Surface wettability is the ability of a liquid to adhere to a solid surface, determined by the interaction between the liquid and the solid, primarily influenced by the liquid's surface tension and the solid's properties. The surface wettability can distinguish the surfaces into three categories, hydrophilic, hydrophobic, and superhydrophobic. Surface wettability plays various important roles in medical implants, drug delivery systems, and tissue engineering. It also plays an important role in microfluidics, textiles, surface coating materials, and solar panels. The conventional approaches to finding surface wettabilities using experiments may be costly and time-consuming. Hence, this work integrates the pseudo-potential lattice Boltzmann method and deep learning approach for analyzing and predicting surface wettability using solid-fluid interaction parameters (Gads). First, we develop an LBM model for collecting surface wettability data with various parameters. We consider the solid-fluid interaction parameter and droplet radius for analyzing the wettability. We then develop deep learning models using LSTM and do various experiments to find the best models in terms of R2 score and Mean-Squared Error (MSE) for the performance evaluation. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to effectively manage power demand, optimize energy usage, and integrate distributed renewable energy production, home energy management systems, or HEMSs, are essential. The primary aim is to optimize energy efficiency while maintaining customer comfort. Numerous factors, including as energy prices, meteorological conditions, load the profiles, and customer comfort levels, influence how HEMSs function. They greatly reduce the amount of power used in both personal and business smart networks as they become more and more common. This study performs a comprehensive analysis of the body of research on HEMS, including key ideas, configurations, and the supporting technologies that support their operation. Giving a thorough review of the status of HEMS innovation and its uses today is the aim. The study also discusses popular communication methods used in demand management applications and analyzes current advancements in HEMS computing. The study that follows provides readers with a comprehensive overview of current and upcoming developments in HEMS technology and solutions. Presenting a polished and original synthesis of the current material while preserving its integrity and excluding any needless elaboration is the aim. © 2023 IEEE.

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) play an essential role in modern grids by supporting renewable power systems, improving grid power quality through voltage and frequency regulation, and supporting electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. At the same time, and with the rapid growth of EVs, an enormous number of EV batteries will be retired soon. These second-use EV batteries still have approximately 80% capacity and can be utilized in stationary applications like grid-connected BESSs to reduce the emissions from producing new batteries for energy storage systems. Directly producing multilevel AC from batteries reduces cost by eliminating the need for an explicit conventional inverter. In this paper, a framework is presented for optimizing the multilevel integration of power processing in BESSs, which is particularly applicable to BESSs with heterogeneous second-use batteries. © 2023 IEEE.

Friction is the drawback in automotive and industrial machining parts and assembly. To overcome the wear loss due to friction the surface property must be enhanced using suitable technology. Arc deposition is a PVD type of coating which improves the property such as hardness, roughness, corrosion, and tribological on a server work environment. Titanium nitride (TiN) and titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) are hard ceramic coating materials. The mechanical and wear properties of stainless steel (SS304) coated with Method of cathodic arc deposition (CAD) The ability to slide against Ti–6Al–4 V alloy has improved significantly. The three coated samples' surface hardness, roughness, and wear rate are measured and compared. The applied tension (2–6 N), sliding velocity (0.32–0.75 m/s), and sliding distance (580–1500 m) tribological parameters are modified during the wear test with the ball-on-disc. In comparison to other types of coatings, On the SS316L surface, the TiN coating provides exceptional mechanical and tribological properties. © 2023

