Dielectrophoresis-based biochips with various microelectrode configurations have been extensively studied within the last five deca des. However, wide-field application is still challenging. This study aims to fabricate an oblique-configuration microelectrode and then utilizes it to determine the dielectrophoretic (DEP) characteristics of Lactobacillus casei based on the generated non-uniform electric field. The electric field distribution on microelectrodes was simulated with Quickfield 6.6 student version. The microelectrodes were fabricated using a copper film on a glass substrate. The DEP characteristic of Lactobacillus casei was investigated by applying a sinusoidal AC signal to microelectrodes in medium solution with an electrical conductivity of 0.05 S/m. The electric-field simulations show that the strongest electric-field was generated on the tip of electrodes spacing, and the weakest electric-field was generated on the inner of electrodes spacing. The negative-DEP force on Lactobacillus casei was observed at the frequency of 60-130 kHz, while the positive-DEP force was observed at the frequency of 380-700 kHz, both at voltage of 2-6 Vpp. The nDEP force led Lactobacillus casei to be pushed toward the weak electric field on the inner of electrodes spacing, and the pDEP force induced Lactobacillus casei to be attracted toward the strong electric-field on the tip of electrodes spacing. This study implies that the proposed oblique-microelectrode platform has promising application for bioparticles separation. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This review presents the significance and current challenges associated with fossil fuels, highlighting the need for cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. The significant object of the current study is to concentrate on increased interest in utilizing biogas as a viable substitute for traditional fuels, delving into its characteristics, benefits, accessibility, feasibility, and prospects as an environmentally sustainable energy option. The current study extensively analyses the prospect and significance of biogas in mitigating emissions regulations in Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs). This paper provides a comprehensive overview of recent research on incorporating biogas in internal combustion engines, focusing on emission reduction and the corresponding impact on engine performance. The subject matter encompasses a range of facets about biogas, encompassing its origins, chemical composition, purification, enhancement techniques, and requisite engine adjustments to enable the effective utilization of biogas as an alternative fuel. The study also evaluates the performance of biogas-fuelled ICEs based on the results of cross-referencing with contemporary research and investigates peripheral aspects such as additive inclusion to increase biogas capabilities as fuel and potential applications in advanced engine modes of operation. The review identifies research gaps in the domains of biogas processing and utilization in ICEs and acknowledges existing challenges specific to the adoption of biogas as a conventional fuel alternative. Future research directions are also prescribed, further highlighting the importance of transitioning from fossil fuels to meet environmental goals and global energy demands. © 2024 The Institution of Chemical Engineers

The Indonesian government is currently implementing an induction stove program to replace the use of LPG stoves. The 2021 report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that LPG is used by 83.36% of the Indonesian population as a cooking fuel. Expenditure on LPG subsidies is influenced by international crude oil prices set through the Contract Price Aramco (CPA). Analysis shows that the gas prices set by the CPA have significantly increased in the past five years, becoming one of the factors contributing to the subsidy burden on the state budget (APBN). Therefore, it is necessary to find breakthrough solutions to minimize future APBN expenditures. The LPG to induction stove conversion program is expected to reduce subsidy burdens, improve energy efficiency, and influence consumer behavior in choosing more efficient cooking appliances. © 2023, The Authors. The present progress in implementing artificial intelligence (AI) has encountered attitudes in human existence, encompassing both professional and everyday aspects, particularly within higher education. AI does not exclude those with anxiety, especially social anxiety, over the existence of technology and all types of complexity. Several types of research have established a correlation between social and technical blindness and views toward broad AI usage. However, no specific gender or age-generation characteristics have been identified. This study employs quantitative research methodology, specifically Smart-PLS software for PLS-SEM modelling. The research included a sample of 93 lecturers, both male and female, from generations X and Y in Indonesia. The findings of this study demonstrate that social technical blindness detrimentally impacts individuals' views toward the utilization of AI. From a gender standpoint, the path coefficients have no notable disparity. Therefore, the path coefficients for both women and men are not significantly distinct. Consequently, the need for greater awareness and understanding of AI's social and technological aspects impacts both women and men. This research provides practical implications by enhancing instructors' comprehension and perception of AI's efficacy, aiming to mitigate prevailing concerns. In theory, this research enhances the concept of self-determination theory. Subsequent investigations can include the constraints of this study, such as the specific nature and duration of artificial intelligence utilization. © 2024 IEEE.

