Relying on the two different regulatory effects of T cells of promoting or suppressing in varied immune phases,it ensures that the biological immune system responds rapidly and keeps its sound stability when different types of antigens invade,and thereby remains the balance within the biology *** for reference of the collaborative immune mechanism of the T cells and B cells in the biological specific immunity process,this paper presents an artificial immune approach and have it applied into the intelligent vehicle *** the model of the intelligent vehicle steering system is established,and then biological immune mechanism is interpreted with feedback control theory to achieve the intelligent control by artificial immune *** the end system simulation is conducted through MATLAB software and comparisons are made as well to the control effect of normal PID *** show that the artificial controllers work much better than the normal PID controllers in both response rate and dynamic *** approach provides a new feasible way for intelligent vehicle controlling.

Selective harmonic elimination technology has been widely used in many medium and high power converters which operating at very low switching frequency, however, it is still a challenging work to solve the switching angles from a group of nonlinear transcendental equations, especially for the multilevel converters. In this paper, an algebraic method is proposed for selective harmonic elimination. First, the order of the SHE equations is reduced by using the symmetric polynomials theory, and then, its Groebner bases is computed. After this two conversions, the solving of multivariable high order SHE equations is converted to solve two univariate equations and a set of univariate linear equations which simplifies the solving procedure dramatically and abandon the requirement on initial values and can find all the solutions. Compared with the existing algebraic method, such as the resultant elimination method, the calculation efficiency is improved. Experimental verification is also shown in this paper.

Visitors utilize the urban space based on their thermal perception and thermal environment. The thermal adaptation engages the user’s behavioural, physiological and psychological aspects. These aspects play critical roles in user’s ability to assess the thermal environments. Previous studies have rarely addressed the effects of identified factors such as gender, age and locality on outdoor thermal comfort, particularly in hot, dry climate. This study investigated the thermal comfort of visitors at two city squares in Iran based on their demographics as well as the role of thermal environment. Assessing the thermal comfort required taking physical measurement and questionnaire survey. In this study, a non-linear model known as the neural network autoregressive with exogenous input (NN-ARX) was employed. Five indices of physiological equivalent temperature (PET), predicted mean vote (PMV), standard effective temperature (SET), thermal sensation votes (TSVs) and mean radiant temperature (T mrt) were trained and tested using the NN-ARX. Then, the results were compared to the artificial neural network (ANN) and the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The findings showed the superiority of the NN-ARX over the ANN and the ANFIS. For the NN-ARX model, the statistical indicators of the root mean square error (RMSE) and the mean absolute error (MAE) were 0.53 and 0.36 for the PET, 1.28 and 0.71 for the PMV, 2.59 and 1.99 for the SET, 0.29 and 0.08 for the TSV and finally 0.19 and 0.04 for the T mrt.

In this paper, we propose an architectural design and software framework for fast development of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics solutions for dynamic production processes. The proposed architecture and framework will support the storage of modular, extensible, and reusable Knowledge Base (KB) of process performance models. The approach requires the development of automatic methods that can translate the high-level models in the reusable KB into low-level specialized models required by a variety of underlying analysis tools, including data manipulation, optimization, statistical learning, estimation, and simulation. We also propose an organization and key structure for the reusable KB, composed of atomic and composite process performance models and domain-specific dashboards. Furthermore, we illustrate the use of the proposed architecture and framework by performing diagnostic tasks on a composite performance model.

Aerospace product design is a complex and difficult process with high technical requirements and a tight development cycle involving a variety of institutes and manufacturers and requiring close collaboration. These features significantly increase the difficulty of configuration management for an aerospace product. Based on the characteristics and management requirements of new-generation aerospace product design, a method for configuration management with baseline is proposed. The application procedure and working mechanisms of baseline in the three typical stages of aerospace product design: stage transition, multi-stage parallel design, and multi-batch parallel design, are discussed in detail. Research and application results can provide a practical solution and concept for the effective and reliable management of complex configurations. © 2014 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

An in vitro stretch-injury model for elongation-controlled neuronal cells: Effect of strains along neurite 15

