Diabetes is a leading cause of disability and death. Moreover, it has a huge social and economic impact. Patients with diabetes have a better quality of life when they receive insulin properly than without it. However, some diabetic patients have trypanophobia, so they often avoid insulin injections resulting in life-threatening conditions. Therefore, this study aims to develop microneedle patches for transdermal insulin delivery to reduce pain from insulin injection and extend the shelf-life of insulin stored at room temperature. The insulin microneedle patches were fabricated by coating a mixture of insulin and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) on plastic microneedle patches. A histological section showed that the microneedles had excellent mechanical strength to penetrate porcine cadaver skin. The stability test using the insulin Elisa kit indicated good stability of the insulin/PVA coated on the microneedle patches stored at room temperature whereas its biological activity was higher than 90% after 30 days of storage. © 2021 ECBIOS 2021. In Indonesia, motorcycle is the most popular form of transportation because of their convenience and economical. Motorcycles dominate more than 85% of vehicles on the road. Ironically, the number of motorcycle-related accidents rise and now account for about 73% of all traffic accidents. Aim of this research is to understand motorcyclist behavior, other road user, and related traffic conditions. The Naturalistic Driving study (NDS) method is used to gather data. A camera was mounted to participant’s motorcycle to capture their driving behaviors and traffic condition. The participants of this study were drawn from 6 cities across 3 major islands in Indonesia. There were 79 participants with a total journey distance approximately 1036 km and a journey duration nearly 40 hours. The video recordings were then observed by observers in each city to determine the safety critical events (SCE). There was no significant difference in the number of SCEs that occur in each city, but there was a significant difference when it comes to the causes of SCEs. This research found that the largest number of violations (30-80%) occur due to factors related to other road user, such as near crash with other road users when overtaking vehicles in front of them, other road users from the opposite direction driving in the wrong lane/side or lane used by the driver, or near crash with other road users who suddenly change lanes in front of them. In this research, it was also found that the number of SCEs that occurred was not affected by the distance and driving duration. This study supports previous research that the main cause of violations is human error. However, the occurrence of SCE is not only caused by the driver himself but through this research it is found that other road users are a critical factor. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The mechanical behavior of a reinforced polylactic material with perolera pineapple fiber study is presented in order to determine its potential as an alternative industrial input material. First, the necessary information about the lactic acid production with biodegradable materials and materials reinforced with natural fibers was collected;secondly, the procedure to be followed to generate the raw material with which the composite material was developed was defined. Thirdly, the material testing experimental design reinforced with perolera pineapple fiber was made;and finally, the stress tests were carried out on the already reinforced composite material to know its mechanical properties and determine its behavior. The results obtained allow a behavior comparison of tensile resistance of PLA and PLA reinforced with pineapple fiber. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Patients with knee arthropathy suffer from pain owing to damage at the knee joint cartilage and experience difficulty in walking as the condition worsens. As one of treatments of knee arthropathy, an implantation of cellular cartilage has been performed. After implantation of cellular cartilage, the knee joint should avoid overweight to prevent cell damage form body weight and apply appropriate mechanical stress to articular cartilage to promote cartilage regeneration. Therefore, a weight support system which can adjust the amount of weight in everyday use is required. This study aims to develop an in-clothes body weight support system to protect the knee joint during daily walking to support knee arthropathy treatment and recovery in regenerative medicine, and confirm basic performance of the system through experiments with able-bodied person. The system had frame structure with two-node link from the groin to the foot with the user's knee joint as the center of rotation. It consisted of load-bearing seat, height adjustment mechanism, thigh cuff, mechanical knee joint, and, ground reaction force sensor shoes, and was designed to be sufficiently thin to fit inside clothes. In the 10-Meter walking test, the system could adjust the amount of supporting weight and support two-thirds, one-half, and one-third of total body weight of an able-bodied participant during walking. In conclusion, we confirmed that the developed system had basic performance of weight support. © 2022 IEEE.

