In order to solve the problem of hopping mechanism design of robot, we proposed a method of optimization of transmission mechanism based on parametric model. In this paper, the optimization of energy transfer efficiency of robot jump mechanism is completed by parametric model method through the mechanism simplification, parametric modeling and parameter optimization. The results show that the method can greatly optimize the energy transfer efficiency and reduce the driving torque required by 74.6%. It provides a feasible optimization method for the design of the robot hopping structure. © 2021 IEEE.

The Influence of Hydrogen on the Recrystallization Texture of a Face Centered Cubic Metal

The evolution of an alloy’s microstructure in a hydrogen atmosphere at high temperatures is one of the important factors contributing to the degradation in the alloy’s strength. The present study aimed to clarify the influence of hydrogen on the recrystallization texture of a face centered cubic (FCC) metal. As a model of FCC metal, commercially pure nickel (Ni) was cold-rolled and then annealed separately in vacuum and hydrogen atmospheres. Subsequently, the recrystallization textures were analyzed using EBSD and XRD. Hydrogen promoted the recrystallization of -oriented deformed grains while hindering the recrystallization of -oriented deformed grains. It increased the content of {011} texture, promoted the decrease of R-Cube texture content, hindered the increase of Cube texture content， and hindered the reduction in contents of Brass, Copper, Goss, and S textures. In addition, it had an insignificant effect on {011} texture contents. Hydrogen demonstrated an anisotropic effect on the dislocation movement and density of grains with different orientations. Specifically, it impeded the dislocation movement within -oriented deformed grains while facilitating the dislocation movement within -oriented deformed grains. As a result, hydrogen induced an increase in dislocation density in -oriented grains and a decrease in dislocation density in -oriented grains. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As an advanced technology that integrates virtuality and reality, digital twin technology has shown a wide range of application prospects in various fields. This paper aims to explore the potential application of digital twin technology in the teaching of engineering drawing courses, to improve students' theoretical knowledge and practical ability. By combining digital twin technology with traditional engineering drawing teaching, students can carry out practical operations and simulations in a virtual environment to better understand and apply drawing concepts and principles. Besides, taking the assembly drawing of thread connection as an actual teaching case, the specific application of digital twin technology in theoretical and experimental teaching is explained, respectively. The results show that digital twin technology is conducive to improving students' interest in engineering drawing courses and training students' spatial imagination ability, which is of great significance to reforming drawing courses. © 2023 IEEE.

A Novel Frequency Estimation Strategy and Filter Based on the Gearbox Response Mechanism Model

In the gearbox response signal, numerous sideband components generated by different fault characteristic frequencies are interleaved. Coupled with the noise interference, this makes health monitoring based on spectral analysis highly challenging. Traditional filtering methods, such as low-pass, high-pass and band-pass filters, and mode decomposition methods, exhibit limitations in filtering out interference signals over the entire frequency spectrum. Moreover, the absence of speed information complicates the determination of appropriate passbands. Most critically, noise within the passband is entirely retained. To address these issues, this paper proposes a methodology for estimating characteristic frequencies and filtering interference signals based on a novel response mechanism model (RMM) of gearbox. The proposed RMM model takes into account the structural attributes and vibration response mechanism of the gearbox, describing the modulation phenomena of fault characteristic frequencies on the meshing frequency and its harmonics. The proposed model-based frequency estimation (MFE) strategy accurately computes characteristic frequencies even in the absence of speed information. Additionally, the proposed model-based filter (MF) can perform accurate filtering over the entire frequency spectrum or within specified gear train vibration responses. Numerical simulations and experimental data validate the viability and effectiveness of the proposed methods. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Investigation of the Conjugate Heat Transfer and Flow Field for a Flat Plate with Combined Film and Impingement Cooling

Film cooling combined with internal impingement cooling is one of the most effective technologies to protect the gas turbine vanes and blades from the hot gas. In this study, conjugate heat transfer CFD study was undertaken for a flat plate with combined film cooling and impingement cooling. An experiment on conjugate heat transfer of a flat plate with combined film and impingement cooling was performed to validate the code. Then the effects of several parameters including Biot number, blowing ratio, film hole shape and impingement hole diameter on the overall cooling effectiveness were numerically studied. The results show that for a specific combined cooling scheme and a given blowing ratio, the coolant potential can be reasonably allocated to the internal and the external cooling to achieve the overall cooling effectiveness. As the blowing ratio increases, the overall cooling effectiveness trends to reach a maximum value. For different film hole geometrical, the maximum values of the overall cooling effectiveness at high blowing ratio approximate to the same value. At a given mass flow rate of coolant, the increase of the impingement hole diameter leads to the reduction of the overall cooling effectiveness.

