This paper presents an active clamped dual current-fed (ACDCF) bidirectional dc-dc converter for the wide voltage range EV charging/discharging operation. This current-fed configuration supports minimizing the input/output current ripples of the converter. This configuration can be implemented as a dc-to-dc interface between different energy sources and storage technologies like supercapacitors, fuel cells, Li-ion batteries, photovoltaic panels, etc. In addition, the current-fed switching cell has been augmented with the active clamp circuits to suppress the turn-off voltage spikes. It helps in reducing the safe operation voltage limit, which eventually results in a selection of relatively low voltage switches with low on-state resistance. Furthermore, the converter is designed to operate in different modes using topology morphing control (TMC). This helps to extend the converter's operating and soft switching ranges. The component selection and converter design are briefly expressed, along with the theoretical assessment. Finally, the features of the proposed converter topology have been verified through simulations. © 2024 IEEE.

Engine simulation is an analytical technique for simulating and analyzing the behaviors of internal combustion engines. The main objectives are power gain and reduction of thermal expel in the engine. The main subjects that are considered here are fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and combustion, to predict engine performance. The simulation results provide information on Engine power output in Kilo Watt, Efficiency in percentage allowing engineers to optimize engine design and to increase the performance that changes the way of manufacturing. Engine simulation is a safe and reliable approach to evaluating engine performance. The simulation is done, and the results are calculated for engines namely, Ford Cortina Engine 1962 and Toyota G16E Engine. The software used was Dat4T, EngMod4T, and Post4T. The performance graphs and Thermal graphs before modifications for both engines were observed and the results after modifications were improved by an average of 15%. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a comprehensive study on the fault simulation and analysis of the high-voltage circuit breaker's spring charging mechanism (HVCB-CM) using a universal motor (UM) model. A MATLAB/Simulink model of the spring charging mechanism was developed, allowing for simulations in both healthy and faulty states of UM. The simulations focused on the effects of field winding and armature open circuit faults, providing insights into their impact on the system's performance. The results offer valuable information for training operators and developing AI-based diagnostic algorithms to detect faults in real-time. Overall, this study contributes to the advancement of fault simulation techniques for HVCBs, aiming to enhance system reliability and maintenance practices in power transmission and distribution networks. © 2024 IEEE.

Digital twins (DTs) play crucial roles in various applications, with their significance extending to critical domains like electric vehicles (EVs). Essentially, a DT is a virtual representation or digital counterpart of a physical object, system, or process, crafted through sensor technology, data collection, modeling, and simulation. Modeling a real system with uncertain parameters is a challenging task. This paper presents a comprehensive methodology for reverse engineering the drive system of an EV Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with an uncertain control strategy parameter. The motor was modeled based on d-q mathematical representation. Extensive tests on the EV motor drive under diverse conditions and scenarios were conducted, with performance data acquired using a precision data acquisition system (DAS). The collected data were preprocessed and refined for the modeling process. In response to feedback on input mechanisms, a data-driven model employing a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network was developed to emulate the drive system's behavior. The LSTM-based drive system model underwent rigorous training with the actual data collected from the physical system. The overall accuracy of the LSTM model in replicating the motor drive system was 96.7%, affirming its high performance and reliability in mimicking the intricate drive system. The LSTM model was then combined with the motor simulation model, creating a hybrid-driven model. The hybrid model's success in closely aligning with the actual motor drive outputs underscores its comprehensive ability to effectively reflect both the nuanced dynamics and the operational intricacies of the EV propulsion system. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to explore the formation principle of microscopic morphology of the lower surface of USRP, USRP theoretical analysis and processing experiments are carried out. Firstly, the spatial motion trajectory of tool head by USRP is established to reveal formation principle of surface morphology. Additionally, this experiment employs a single-factor experimental design method. The influence law of process parameters and surface roughness is obtained. The results show that the workpiece speed affects the circumferential machining density of the part, and the feed speed affects the axial density of the part. Surface roughness initially decreases and subsequently increases with rising amplitudes and static pressure. It gradually rises with improvement of feed rate and rotational speed. This provides a new way to adjust the surface topography of USRP in the future. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Food is grown, produced, prepared, packaged, stored, distributed, and consumed. The food industries have lagged behind other industrial sectors in integrating robots;the cost of labour can account for up to half of the overall cost of the product. Robots are reprogrammable, multifunctional manipulators designed to manipulate particles. Robots work with the consideration of hygiene and greater productivity, and food safety and hygiene are becoming an increasing concern and customer demand. In the food sector, AI and machine learning are employed for robots and automation. Robots utilize sensors to detect touch, smell, measure, and so on. A detailed analysis of automated systems and robotics in the food industry is given in this study. The advantages are that robots win out in effectiveness and accuracy over people and cannot be distracted from the task. Never get tired like humans, and never get bored by repetition. The drawbacks include job losses and the loss of people's key skills. The significance of automation systems in the food processing sector was briefly discussed in this study. © 2023 IEEE.

A novel method by microwave cutting ceramics based on thermal crack and trajectory control

Herein, the microwave thermal crack method is innovatively employed in cutting Al2O3 ceramics. Different from the conventional cutting technology, the thermal controlled fracture method is progressive and environmentally friendly, which adopts tensile stress to peel off the brittle material into two parts. The heat source induces tensile stress as thermal stress. Additionally, based on the Fourier heat transfer equation and thermo-elasticity, the physical model of microwave thermal crack cutting Al2O3 ceramics is established and calculated. The thickness of the graphite coating, the width of the graphite coating, and the prefabricated crack in the process of microwave thermal crack cutting Al2O3 were studied. The effect of graphite coating width on crack trajectory was also investigated by simulation combined with the test. From the result, it can be seen that the narrower the width of graphite coating, the weaker the processing ability and the better the trajectory control ability. The microscope is adopted to evaluate the surface and cross-section morphologies detailly. This study elaborates briefly on the interaction mechanism of microwave thermal crack cutting Al2O3 ceramic surface and provides practical guidance for aerospace industries applications. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature.

This article deals with the influence of the design of the measuring contact of electrochemical cells on the results measured by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Since battery cells can reach internal series resistance values in the sub milliohm range, impedance measurement becomes a problem. In general, impedance measurement in ranges smaller than 1 mΩ is problematic and makes it difficult to make contacts. Among other things, the EIS method uses injecting of excitation current. Therefore, the measuring contacts' design must have the smallest possible parasitic properties. © 2024 IEEE.

Despite being a common occurrence, road accidents are still the worst thing that can happen to anyone using the roads. The sad part is that we, as road users, don't learn from our mistakes and continue to engage in the same risky behaviour that leads to accidents. In most cases, the accidents are caused by human error, either through negligence or wellful disregard for safety. Some of the more common examples of this behaviour include driving under the influence, distracted driving, running red lights, evading safety equipment like seat belts and helmets, driving outside of one's lane, and improper overtaking. If we could all be more mindful of our actions on the road, maybe we could start to reduce the number of accidents that happen every day. © 2023 IEEE.
