He received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1966. He received a Masters of Business Administration from the American University in 1977. His experience to date includes: Mathematics teacher at Prince Georges Community College for 7 years 10 years as Branch Head for Carrier and Amphibious Arrangements Project Engineer for Underway Replenishment Equipment responsible for the concept and development of the One Man Control Station. Louis R. Grieco:is a Supervisory Mechanical Engineer in the Habitability Branch of the Hull and Deck Machinery Department at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division Philadelphia where he has been employed since 1971. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from Drexel University in 1979. His experience to date includes trade design and combat systems assignments at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard from 1960 to 1971 In Service Engineering Section and Branch Head for cargo/ weapons elevators conveyors torpedo handling systems habitability equipment and underway replenishment equipment and Life Cycle Manager for habitability systems. He also serves as a member of the Industrial Advisory Board at Temple University Philadelphia PA.

作者: Jacobs, KS McComas, JP Kenneth J. Jacobs:is director of the Naval Sea Systems Command's Surface Ship Maintenance Division (Sea 915). Originally trained as a data systems technician he attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia and graduated with a B.S degree in mechanical engineering in 1975. Over the course of the last twenty-one years Mr. Jacobs has served in NavSea as a project engineer for boats and service craft as the type desk for AFS AOR AO and AOG ship types and as manager of the Amphibious and Auxiliary Ship Maintenance Strategy Program where he was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Phased Maintenance Program. He has authored several papers on the subject of ship maintenance and is a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society ASNE and the Association of Scientists and Engineers. Jon P. McComas:is a 1967 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a 1974 graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned an M.S. degree in mechanical engineering. He also completed the Executive Management Program at North-western University in 1988. During his twenty-eight year naval career he served in destroyers and was a qualified surface warfare officer. He was designated an engineering duty officer in 1977 and subsequently held a number of positions primarily in the area of fleet maintenance and modernization including ship superintendent and type desk officer at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard assistant maintenance officer on the staff of ComNav-SurfGru WestPac in Subic Bay Phillippines assistant program manager for steam-powered surface combatants (PMS 313) and for gas turbine-powered surface combatants (PMS 314) at Navsea and director Maintenance Policy Branch (OP 433) on the CNO staff. Developing a prototype concurrent design tool for composite topside structures

He completed his bachelor of science degree in aeropace and ocean engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1985 and his master of science degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland in 1990. Mr. Dirlik recently completed a master of science program in applied physics at The Johns Hopins University and currently works in the Radar Cross Section and Target Physics Branch of the Signatures Directorate at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Corderoke Division. He has worked on Navy low observable programs since 1990. Stephen Hambric:is a research associate at the Applied Research Laboratory at The Pennsylvania State University. He received his B. S. and M.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and his D. Sc. in mechnical engineering from the George Washington University. He has worked on several computer aided multidiscikplinary design and optimization projects over the years including an automated propeller design system and a structural acoustic optimization capability. Dr. Shpour Azarm:is currently working as an associate professor with the Design and Manufacturing Group of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of maryland at College Park. Dr Azarm's expertise is in the areas of optimization-based designed and concurrent design and optimization of multidisciplinary systems. He was a consultant at Black & Decker Corporation (summer 1996) and worked as a Navy senior summer faculty fellow (summer 1995) and a NASA summer faculty fellow (summer 1994). He was a visiting scientist at NASA Langley Research Center for Multidisciplinary Analysis and Applied Structural Optimzatiom at the University of Siegen in Germany (spring 1992) and the Design Institute of the Technical University of Denmark (summer 1990). He is a graduate of the Naval Academy who served as a surface warfare officer. After completion of his graduate education at MIT he became an Engineering Duty Officer and served at Boston Naval Shipyard in several capacities. He was the Repair Facilities Advisor to the Vietnamese Navy the Project Officer for construction of nuclear powered guided missile cruisers (CGNs) at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Newport News Virginia and served on the staff of the Commander Naval Surface Forces U.S. Atlantic Fleet and later at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding in Portsmouth Virginia in maintenance and overhaul management positions. He was Officer in Charge of the Annapolis Laboratory of the David Taylor Research Center and Commanding Officer of the Engineering Duty Officer School. He retired from active duty in October 1991 after serving in the Naval Sea Systems Command as the Director of the Ship Design Group and of the Advanced Concepts and Technology Group. Lt. Jeffrey S. Riedel USN:is an Engineering Duty Officer currently assigned to the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Bath Maine. He obtained his B.S. degree in Marine Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy in 1986 and his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering plus a Mechanical Engineer's degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1993. Lt. Riedel's naval career has included duty aboaqrd USS Wainwright (CG 28) as auxiliaries officer damage control assistant and main machinery officer. Currently he serves as the assistant production officer at SUPSHIP Bath in charge of DDG 51 class construction and delivery.

Modeling and simulation in the sealift program

His experience in ship design includes dynamic analysis of ship's deck systems intact and damaged stability calculations trim and stability support during ship designs and structural design. For the last two years he has led a team of engineers in the dynamic analysis of the sideport ramp system employed on the Navy's new sealift ships. He graduated in 1979 with a B.S. degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of Michigan. Keith Back is a senior engineer with Advanced Marine Enterprises in Arlington Virginia. He is currently the section chief for the Advanced Visualization Group. He has more than ten years experience developing and using CAD models in the ship design environment. For the past two years he has led the development of visualization techniques and models for use in simulations for current ship design programs. He graduated in 1985 with a B.S. degree in aerospace and ocean engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. USA Lt. Col. Joe McVeigh USA is currently deputy program manager (Army) for PMS 385 the Strategic Sealift Office at NavSea. As the senior U.S. Army officer on staff he is responsible for interfacing with the program's primary customer in addition to his assignment as T&E director. Lt. Col. McVeigh graduated with a B.Sc. from the United States Military Academy in 1978 after which he received his 2nd lieutenant's commission in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps. In 1991 he received M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering and naval architecture and marine engineering from MIT. Lt. Col. McVeigh's previous assignments have included: platoon leader/XO 870th Terminal Transfer Company program support officer/XO/contract administrator DLA operations staff officer/Exercise Branch chief. In 1991 he received a Kanto District Invention Award (from the Invention Society) and in 1993 a Commendation for Research Accomplishment from the Director of Science and Technology Agency. In 1988 he graduated from the Department of Electronic Engineering Hitachi Keihin Technical School.