In the context of engineering education, to improve the practical engineering skills of engineering students, the teaching ideas and implementation methods of the curriculum are designed based on Outcome-based Education. A blended teaching approach was used to design the implementation process to achieve the curriculum objectives. In this paper, we explain the process of blended teaching from the two aspects of basic knowledge and competency training. Active learning of basic knowledge is implemented based on a three-step blended teaching model before, after, and during classes. It adopts the project-driven learning approach of the flipped classroom model and cultivates students' ability to solve complex engineering problems through collaborative group and intra-group mutual assessment. Based on the original objective assessment of the curriculum and under the current teaching model, we design a diversified evaluation approach to comprehensively assess the effectiveness of student competence achievement. Practice has shown that project-based inquiry-based teaching methods based on the flipped classroom model can promote learning outcomes for students and increase their interest in learning. It avoids the blind and aimless theoretical learning process of the student and improves the practical ability of the student. The methods and means of instruction of teachers have been further extended, and the ability of students to learn independently has been improved.

Engineering drawing is a compulsory technical foundation course for mechanical majors. Its main task is to cultivate students' ability to draw and read engineering drawings. The content of this course is complicated and abstract and not easy to understand, which makes it difficult for students to learn. Mind mapping is a visual thinking tool to systematize and organize abstract and complicated knowledge. Taking the application of mind mapping to various teaching processes of engineering drawing course, such as the construction of framework, the sorting out of fragmented knowledge, the solution of drawing geometry and sectional view, and the group project for important and difficult content as examples, we illustrate the importance of mind map in cultivating students' knowledge generalization ability, independent learning ability, enhancing students' logical thinking, creative thinking, divergent thinking, and stimulating students' interest in learning.

A cloud platform for engineering drawing course teaching was proposed based on cloud station. The cloud station can solve the common problems existed in engineering drawing course, such as the difficulty of teaching, the heavy work of tutorship, the poor teaching effect, the weak spatial imagination of students, as well as the current difficulty to develop the virtual model resource base and the interaction is not strong. The platform uses Solidworks software to build 3D model library, and combines with CADbro's powerful cloud service and 3D file viewing function to realize the interaction and sharing with cloud model by using web browser. At the same time, we choose bilibili, a popular cultural site for teenagers, to release the explanation videos of exercises, and make use of the convenient way to build the cloud station to integrate, release and manage the resources. The platform realizes self-study and self-test at anytime and anywhere on both PC and mobile devices, and fast jumps the corresponding explanation video and cloud virtual model according to the demand. The virtual model in the cloud can be rotated, cut, distance measured, exploded, parts hidden, moved, 2D viewed and so on by touch. The platform is innovative, extensible, interesting and practical, which can greatly enhance the students' enthusiasm for independent learning, and it can be used reference to the development of engineering drawing teaching resources.

A Study on Citation Impact with Age Diversity between Disciplines

With the ongoing evolution of scientific research collaboration in depth and breadth, the age distribution among paper collaborators is becoming increasingly varied. Consequently, the question of whether this age distribution affects the quality of collaborative papers has emerged as a significant topic in recent research. In this study, we have compiled and established a comprehensive scientific database, comprising more than 3.5 million papers. These papers, featuring multiple attribute information, originate from over 180 countries. We define the age diversity of a paper based on the academic ages of its co-authors and examine the relationship between age diversity and citation impact using regression analyses. Our findings reveal a clear upward trend in the age diversity of authors over time. The results indicate that the average age diversity of highly cited papers is consistently higher than that of general papers across the entire timeline, spanning four disciplines: economics, engineering, computer science, and physics. Moreover, we demonstrate a significantly positive correlation between age diversity and citation impact. In the aforementioned four disciplines, an increase in the collaborators’ age diversity is associated with a corresponding rise in the paper’s citation impact. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of age-related dynamics in scientific collaboration. It also offers insights into the age distribution of teams, providing practical suggestions for researchers engaged in collaborative endeavors. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In recent years, with the continuous development of China's hydropower projects, Pelton turbines are gradually being valued, and the focus of development has shifted from plain areas to plateau areas. Environmental impacts such as high altitude, water temperature, and high sediment content in the plateau area have caused serious interference to equipment that originally worked in a stable environment, for example, the failure of the cooperation between the parts of the turbine and the mutual seizure, the increased wear of the nozzle needle, the decrease of the flow rate and the water outlet speed of the nozzle, and the decrease of the air pressure in the plateau environment lead to the change of the flow state of the nozzle. In view of the above problems, this paper puts forward the design scheme of impulse turbine test-bed, using the method of changing specific speed to determine the basic parameters of impulse turbine unit, so as to eliminate the influence of plateau environment on the normal operation of turbine, obtain the efficiency condition of model experiment under low ambient pressure, and improve the operation efficiency and reliability of turbine unit. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing.