Indonesia has a high tendency of having landslides. Bogor is one of regency which is very prone to landslide disaster due to high rainfall. Landslides are a very dangerous threat to public safety. The preparedness can build disaster resilient communities that can support the national resilience. Sociodemographic characteristic and disaster experience are determining factors for the success of preparedness. The purpose of this research is to develop a model of the influence of sociodemographic characteristics and disaster experience toward household preparedness for facing landslide. This research is done in Cibadak Village, Sukamakmur Bogor. This research uses a quantitative approach with 100 sample of households. Multiple linear regression technique is used for analyzing the model. The results of the research showed that household preparedness is significantly influenced by sociodemographic characteristics which is education (p = 0.000), meanwhile age, income and the number of family member don't significantly influence. Beside that the household preparedness is also greatly influenced by disaster experience too (p = 0.000). Education influence on household preparedness for facing landslide as much as 38.81% and the disaster experience is 52.85%. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In this study, the experimental performance of a commercial heat pump tumble dryer (HPTD) system integrated with photovoltaic (PV) was evaluated using energy and exergy analysis. Additionally, a sustainability and exergoeconomic performance analysis of system components was conducted to identify components in need of improvement. Only 17.6% of the energy generated by the panels was consumed by the HPTD system, with the remaining portion being utilized by other laboratory devices connected to the same grid, contributing to a sustainable future. In addition to meeting the energy demand, the PV system satisfied the entire power requirement of the HPTD system. It was determined that the drying chamber and the compressor together accounted for 74.53% of the total exergy destruction in the system, with this cost being predominantly incurred during the drying process. Moreover, based on the exergy, sustainability, and exergoeconomic analyses conducted, it was concluded that the drying chamber, integrated with the fan unit, exhibited the lowest exergy efficiency (57.04%), the highest waste exergy ratio (0.83) and the lowest exergoeconomic factor value (0.716) among the system components, indicating the need for improvement in the fan-integrated drying chamber. © 2024, The Authors. The widespread implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in various industries, including healthcare, provides significant benefits but raises concerns. Notably, apprehensions about AI generating issues, experiencing malfunctions, and hindering work extend to fears of replacing medical professional positions. This research aims to quantitatively assess the impact of anxiety forms, specifically social, technical blindness and AI configuration, on job replacement anxiety among medical doctors. A pre-test approach was employed to gather data from 38 doctors in Jakarta who regularly interact with AI in their daily work. The study used PLS-SEM structural modelling with SmartPLS 3.0 as the analysis tool. Findings indicate that both social and technical blindness and AI configuration significantly influence job replacement anxiety. Additionally, the study reveals that elements within the AI configuration interact with social-technical blindness, and the AI setup effectively mitigates its impact on job replacement anxiety. These anxieties notably affect medical professionals' fears of being replaced in their current roles. Previous research shows that anxiety about AI among healthcare personnel is persistent. However, this worry can be reduced or eliminated through continuous awareness, education, and understanding of AI's purpose and limitations. This study aims to provide medical practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of AI constraints and the aspects requiring direct doctor involvement. © 2024 IEEE.

An omnichannel retail strategy integrates multiple channels, enabling customers to shop across all available online and offline channels at the same time. This strategy is required to overcome different obstacles that develop as a result of changes in the retailer's business environment. This study aims to provide an overview of the extent to which SMEs in Indonesia implement an omnichannel strategy. Omnichannel retail implementation in SMEs has shown positive developments in recent years. They recognize the importance of providing a consistent and unified shopping experience across multiple channels. In this context, the marketplace is essential for SMEs to expand their reach of customers in various locations. However, despite positive developments, there are still some challenges to implementing omnichannel for SMEs in Indonesia. These challenges include dynamic changes in consumer behavior, limited staff capabilities, and the mindset of SME leaders or owners.

The increasing use of digital payment systems has led to a rise in fraudulent activities, presenting a significant challenge in ensuring secure transactions. This research focuses on implementing the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm with a Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel to detect fraud in digital payment systems. One of the main challenges addressed in this study is the severe class imbalance in the dataset, where fraudulent transactions account for only 0.17% of total transactions. To overcome this, the SMOTE (Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique) method was applied to balance the dataset, allowing the model to better recognize fraudulent patterns. The results indicate that the SVM model achieved an accuracy of 99.93%, with a precision of 86.23% and a recall of 75.51%. These results demonstrate that SVM, combined with SMOTE and RBF kernel, is highly effective in detecting fraudulent transactions while minimizing false positives. This research provides a strong foundation for improving fraud detection models in the context of digital payment systems, offering enhanced security and trust for users. Further research could explore hybrid models and real-time data analysis to improve performance.

Steady-State Visually Evoked Potentials (SSVEP) based Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) offer significant potential in assistive and rehabilitation technologies. However, the performance of SSVEP detection is often compromised by artifacts in Electroencephalography (EEG) signals and inter-subject variability, among other factors. This study introduces a subject-specific p reprocessing p ipeline a imed a t enhancing SSVEP signal detection accuracy. The proposed method involves a dual-stage approach, utilizing EEG signals recorded both during a baseline rest state and during tasks known to induce artifacts. By establishing a personalized reference for each subject, the pipeline enables more accurate artifact detection and removal. The pipeline's efficacy w as e valuated u sing Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) on an open EEG dataset, with performance assessed across varying time segments (1, 2, 3 y 4 s). Detection accuracy was calculated to quantify performance in SSVEP detection. The performance of the proposed method for the 4-second time segment was superior (96.44%) compared to the standard method (93.78%). The results demonstrate the pipeline's potential to improve the reliability of SSVEP-based BCIs, particularly in highly contaminated signals.