The efficiency and reliability of engine parts are largely governed by friction. The valve train assembly is considered one of the extremely difficult assemblies in terms of its tribological performance and is often subjected to severe and unsteady functional conditions leading towards friction and wear of components. In this research work, a comprehensive numerical approach addressing mixed lubrication theory will be presented to investigate the frictional performance of a roller follower valve train system considering the impact of roller sliding, asperity interaction and friction arising from associated components under different operating conditions. A direct relationship between total drive torque and camshaft rotational frequency has been found predicting an increase in sliding friction due to roller slip on the camshaft surface. Relatively greater magnitude of roller sliding was observed in cam flank regions resulting in high sliding friction. A rise in hydrodynamic friction was found due to the shearing of a relatively thick oil film at a low lubricant supply temperature. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently,the path planning problem may be considered one of the most interesting researched topics in autonomous *** is why finding a safe path in a cluttered environment for a mobile robot is a significant requisite.A promising route planning for mobile robots on one side saves time and,on the other side,reduces the wear and tear on the robot,saving the capital *** route planning methods for the mobile robot have been developed and *** to our best knowledge,no method offers an optimum solution among the existing *** Swarm Optimization(PSO),a numerical optimization method based on the mobility of virtual particles in a multidimensional space,is considered one of the best algorithms for route planning under constantly changing environmental *** the researchers,reactive methods are increasingly common and extensively used for the training of neural networks in order to have efficient route planning for mobile *** paper proposes a PSO Weighted Grey Wolf Optimization(PSOWGWO)*** is a hybrid algorithm based on enhanced Grey Wolf Optimization(GWO)with *** order to measure the statistical efficiency of the proposed algorithm,Wilcoxon rank-sum and ANOVA statistical tests are *** experimental results demonstrate a 25%to 45%enhancement in terms of Area Under Curve(AUC).Moreover,superior performance in terms of data size,path planning time,and accuracy is demonstrated over other state-of-the-art techniques.

Existing design methods for off-axis reflective optical systems have certain limitations, such as complicated design processes, lengthy calculations and experience dependence. This study establishes an integrated generation method for the initial system of off-axis reflective optical systems and proposes it as a solution to the aforementioned limitations and for improvement of the design quality and efficiency of off-axis reflective systems. First, the tilt matrix and displacement matrix are introduced to consider changes in the shapes and space poses of the mirrors, and a simplified mathematical modeling method for arbitrary pose mirrors in an off-axis reflective system is proposed. Then, a mirror mathematical model of an arbitrary mirror relative to an arbitrary reference mirror is established by introducing the relative pose relationship between the two mirrors. Then, a model for the mirror-to-mirror and mirror-to-image transfer optical path in the off-axis mirror system is constructed, and the initial system for an off-axis reflective optical system can be automatically and quantitatively calculated. Experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper exhibits the advantages of high practicability, low requirements for designers' experience, easy to obtain design and manufacturing automation and intellectualization. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent work on diverse planning has focused on a two-step setting where the first step consists of generating a large number of plans, and the second step consists of selecting a subset of plans that maximizes diversity. For the second step, previous work has focused on solving a combinatorial optimization problem for diverse subset selection that can be approximated using greedy search. In this work, we propose a flexible, bi-criteria framework for diverse plan selection. Our framework consists of optimizing both quality and diversity, generalizing previous work and providing flexibility to prioritize one objective over the other. We consider two quality and two diversity measures and show that greedy search guarantees an approximation with a constant ratio for certain configurations based on established results in the literature. To allow users to trade off additional computation for better solutions, we introduce a beam search approximation that generalizes the greedy search, and we provide approximation guarantees on the obtained solutions. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments that show that: (1) our flexible bi-criteria framework allows us to obtain solutions of better quality while still maintaining a high degree of diversity;(2) our beam search approximation obtains significant improvement in performance over greedy search and, for a large number of instances, is able to generate solutions that are equal to or better than those obtained by an exact MIP solver with a significantly higher runtime limit. © 2024, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (***). In this paper, we propose a soft humanoid hand with a C-shaped joint and granular-jamming palm. The C-shaped joint with spring steel strip has low forward stiffness and can be easily bent, while its inherent elasticity enables it to return to its original position. The reverse stiffness of the joint is higher, providing strong support. The granular-jamming palm endows the soft humanoid hand with superhuman capabilities. Then the required bending moment for joint bending was derived through theoretical analysis of the C-shaped joint. The experimental platform was built, and the grasping, adhesion, and weight-bearing experiments were carried out. The results demonstrate the superior performance of the soft humanoid hand with a C-shaped joint and granular-jamming palm. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.
