Kinematic simulations and design of a steering upright for a single seater electric car

This work discusses a systematic approach for design and analysis of a steering upright based on suspension hardpoint analysis. The steps followed would ensure anticipated performance of a vehicle in terms of ride comfort and handling. The suspension hardpoints were determined using LOTUSTM Shark suspension analysis software based on kinematic simulations. The geometric model of the upright was then created in accordance with the hardpoints obtained. Static structural analysis was performed on the preliminary upright design and design modifications were done to reduce the weight. Further, a suitable material was selected for the upright based on a comparison of values of stress, deformation, safety factor and mass for different upright materials. In addition, fatigue analysis was performed to compute the life of the upright. The manufactured uprights were assembled with other suspension assembly components and were tested under different on road conditions to observe for any failure. Transformers play a crucial role in power systems, ensuring efficient energy transmission and distribution. This research focuses on a 22/0.4 kV transformer decommissioned after over 20 years of service. The study involves draining the transformer oil completely and refilling it with oil characterized by known moisture content and breakdown voltage levels until reaching normal operating conditions. The objective is to study the effects of increased moisture content on the dielectric response within the actual structure of the transformer. Diagnostic measurement techniques, including Frequency Domain Spectroscopy (FDS) and Polarization Depolarization Current (PDC), are utilized to evaluate the insulation condition of the transformer. FDS provides information on the dielectric response over a wide frequency range, while PDC assesses the polarization and depolarization behavior of the insulation material. These techniques offer valuable information on the ageing and moisture content of the insulation. The experimental results will be presented and discussed in this paper. © 2024 IEEE.

This research effort is to optimize the conditions to minimize carbon monoxide (CO) gas emissions utilizing activated carbon derived from rice husks, an abundant agricultural waste. In the automobile industry, addressing vehicular emissions is crucial due to environmental ramifications and stringent regulatory mandates. This study presents an innovative and potentially cost-effective solution to capture CO emissions, mainly from motorcycles. The eco-friendly nature of using rice husks and the detailed findings on optimal conditions (20 m/s gas flow rate, 0.47 M citric acid concentration, and 30 g mass of activated carbon) make this research invaluable. These conditions achieved a commendable CO adsorption rate of 54.96 ppm over 1250 s. Essentially, the insights from this research could spearhead the development of sustainable automobile exhaust systems. By integrating activated carbon into these systems, there's potential to capture CO and possibly other detrimental gases, reducing the environmental impact of vehicles. This approach might herald a new era in environmentally conscious automotive technologies. © 2024 SAE International.

By putting forward Machine learning technique method to forecast the driving range and Battery State of Charge (SOC) ) of electric cars (EVs) in rural settings, this work seeks to fill the gap in the literature. The suggested method takes into account the trio main groups of elements that affect Vehicle SOC and EV range specifications, driver conduct and the atmosphere of exploitation. This is in contrast to the literature, which found a deficiency of a complete model that takes into account all significant aspects influencing EV range prediction. An OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) gadget that is linked to the driver's car supplied the driving cycle (RDC) data from the actual world that was used in this investigation The outcome of our investigation display Considering The suggested educational by machine method could forecast the state of charge (SOC) of lithium-ion batteries with a 95% accuracy rate on average. Despite the notable variations in RDC information as well as the presence of measurement sound, this loud level of precision was achieved. Using a mean inaccuracy of under 2 percent, the recommended learning by machine method was furthermore successful in properly predicting using the expected SOC values, calculate EVs' residual driving range (RDR). © 2025 IEEE.

In this paper the dielectric response in time domain which is polarization and depolarization current (PDC) measurement is applied to assess the global condition of OIP bushings. The bushings in this paper are five 138 kV OIP bushings and three 550 kV OIP bushings which are out of service already. From the PDC results, capacitance and current trends of both voltage levels were investigated individually. PDC results in this paper can be useful data for further analysis and diagnostic. © 2024 IEEE.

