This paper presents the development of control technique for an internal combustion engine which controls fuel injections for various gasoline/ethanol mixtures. Yamaha motorcycle, Spark 135i, is tested to find the injection timing for E0, E20, E85 and E100, respectivelty. The experiments are conducted with a speed upto 8000 rpm and working load between 0 - 95 percents of the full span in Engine Dynamometer. A signal from an oxygen sensor installed at the exhaust pipe are sent to the fuel injection system and served as a feedback signal, in order to maintain a complete combustion during a testing period. The result shows that the injection timing for E20, E85 and E100 are longer than the one for E0 8.0 percents, 34.2 percents and 44.8 percents. The approximate injection timing at different ethanol ratio can be determined by using these experiments with the error of -6.8 -7.3 percents. In addition, The results can be used to develop an injection control system for flexible fuel.

The paper presents modern advanced development methods of control systems that minimizes the cost of development of applications which are widely applicable in industrial control of whole range of processes. Unlike the classical way of design and testing control algorithms which are based on expensive RT measurement cards or dSpace, this solution is based on industrial controllers WinPLC/WinPAC. This enables so called rapid-prototyping of control algorithms directly from Matlab-Simulink into target platform. It was used muItiplatform control system REX as a bridge between Matlab and the target platform. The paper describes whole design of control algorithms and control schemes, simulation of prepared schemes, uploading control schemes into target platform of WinPLC. Also possibilities of remote data transfer and data storage are mentioned. The real measurement on hydraulic industrial system proved its limits that were also explained in this paper.

It is more accurate and powerful to use multiple robot agents to estimate the relative position of a single agent rather than by using another agent. However, there are many limitations, including a minimum space for constructing the system and the high initial cost for installing hardware robot agents. The article briefly analyzes the vibration mechanism of the gear fault and kinds of typical signal characteristics of the gears, and introduces successive fuzzy reasoning into the fault diagnosis of the gears. For the selection of characteristic parameters, we used the discrimination index DI to evaluate the identification ability of the characteristic parameters, and select the characteristic parameters of the largest value of DI. According to possibility theory and statistics and probability theory, we replace the original feature parameters into feature parameters of known distributional, and then equate the membership function used in fuzzy reasoning. Finally, the given diagnosis instance indicates that it is effective and feasible to use the method of successive fuzzy reasoning in the fault diagnosis of gears.

Two-photon excitation techniques used in fabricating lines defects were done on a light emitting diode chip. Simultaneous detection of a quenched wide-gap semiconductor crystal has been observed using single- and two-photon photoluminescence. It was found at the quenched area, single-photon excitation gives photoluminescence read-out compared to two-photon excitation which no photoluminescence detected at the bandgap wavelength. This is due to the excitation states which the transition of electron for two-photon excitation to occur have been demolished by the annealing of the sample which involved two-photon quenching process. The dependency of excitation power with respective photoluminescence is elaborated to confirmed the single- and two-photon excitation photoluminescence methods.

In orthodontics, retraction springs made of metallic wires are often used to move a tooth with respect to another by the virtue of the spring back effect. Specially selected form of spring may result in accurate force and moment required to move the tooth towards direction that suits a particular patient. In current practice, the geometry remains to be selected manually by orthodontists and no substantial automation of such process has been proposed to date. In this paper, we experiment with the automated geometry selection of the orthodontic retraction spring using constrained evolutionary optimization. Particularly, a Classifier-assisted Constrained Memetic Algorithm (CCMA) is designed for the purpose. The main feature of CCMA lies in the ability to identify appropriate spring structures that should undergo further refinement using a classifier system to perform the inference. Comparison to the baseline canonical Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Memetic Algorithm (MA) further highlights the efficacy of the proposed approach. In addition, to also assert the robustness of the CCMA for general complex design, further studies on commonly used constrained benchmark problems and existing constrained evolutionary optimization methods are also reported in the paper.
