Thermal management of photovoltaic module using affordable organic phase change material combined with nano metal oxide particles enhancer

Phase change materials (PCMs) have been widely recognized as a highly efficient medium for thermal energy storage. Many studies have identified the low thermal conductivity of PCMs. In the current investigation, the researchers have blended PCM with nanoparticles to enhance its thermal conductivity and electrical efficiency. Lauric acid (LA) is combined with three different nanoparticles: aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), copper oxide (CuO), and magnesium oxide (MgO) in an optimal weight proportion of 94: 6. This results in the production of nanoparticle composited phase change materials (nc-PCMs). Lauric acid and these nanoparticles are chosen based on their ability to provide a significantly lower cost compared to commercial nanoparticles, availability in Thailand, and high thermal conductivity. Additionally, this investigation selected lauric acid (fatty acid) as the PCM due to Thailand's ambient temperature (T_amb) of 38 °C. Consequently, the optimum PCM has a melting point between 41 °C and 44 °C. Research has demonstrated that the incorporation of nanoparticles increases thermal conductivity, resulting in a decrease in the PV module's temperature. The findings indicate that a combination of LA and MgO in a proportion of 94:6 constitutes the optimal nc-PCM. This composition demonstrated a 5.2 °C reduction in PV module temperature, which resulted in a notable enhancement in the average electrical efficiency of 14.11 %. Furthermore, the power output increased significantly to 14.18 %. Additionally, it compared the energy production of PV modules with nc-PCMs to that of modules without PCM. It measured the energy production differences between LA: MgO, LA: Al₂O₃, and LA: CuO at 4.38 Wh, 2.99 Wh, and 2.62 Wh, respectively, when compared to PV without cooling. © 2024 The Authors

The kidney is a human organ with numerous vital functions, mainly for blood filtration. Damage to the kidneys can be detected from albumin levels in urine, higher levels of albumin in urine indicate the kidney's filtration function is impaired. The latest breakthrough in the medical field is the use of localized sensor plasma resonance (LSPR) in the field of biosensors to detect albumin protein in urine. Using Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) simulation, the lateral size of hexagonal gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) is varied to increase the optimal LSPR. AuNPs are well-known as the most promising material for plasmonic applications. In several studies, the hexagonal geometry was reported to increase the surface area of nanoparticles as well as enhance the LSPR signal. Varying the geometry of the hexagonal AuNPs will affect their sensitivity and optical properties. In this study, the lateral size of the hexagonal AuNPs varied from 10 nm to 60 nm, with a controlled thickness of 30 nm. The absorption graph blue shifts with the peak decreasing until the graph has almost no peak as the lateral size decreases. The lateral size of 40 nm at a thickness of 30 nm was found to have the highest shifting response towards the change of refractive index, indicating good sensitivity for sensors. Simulation of hexagonal AuNPs-based LSPR detection of albumin concentrations of 0.35 –5.71 mM produces a sensitivity of 2.59 nm/mM, equivalent to 245.96 nm/RIU. The competitive performance and ease of detection procedures in real applications show the potential of the hexagonal AuNPs-based LSPR sensor to be further explored in developing alternative albumin detection techniques.

Many different industries are currently making substantial use of the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is the process through which electronic devices communicate with their surrounding virtual environment by continuously exchanging data via sensors. Due to increased IoT security concerns, digital forensic investigators now possess greater knowledge and abilities to investigate IoT devices. IoT-DigFor are required in terms of cybercrime due to the rapid growth in the number of electronic devices and the collection and consumption of enormous amounts of data. IoT systems with billions of devices have produced a significant amount of evidence, which presents a significant challenge to digital investigators and practitioners who must connect with IoT devices to conduct fast and thorough investigations into cybercrimes. This article presents detailed information about forensics in the IoT environment. The IoT forensic paradigm and the challenges that design-based security requirements and IoT system security offer for IoT-DigFor are covered in great detail at the beginning of the article. © 2023 IEEE.