Diffuse axonal injury (DAI), a major component of traumatic brain injury, is associated with rapid deformation of brain tissue resulting in the stretching of neural axons. Focal axonal beading, which is the morphological hallmarks of DAI pathology, leads to the disconnection of neurons from tissues, resulting in cell death. Our goal is better understanding of neuronal tolerance and help to predicting the pathogenesis of DAI from mechanical loading to the head. In present study, we developed a stretch-injury model that subjected cultured neuronal cells in which the directions of neurite elongation were controlled with microfluidic culture technique to uniaxial stretch and examined the effect of strains along neurite on the cell damage. Neurites from PC 12 cells were extended at 0, 45 and 90 degrees to stretch direction using a fabricated poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) piece having microgrooves in combination with PDMS substrate. Following stretch with a strain of 0.22 and a strain rate of 27 s-1, the morphology of same neurites were observed at 5 min–24 h. As a result, the beading along neurites oriented at 0 degree increased immediately following stretch and the increase was sustained until 24 h, although the beading along neurites oriented at 45 and 90 degrees transiently increased within 1 h following stretch. Many rupture of neurites was observed more in neurites oriented at 0 and 90 degrees than in neurites oriented at 45 degrees, however, the retraction and disappearance of neurites did not differ in any orientation conditions. These results suggest that the difference in strain along neurite induces different types and degrees of neurite damage and not strain of cellcultured substrate but strain loaded to neurite is important to evaluation of neuronal injury. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

In vitro uniaxial stretch model for evaluating the effect of strain along axon on damage to neurons

In the present study, we developed an experimental model that subjected cultured neurons to uniaxial stretch by controlling the direction of axonal elongation with a microfluidic culture technique and examined the effect of strains along the axon on cell damage. Neurites from PC 12 cells that differentiate into neurons with structurally axon-like cylindrical protrusions by nerve growth factor were extended at 0°, 45°, and 90° relative to the tensile direction by using a fabricated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) piece with microgrooves in combination with a PDMS substrate. The morphology of the same neurites was observed before and after stretching with a strain of 0.22 at a strain rate of 27 s-1. As a result, swellings along neurites oriented at 0° increased immediately following stretching and were sustained for 24 h. In contrast, swellings along neurites oriented at 45° and 90° transiently increased within 1 h following stretching. Although more ruptures were observed in neurites oriented at 0° and 90° than in those oriented at 45°, the number of neurites and cells did not differ among orientation conditions. These results suggest that the difference in strain along the axon induces axonal injuries differing in type and degree. They also suggest that the strain on the axon, rather than that on the cell-cultured substrate, is important for evaluating neuronal damage. © 2014 The Japan Society of mechanical Engineers.

Improvement of a Propulsion Equipment with a Supersonic Nozzle for Single Pulse Detonation

A pulse detonation engine (PDE) is one of candidates of aerospace engines for supersonic cruse. In the paper, a supersonic nozzle ejector is designed to increase thrust of single pulse detonation for methane-oxygen and hydrogen-oxygen mixtures. The design method is based on the conventional characteristic method and inlet condition is averaged value of detonations of methane-oxygen and hydrogen-oxygen mixtures. Comparison of thrusts with a design nozzle and no nozzle (straight- type) is conducted to ensure the designed nozzle performance. Furthermore, the flow velocity, temperature and velocity of the designed nozzle are calculated to ensure its appropriateness with the commercial software ANSYS CFX. Consequently, we succeed in increasing the thrusts of the single pulse detonation with the nozzle, which are 1.4 and 2.0 times as large as ones of straight- type for methane-oxygen and hydrogen-oxygen mixtures respectively.

The purpose of this study is development a blood collection assistance system for accident prevention. In the past studies, a vein detection system by using absorbance of the hemoglobin and a needle puncture system by using the peak detection of puncture force and the blood detection by electrode were individually developed. In this study, the each system were integrated to assist the series of blood collection procedure. The needle position was calibrated by using infrared (IR) markers monitored via IR camera. The accuracy of the positioning was within 0.4mm of the error to a blood vessel model of 0.4mm diameter. The blood collection assistance system could perform the series of blood collection procedure such as positioning the needle tip to blood vessel, needle puncturing and stop. © 2014, Japan Soc. of Med.
