Friction occurs in our daily lives, and statistics have shown that it consumes approximately 1/3 of the primary energy. In addition, mechanical interface friction significantly impacts the efficiency, noise, accuracy, corrosion, reliability, and operational lifespans of equipment. Several studies have revealed various methods for reducing the coefficient of friction (COF) to the superlubricity state(COF <0.01) through efficient lubrication technology.

Age is a major risk for heart failure, which is associated with the reduction in ventricular compliance, increase in arterial stiffening, and increase in systemic vascular resistance. In this study, a lumped-parameter model is used to investigate the effect of aging on the possibility of heart failure occurrence. Model parameters including the systemic and pulmonary arterial compliance and resistance, and the left ventricular elastance are calculated for different ages using a ratio-based method. These parameters are then used in the lumped-parameter model. Our findings show that as age increases, there is a leftward and a rightward shift in the left ventricle and right ventricle pressure-volume loops, respectively. For the left ventricle, there is a decrease in stroke volume and an increase in ventricular pressure as the age increases. This correlates with the occurrence of arterial hypertension in the older population. Meanwhile, the right ventricular pressure is maintained as the population gets older, despite the increase in the stroke volume. This is possibly due to the shift in intraventricular septum that causes an enlargement of the right ventricle as the age increases. This study provides understanding on the effect of age on the occurrence of heart *** study demonstrates the relationship of aging with cardiac hemodynamics, which provides the potential risk of heart failure occurrence. Although there are many risk factors that can cause heart failure, aging has been strongly associated with its occurrence. Understanding how age affects heart failure can help to differentiate them from other effects such as dietary, gender, and early cardiovascular diseases including arrhythmia and myocardial infarction.

At high pulse-width modulation (PWM) carrier frequencies up to 200 kHz using silicon carbide (SiC) devices, the individual and mutual impacts of the sample time and dead-time on the SiC inverter loss in a motor drive system may become significantly. Thus, these issues under load condition are experimentally investigated and analyzed in the present study, where the dead-time is from 250 to 1000 ns and the control sample time is from 100 to 1000 μs. Furthermore, the measured results with the SiC metal–oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) inverter are briefly compared to that with the silicon (Si) insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) inverter for reference. Moreover, the total harmonics distortion (THD) of the measured voltage and current of the considered interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is provided to explain the results. Finally, insights with theoretical analysis are shown as complementary explanations of the experimental findings. The outcome of this research can be treated as a reference in choosing the suitable value of the control sample time for IPMSM drive systems using SiC-MOSFET inverters.

Sensing has become a pivotal element in the development of autonomous systems with the advancement of the technology. These systems operate on a sense-think-act cycle to execute tasks, necessitating the integration of multiple sensors. The challenge of synthesizing meaningful information from diverse data sources escalates with the complexity of the data. This study tackles the issue of sensor data complexity by investigating the potential of Fuzzy Signatures, which are promising in handling complex data due to their hierarchical structures. The main goal is to present a concept for sensor fusion based on Fuzzy Signatures, which may facilitate their use in autonomous system tasks. To demonstrate this concept, accelerometer and gyroscope data are utilized, with results compared to those from a Complementary Filter providing insight into the sensor fusion capabilities of Fuzzy Signatures. The study also underscores the importance of aggregation operators in Fuzzy Signatures, focusing on the Max and WRAO (weighted relevance aggregation operator) aggregation operators. The potential to employ various aggregation operators or to develop new ones for specific applications is highlighted. The findings indicate that Fuzzy Signatures could be an effective solution for sensor fusion challenges, offering prospects for enhancement and broader application in autonomous systems.

Aiming at the problem that the inertial component of particles could not guide the particle to the right direction when the fitness became poor, a multi-objective particle swarm algorithm learning factor improvement method based on the fitness change was proposed. The large learning factor improved the multi-objective particle swarm algorithm. In the simulation experiment, the improved algorithm PSO-AIC1C2 and the PSO-S, PSO-AIC1 and PSO-AIC2 with c 1 and c 2 obtained by splitting this algorithm were fixed with c 1 and c 2 changed separately, and then compared with other PSO improvements. The algorithms MOPSO, SMPSO, and dMOPSO are compared. Experiments showed that increasing c 1 could improve the performance of the algorithm, and increasing c 2 would cause the convergence of the algorithm to deteriorate. In most test functions, PSO-AIC1C2 had obvious advantages in convergence and distribution indicators. The improved method proposed had certain guiding significance for the study of learning factors of particle swarm optimization in the future.