With establishment of fracture toughness test for advance ceramic according ISO/FDIS 23146:2008(E) with the sample test of Single-edge V-Notch Beam/SEVNB, then the researcher related this activity should understand and able to realize how to prepare the sample of advance ceramic in order the requirements of the standard are fulfilled. In contrary with metals and polymers that usually easy to cut as the standard size for testing, the advance ceramics are found much more difficult to prepare since it is very hard and brittles. More even, specifically for fracture toughness test, the level of difficulty is added since the sharp initial crack should be introduced in the edge of the sample. This article introduce method on preparation of advance ceramic for the purpose of fracture toughness test completed with method to introduce the initial sharp V-notch crack which is valid and possible to be measured its length and diameter of the tip that yield valid result of fracture toughness test. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing. River pollution has become a severe problem in Indonesia. Industrial waste causes water pollution because the waste is not filtered before being discharged into the river. Illegal waste dumping cannot be prosecuted due to insufficient data and unknown disposal times. Therefore, a tool is needed to measure river water waste to measure polluted water waste data. Studies on river water monitoring devices have shown that there are no portable monitoring tools based on the internet of things for river water waste that follows regulatory standards from the Minister of Health. This study aims to produce a portable monitoring tool based on the internet of things for water waste. The system was developed using TDS sensors, turbidity, pH, MQ-135 sensors, and the system is equipped with a GPS module to indicate the location's latitude. The monitoring system is developed through the stages of system design, testing water samples, setting water quality standards and required hardware and components, setting river water quality parameters, and conducting system testing. The test results show that the system can send the data obtained to dashboard things via an internet connection, the TDS sensor error rate is 2.17%, the pH sensor error rate is 1.87%, the turbidity sensor error rate is 1.66%, the MQ135 sensor value is at the quality limit. The internet of things-based portable river waste monitoring system produced through this research helps related parties to identify and handle polluted rivers. Water according to the standards of the Ministry of Health, and the GPS module shows location measurements and information according to the location's latitude on google maps. © 2022 IEEE.

Over the past 150 years, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have risen significantly, causing a rise in temperatures due to disruptions in the natural carbon cycle. One proposed solution is transitioning to non-carbon fuels like hydrogen, which requires modifications to current gas turbine systems despite its higher flame temperature and flammability than carbon-based fuels. A suggested modification involves a non-premixed multi-cluster jet configuration with steam dilution to achieve a lifted flame. Steam dilution is utilized to lower the combustion temperature due to material limitations and to achieve a high systematical efficiency, which can be achieved through the Graz Cycle system. This study employs large eddy simulation (LES) to analyze oxy-hydrogen combustion with steam dilution, focusing on flow dynamics, flame structure, and combustion behavior. The study also examines the impact of oxidizer jet angles and fuel jet velocities. Three simulations with different oxidizer jet angles and four variations of fuel jet velocity reveal that narrower oxidizer jet angles produce richer combustion regions. Larger oxidizer jet angles yield less turbulent flow but a more stable flame. In contrast, higher fuel jet velocities intensify turbulence, resulting in a more stable flame. This can occur since the combustion shifts towards stoichiometric and rich combustion region as fuel jet velocity increases. A more pronounced recirculation flow and enhanced mixing process also allow the flame to hold on to the flame anchor, which helps reach a more stable flame. The maximum heat release rates within the simulation domain are approximately 270 W and 250 W for angle and fuel jet velocity cases, respectively. © 2025 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC

Travel behaviour of domestic tourists concerning their choices of transportation mode has a significant role in managing traffic in the tourist destination. This study analyses the domestic tourists' choice and their pattern of needs of transportation mode in Bali as the case study. The developed models are based on utility maximisation of underlying preferences for each of the available modes of transport. Domestic tourists are randomly selected and interviewed using the questionnaire to record their daily trips. The study result indicates that income, number of visits and travel companions significantly influence the choice of transportation mode for domestic tourists. Meanwhile, income, number of visits, length of stays, trip purpose and main issues in selecting local transport mode significantly affect the pattern of needs of transportation mode for domestic tourists. For example, two accompanying persons will be three times more than that of seven persons or more to choose motorcycle and bus than a car. Domestic tourists who have visited Bali twice will be three times more than those who visited Bali once to use travel agents and rented vehicles than public and online transport and others. Further studies on short duration trips and sustainable mode of transport are suggested. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Early detection of heart rate conditions in autistic children is crucial for anticipating tantrum reactions and providing prompt medical intervention. Previous research designed a prototype for acquiring Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals using the AD8232 sensor, but it required a long time to identify heart rate conditions. This study aims to develop the previous prototype using Internet of Things (IoT) implementation to acquire and identify the heart rate conditions of autistic children in real time. The ECG signal data is analyzed using Butterworth Filter and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) integrated into Raspberry Pi and results are transmitted to the Blynk App. Testing over 20 minutes showed that in the first 10 minutes, the system identified a normal heart rate at 105.19 BPM with 67% accuracy, while in the second 10 minutes, the heart rate rose to 117.19 BPM with tantrum symptoms and 75% accuracy. This system helps medical personnel provide immediate intervention during tantrums.

This study focuses on the economic comparison between 12 MWp PV floating and PV on-ground solar farms in an industrial estate in Thailand. The objective is to evaluate the economic feasibility and electricity-produced efficiency of both systems. This study uses models for both power generation systems and collects data on investment and operational costs over a 20-year project lifespan, using a discount rate of 10% and a Time of Use (TOU) electricity rate for medium-sized businesses with a voltage of 22–33 kV, where the peak period rate is 0.113 USD/kWh and the off-peak period rate is 0.07 USD/kWh [1]. The evaluation uses indicators such as NPV, IRR, Payback Period, B/C Ratio, and sensitivity analysis under two scenarios: 1) the investment cost changes by ±5%, while 2) the electricity selling price changes by ±5% every 5 years during peak periods. The study found that the initial investment for PV floating power plants is 8.77 million USD, while PV on-ground power plants require an initial investment of 9.36 million USD. Economic evaluation reveals that PV floating has an NPV of 1.25 million USD > 0, an IRR of 12% > 10%, a payback period of 7.07 years, and a B/C ratio of 1.14 > 1, whereas PV on-ground has an NPV of 0.36 million USD > 0, an IRR of 11%, a payback period of 7.83 years, and a B/C ratio of 1.04> 1. When conducting sensitivity analysis under both scenarios, PV floating meets all criteria, whereas PV on-ground fails to meet the criteria when variables causing a decrease in net profit are applied. As a result, the study concludes that PV floating solar farms are more economically viable than PV on-ground solar farms in Thailand's industrial estates.

Thefts problem in household needs to be anticipated with home security system. One of simple methods is using automatic solenoid door lock system, so that it is difficult to be duplicated and will reduce the chance of theft action when the house is empty. Therefore, a home security system prototype that can be accessed by utilizing biometric fingerprint, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and keypad sensors was designed and tested. Arduino Uno works to turn on the door lock solenoid, so door access will be given when authentication is successful. Experimental results show that fingerprint sensor works well by being able to read fingerprints perfectly and the average time required to scan a fingerprint was 3.7 seconds. Meanwhile, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensor detects Electronic-Kartu Tanda Penduduk (E-KTP) and the average time required for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to scan the card is about 2.4 seconds. Keypad functions to store password to unlock the door which produces the average time of 3.7 seconds after 10 trials. Average time to open with multi-sensor is 9.8 seconds. However, its drawback is no notification or SMS which directly be accessed by a cellphone or website with Wi-Fi or Telegram applications allow homeowners to monitor their doors from afar as to minimize the number of house thefts.