The steel industry is one of the business sectors in developing countries that is expanding at a rapid rate because of its essential role in building the physical infrastructure of a country. Therefore, managing the supply chain risks of the steel industry is crucial for maintaining disruption free production. Machine breakdown and malfunction in a production line significant ones that take place in the steel industry's supply chain which could negatively impact the supplier-customer relationship. Rolling mill machines are one of the most crucial and often used machines in the steel manufacturing process. In this study, a framework has been developed to predict the machine breakdown of rolling mill machines using several advanced machine learning algorithms such as Catboost, XGboost, and LightGBM. To investigate the effectiveness of proposed approach the 'Binary Classification of Machine Failures' dataset has been used. The suggested work's effectiveness has been assessed thoroughly using proper evaluation matrices. The results indicate that CatBoost and LightGBM algorithms has achieved the best performance among all other algorithms, gaining accuracy of 99% and 97%, respectively. The proposed machine learning framework offers significant potential to enhance supply chain management in the steel industry by continuously updating machine breakdown mitigation strategies. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents an innovative Real-time Monitoring System for precise workout posture correction, leveraging MediaPipe and OpenCV technologies. Designed to enhance urban wellness, the system accurately tracks joint angles through sophisticated algorithms, making it ideal for applications ranging from general fitness to rehabilitation. Accurate joint angle calculations facilitate the evaluation of users' range of motion, muscle strength, and balance, significantly contributing to injury prevention and improved exercise techniques. The objectives encompass system construction, analysis of effectiveness, and validation in accordance with Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. By employing BlazePose Model for instantaneous pose estimation, the system precisely computes the angles of the joints, guaranteeing accurate workout posture during dynamic actions such as squats and push-ups. The results indicate that the system is highly successful in promptly and accurately evaluating angles, hence fulfilling the requirement for monitoring workout posture in real-time. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2024.

This study utilizes pose estimation algorithms to present a novel objective assessment of navigation trajectories in the walking Corsi test, known as a visuospatial working memory assessment task. Spatial navigation is critical in cognitive assessments, especially for detecting impairments in neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease. By leveraging the OpenPose model, this approach tracks specific body keypoints, primarily focusing on the left ankle, to monitor and evaluate participant movement during the walking Corsi test. A Kalman filter was applied to enhance the accuracy of keypoint tracking, refining the model's output by reducing noise and compensating for motion inaccuracies. Data were collected from 35 healthy participants, and the resulting navigation trajectories were subject to perspective correction, keypoint extraction, and noise reduction. The processed trajectories were analyzed using root mean square error, mean absolute error, and R2 metrics to assess model performance at various stages of data processing. These metrics revealed significant improvements in accuracy after implementing pre-processing techniques and the Kalman filter tracker algorithm, with the model achieving a highly accurate R2 value of 0.995. The findings demonstrate the effectiveness of biomechatronic systems in delivering precise spatial navigation and memory assessments. This work holds promise for clinical diagnostics and research applications, providing an innovative, objective tool for assessing cognitive functions, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases. © 2024 IEEE.

Electrolysis is the process used to produce hydrogen using external electrical energy. Because of less initial and operating cost, less maintenance required, and simple construction, hydrogen production via water electrolysis has gained more attention among users globally. In this current attempt, a novel solar-powered hydrogen generation system was established and tested in different operating circumstances. Throughout the study, nanofluids with concentrations of 0.05%, 0.1%, and 0.2% were utilized, and their effect on electrical performance and hydrogen production rate was examined. Compared to conventional solar panels, the usage of nanofluids resulted in a significant improvement in electrical power productivity and hydrogen output rate. The highest electrical efficiency is with a 0.2% volume fraction of CuO/water nanofluids at 13.5% at Noon. During the same period, the lowest and highest hydrogen yield rates are found for the conventional PV module and 0.2% volume fraction CuO/water nanofluids-based system as 7.9 ml/min and 18.2 ml/min, respectively. © 2023 The Authors

In this paper, a microstrip millimeter-wave (MMW) array antenna with a defected ground structure (DGS) has been presented for the applications of fifth generation (5G) wireless networks. This novel antenna, which has small dimensions with higher gain, can be used for licensed 5G applications in many countries, like the United States of America, Canada, Australia, Japan, India, and China. It also covers a band that is planned for licensed use in some countries, like Colombia and Mexico. The proposed model has a single element design, and for gain and efficiency enhancement, a two-element array has been designed. Both single and two element models resonate at a frequency of 39.96 GHz. Using a commercial electromagnetic simulator (CST-Studio), the model was designed and optimized with the goal of achieving a return loss rate of less than −10 dB. The proposed antenna is built on a compact Rogers substrate (RT-5880) with dimensions of 6 mm × 6 mm for the substrate of the single element and 9 mm × 13 mm for the two-element array. The substrate has a thickness of 0.508 mm, a dielectric constant Εr of 2.2, and a loss tangent tan δ value of 0.0009. This suggested design is small, low profile, and simple to guarantee the dependability, mobility, and high efficiency needed to be used with a variety of 5G wireless applications. The high gain of 11.6 dBi for the two-element array model of the proposed antenna is one of its distinctive features. The suggested single element model has an impedance bandwidth of 2.3 GHz, and 2.1 for the two-element array model, satisfying efficiency of approximately 73.5% for the single element and 85% for the two-element array model, respectively. The proposed structure, compared to other designs found in the literature, has smaller size while maintaining other parameter values of comparable orders. © 2023, Electromagnetics Academy.
