently set targets for their employees to achieve, and motivation plays a significant role in employee performance. An organization that distributes goods called CV Karya Prima motivates its employees by offering incentives. However, manual incentive calculation sets out problems such as a lack of progress tracking, irregular payout dates, and probable inaccuracies. This study aims to develop a web-based incentive calculation system using the analytical hierarchy process method and a database for data retrieval. The system utilizes PHP, CodeIgniter, and MySQL and adopts the SDLC prototyping method. The developed system is focused on the sales division and variables like total sales, effective calls, calls, and outlets. The web-based system is capable of solving the issues using the features that were built based on user needs and have already been tested through user acceptance testing.