The main purpose of this research is to develop and evaluate a solar tracking system which able to maximize the power output of the solar panel. The design of the solar tracking system consists of some electronic components such as an Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller, four light-dependent resistors (LDRs), two servo motors, and one solar panel. The Arduino microcontroller acts as the main controller of the whole system, light-dependent resistor is used as a light sensor to detect sunlight while the function of the servo motor is to rotate the solar panel to align with the sunlight. The prototype of the solar tracking system was build and tested. The data result obtained are tabulated and the comparison of performance between the static solar panel and solar tracking system is showed using the graphical method. As a result, solar panels with tracking mechanisms can generate more current, voltage, and power than static solar panels. The overall efficiency of the solar panel had increased after the implementation of the tracking system. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

This work is intended to compare the SEVNB and the SCF methods for fracture toughness testing. Both of the test methods are applied to a silicon nitride. Both methods are standardized and both have some minor shortcomings with respect to practicability and match of the theoretical description of the test situation with the actual test situation. SEVNB is easy to perform, but uses a notch of known depth (+ small micro-cracks of unknown size in front of a notch) instead of a crack, SCF uses a presumably residual stress-free indentation crack which is sometimes difficult to measure, not always semi-elliptical, as assumed to apply the evaluation formula, and may be accompanied by lateral cracks. Both methods will be analysed with respect to possible experimental errors. Variations of the SCF method are applied in order to examine how pre-cracks can be introduced which can be detected on the fracture surface. The geometry of the SCF-pre-crack is varied by applying different loads and by removing different amounts of material. The geometry of the Knoop pre-cracks system is investigated. The results help to identify conditions under which the SCF method can be used successfully to measure the fracture toughness of silicon nitride ceramics. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing. Nowadays, the world is suffering from global warming, hence the Earth's temperature rises, this problem affects our lives in different ways. Moreover, the scientists have not found a ground solution for global warming. However, they are searching for methods of avoidance, so they could ameliorate the risk of human beings getting affected, as they could never stop this natural phenomenon from occurring. Not only global warming affects us, but also affects automobiles roaming on the Earth's surface. If cars are parked in a sunny area for long time, the temperature inside will increase and the seats would be boiling hot. Therefore, the driver has to wait until the seats cool off so he could get going, as he might be negatively affected by the car's high temperature. The launch of electric vehicles with a few battery charging stations is another hurdle for its sustainability. The work presented in this paper is development of a canopy to protect the cars from the Sun and use it to charge these cars with a certain design by setting a solar panel of specific dimensions at the roof of the car. The developed canopy is controlled during charging. The canopy is a low cost and plug-play kind of solution which can be purchased as an accessory and can be fitted on the rooftop. © 2023

This study analyzes the relationship across user experience, delivery satisfaction, and trust within the domain of e-commerce. The variables are assessed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) to identify their interaction. This research utilised a survey approach for collecting data from a sample of 151 participants, with the intent of interpreting their points of view. The findings suggest a significant correlation across user experience and trust in the framework of online purchase. Moreover, this study demonstrates that the satisfaction of customers with the delivery process plays a role in the creation of trust, but to a lesser extent compared to the user experience. These findings provide useful insights into the approaches that online platforms could utilize to establish and maintain the trust of their users.

Ornamental fish are a type of fish that live in freshwater or seawater habitats and are typically maintained for aesthetic purposes, often in ornamental ponds or as household pets. The diversity of colors, shapes, and patterns observed in ornamental fish presents a challenge in their classification. Therefore, a method capable of accurately recognizing the visual characteristics of these fish is required. The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of two Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures, specifically VGG-16 and U-Net, using five distinct types of ornamental fish, namely Angel Fish, Betta Fish, Clown Fish, Gold Fish, and Guppy Fish. The dataset comprises 3.240 images that have been processed using TensorFlow and Keras on Google Collaboratory. The results demonstrated that U-Net demonstrated superior performance in segmentation, with an Average Intersection over Union (IoU) of 58.91 % and an Average Dice Coefficient of 73.72%. In contrast, VGG-16 exhibited signs of overfitting, as evidenced by lower evaluation metrics. To enhance the efficacy of the transfer learning model, further optimization is recommended.

Titanium dioxide with suitable band edges is one of promising photocatalysts for water splitting. Nanotubes with one-dimensional structure can induce efficient charge transfers and hollow centers can provide large surface area for surface reactions. Modifying Ti foils for anodization can enhance light utilization of TiO2 nanotube photoelectrodes. In this work, it is firstly to fabricate TiO2 nanotube photoelectrodes on acid-etched Ti foils by anodization (MNT) for photoelectrochemical catalyzing water splitting. Different acid-etching durations are applied on Ti foils to induce various rugged surfaces. The resulting photoelectrodes present largely enhanced light utilization than that fabricated by the pristine Ti foil. The anodization duration is also optimized to find suitable lengths of MNT. The smallest overpotential of 524.7 mV at 10 mA/cm2 and Tafel slope of 167 mV/dec are obtained for the optimal MNT photoelectrode. The TiO2 nanotubes grown on the pristine Ti foil shows the overpotential of 679.3 mV at 10 mA/cm2 and Tafel slope of 285 mV/dec. This result opens a blueprint for raising the photocatalytic ability by simply modifying the surface property of the conductive substrate. Other modifications may be applicable to enhance the roughness of Ti foils for growing more efficient MNT array as photocatalysis of water splitting. © 2023 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC
