The covid-19 pandemic case has changed the structure of life in all aspects throughout the world. The field of man-made environment or architecture is no exception. The interior arrangement of a building, as part of the man-made environment, is also affected. The interior design of a building today seems to be obliged to participate in following the standards of new health-protocols in the new normal *** about the interior of the building that has already been utilized? Of course it requires further study to find out whether the interior of a building can be said to be healthy or not. This study aims to examine the interior design of the lecturer room E12 building 2nd floor UNNES in terms of health that is emphasized from the behavior of its users by referring to the situation of the covid-19 pandemic and its future prospects. The research method used is by field observations to search visual data, observing user behavior and textual data. Those who are categorized as users of the lecturer room E12 building 2nd floor UNNES are lecturers from the Department of Architecture, students, administrators and guests. The results of this study indicate that based on the pattern of user behavior and associated with the standard requirements of space, area, volume of space, material and infrastructure conditions, interior design of lecturer room E12 building 2nd floor UNNES, is included in healthy category, although there are several minor corrections that can be included as suggestions for improvement in order to adjust to the new normal era during the covid-19 pandemic period and thereafter. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Viscoelastic fluid flow in a slowly varying planar contraction: the role of finite extensibility on the pressure drop

We analyze the steady viscoelastic fluid flow in slowly varying contracting channels of arbitrary shape and present a theory based on the lubrication approximation for calculating the flow rate–pressure drop relation at low and high Deborah (De) numbers. Unlike most prior theoretical studies leveraging the Oldroyd-B model, we describe the fluid viscoelasticity using a FENE-CR model and examine how the polymer chains’ finite extensibility impacts the pressure drop. We employ the low-Deborah-number lubrication analysis to provide analytical expressions for the pressure drop up to O(De4). We further consider the ultra-dilute limit and exploit a one-way coupling between the parabolic velocity and elastic stresses to calculate the pressure drop of the FENE-CR fluid for arbitrary values of the Deborah number. Such an approach allows us to elucidate elastic stress contributions governing the pressure drop variations and the effect of finite extensibility for all De. We validate our theoretical predictions with two-dimensional numerical simulations and find excellent agreement. We show that, at low Deborah numbers, the pressure drop of the FENE-CR fluid monotonically decreases with De, similar to the previous results for the Oldroyd-B and FENE-P fluids. However, at high Deborah numbers, in contrast to a linear decrease for the Oldroyd-B fluid, the pressure drop of the FENE-CR fluid exhibits a non-monotonic variation due to finite extensibility, first decreasing and then increasing with de. Nevertheless, even at sufficiently high Deborah numbers, the pressure drop of the FENE-CR fluid in the ultra-dilute and lubrication limits is lower than the corresponding Newtonian pressure drop. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper provides a comprehensive comparative analysis of the performance of four bioinspired algorithms (Differential Evolution, Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm, Moth-flame Optimization, and Particle Swarm Optimization) in designing a flatness-based controller for a ball and beam system simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The assessment involves the tuning of feedback gains utilizing four distinct fitness functions: Integral Square Error, Integral Absolute Error, Integral Time Absolute Error, and an ad-hoc cost function. Hypothesis tests are employed to choose the optimal controllers from each combination for every bioinspired algorithm and a fitness function. Subsequently, a control performance analysis of these controllers for the ball and beam system is conducted, focusing on critical parameters such as overshoot, settling time, and steady-state error. This analysis demonstrates that all the controllers achieve a zero steady-state error. Noteworthy is the flatness-based controller tuned with the bioinspired Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm and utilizing the Integral Time Absolute Error fitness function, which stands out for achieving the fastest response with the lowest overshoot. This particular controller emerges as the most recommended choice for the specified application.

The Cengklik Reservoir is operated for irrigation of rice fields in 3 sub-districts in Boyolali Regency, namely Sambi, Ngemplak, and Nogosari. At the present time, the volume of the Cengklik Reservoir has decreased and resulted in dryness during the dry season. One of the main causes is due to the high sedimentation rate. This research was conducted to evaluate changes in land use that resulted in sedimentation in the Cengklik Reservoir. Erosion prediction in this study uses USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) analysis. The amount of sediment obtained uses the standard erosion data from USLE calculations, namely by multiplying the amount of erosion by the SDR and the area of River Basin. The potential for erosion and sedimentation used land use data for 10 years, from 2009 to 2019. Based on the research, the amount of erosion and sedimentation in the Cengklik Reservoir was fluctuated with the highest amount occurring in 2016, with erosion of 9,292 tones/ha/year and sedimentation of 4304,154 tons/year. In general, erosion and sedimentation have increased from 2009 to 2019. The classification of erosion in the Cengklik Reservoir according to this study was categorized as light erosion. The trap efficiency used in this study was calculated using formulae based on the research of Heinemann (1981) using the Brune method for small reservoirs with an area of less than 0.5 km2. In general, based on this study, the Trap Efficiency in Cengklik Reservoir was 95.254%. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This work is done to investigate and assess the beneficial role and added value of employing a thin layer of nano-ceramic coating to protect the components of a centrifugal pump. A case study is considered, representing a centrifugal pump operating in the Arab Potash Company (APC). The ANSYS software package was used which implements numerical finite element analysis (FEA), 3D modeling, and mathematical simulations. Variables, including Von Mises stresses, deformations, and strains, were investigated associated with a number of situations related to the operation of corrosive potash salt and coating layer. Based on the numerical analysis, the research results revealed that employing a thin layer of ceramic coating protective layer could minimize the dynamic Von Mises strength's impact on the centrifugal pump's impeller and casing by 35.55%. Furthermore, it was found that utilizing a protective layer of thin-nano ceramic could alleviate the total deformations of the centrifugal pump's impeller and casing by 67.01%. It was found that using a protective layer of the thin nano-ceramic could mitigate the equivalent elastic strain on the centrifugal pump's impeller and casing by 90.14%. It was noted that maximum total deformations occur at the tip of the blades. Coating the centrifugal pump parts could improve its components' lifespan by reducing wear, corrosion, and abrasion rates.

Nowadays, industrial processes are creating increasing demands for optimized and efficient sensing systems and require high reliability and a short time interval for information delivery. This paper presents an embedded sensor system that uses the ESP-NOW protocol with a Mesh and Ad Hoc network, in order to provide an auto mesh configuration upon failure at some point in the network. This system was implemented to monitor the variables of an induction motor, after which, before sending the data to the cloud, local processing is performed to reduce the volume of data. Finally, a computer simulation of the WROOM-32 module is performed for a thermal analysis during its operation, where the heating points of the plate are identified and analyzed, in order to validate that the system, even processing a large amount of data, maintains a high reliability during its operation.

Aluminum and its alloys are used to make a number of automotive components. It is due to aluminum’s light weight, anti-corrosiveness, formability, and affordable price. However, numerous procedures have been carried out to boost its strength due to mechanical characteristics, one of which is artificial aging. The effects of aging on the fatigue life of aluminum 2024-T351 will be examined in this study. The technique of treating the solution involved heating it to 500 oC for an hour and then immediately cooling it to room temperature. By reheating the aluminum alloy to 180 oC and maintaining heat there for a variety of 2, 4, and 6 hours, the fake aging process was continued. The goal was to obtain various precipitation types in anticipation of an increase in the material’s fatigue life. Then, a reversed bending test was carried out with loads of 1.0, 0.9, 0.7, 0.5, and 0.4 σu. The results of the study indicated that aging time had an influence on the fatigue life of aluminum alloy 2024-T351. Fatigue life lengthens with increasing aging time. The increase in fatigue life ranges from 13.3–63.3% compared to aluminum without heat treatment.

The use of automated goods transfer robots, capable of autonomously moving items from one point to another without the need for manual operation, is widely adopted in various industries. The Waypoint GPS navigation method can be employed in developing an automated goods transfer robot. This research focuses on the design and development of a robot using two Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates for navigation and a smartphone as the user interface, equipped with ultrasonic sensors as input. The main components utilized in this robot include the Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller, neo-7M GPS module, HC-06 Bluetooth module, SR-04 sensor, and omni-directional wheels. The position data is obtained by converting the two GPS coordinates into distance and direction values. These values are further translated into Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signals, which are used to drive the robot's motors. To avoid collision, fuzzy logic is employed to regulate the PWM signals. The research results demonstrate that the robot can autonomously navigate from one point to another based on the provided coordinates while effectively avoiding obstacles. The findings of this study address a research gap in the application of the Waypoint GPS navigation method for goods transfer robots. The purpose of this research is to design and develop a robot that can autonomously transfer goods using the proposed method. The methodology involves the integration of GPS coordinates, smartphone interface, ultrasonic sensors, and motor control mechanisms. The results indicate successful navigation from the origin to the desired destination, following the specified coordinates, and obstacle avoidance capability. In conclusion, the developed robot utilizing the Waypoint GPS navigation method showcases promising potential for automated goods transfer applications. Magnetic induction tomography (MIT) is a technique used for imaging electromagnetic properties of objects using eddy current effects. The non-linear characteristics had led to more difficulties with its solution especially in dealing with low conductivity imaging materials such as biological tissues. Two methods that could be applied for MIT image processing which is the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) and the Algebraic Reconstruction Technique (ART). ART is widely used in the industry due to its ability to improve the quality of the reconstructed image at a high scanning speed. GAN is an intelligent method which would be able to carry out the training process. In the GAN method, the MIT principle is used to find the optimum global conductivity distribution and it is described as a training process and later, reconstructed by a generator. The output is an approximate reconstruction of the distribution's internal conductivity image. Then, the results were compared with the previous traditional algorithm, namely the regularization algorithm of BPNN and Tikhonov Regularization method. It turned out that GAN had able to adjust the non-linear relationship between input and output. GAN was also able to solve non-linear problems that cannot be solved in the previous traditional algorithms, namely Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) and Tikhonov Regularization method. There are several other intelligent algorithms such as CNN (Convolution Neural Network) and K-NN (K-Nearest Neighbor), but such algorithms have not been able to produce the expected image quality. Thus, further study is still needed for the improvement of the image quality. The expected result in this study is the comparison of these two techniques, namely ART and GAN to get the best results on the image reconstruction using MIT.
