In this paper, we demonstrate an ultra-sensitive photon sensor based on a membrane mechanical resonator for the first time, which consists of free-standing one-particle-thick super-lattice sheet of self-assembled nano-particles. Because of plasmon resonance, the membrane resonator has very strong light-matter interaction, which converts photos to heat at very high efficiency. Also, the organic-inorganic hybrid nature of the membrane owns an extremely photon-sensitive stiffness. Experimental results indicate that only under a low optical radiation power of 15 mW/cm~2, the resonator shows an obvious frequency shift of 40% (from 55.2 to 34.1 kHz), which is around two or three orders of magnitude higher than that for conventional mechanical resonators.

An adaptive non-homogeneous higher order sliding mode control(HOSMC) method for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems is proposed in this paper. The HOSMC problem can be viewed as the finite time stabilization of a higher order inputoutput dynamic system with bounded uncertainties. Given a large initial tracking error, the proposed HOSMC algorithm provide fast convergence rate by using non-homogeneous finite time stabilization. In addition, the adaptive control method is employed to identify bounded uncertainties for eliminating the requirement of bounds needed in the conventional design. To solve the overestimation problem, equivalent control technique is used in this paper, and then the switching gain can be designed as a small constant. Numerical simulation on an omnidirectional mobile vehicle demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed HOSMC algorithm.

An autonomous-steerable-vehicle storage and retrieval system is derived from the traditional crane-based automated storage and retrieval system, performing higher space utilization than the latter and keeping high degree automation. In this system, several autonomous steerable vehicles move orderly at the same time to store or retrieve unit loads, which requires the structure of the rail network satisfying a series of safeness constraints. If some equipments of the system fail (such as rail deformed, vehicle broken down or lifter jamming), the structure of the rail network would be damaged, which leads to the operation management framework of the system cannot work. In this paper, the changes of the network due to the equipment fails of the system are analyzed, and the methods to recover the operation management framework of the system are discussed. In the methods, rebuilding the trunk rail cycle and degrading cut edge rails are employed to repair the structure of the rail network, which recover the operation management framework of the failed system, avoiding the system collapse.

In this paper, a brain-computer interface (BCI) paradigm based on steady-state visually evoked potentials (SSVEP) is used to determine the motion effects of stimulus targets on the classification accuracy and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in a virtual environment. Several paths including fixed and up/down with different speeds were set to look for performance differences. Experimental results show that the accuracy with moving targets is sometimes better than that for conventional non-moving targets, and even the relative SNR is improved with motion on occasions. This provides a basis for intensive study of the influence of moving objects on BCIs and target detection in real environments.

A line-start interior permanent magnet (LSIPM) motor is an induction-start synchronous motor. LSIPM motors are subjected to inherent hunting phenomena. Applications such as reciprocating pumps and compressors create periodic load torque variations; inducing hunting in the system. Hunting introduces torsional vibration in the motor drive system. This paper presents a novel technique using the stator current signature to detect hunting for LSIPM motors. Wavelet packet decomposition is applied to analyze the stator current signals for identifying the electrical signatures of hunting. Experimental investigations have been carried out for a 3-phase 4-pole 208V, 1HP LSIPM motor in order to validate the performance of the proposed method under various operating conditions. A 3-phase full bridge IGBT inverter drive is used to operate the motor at variable command frequencies. Based on experimental results, the proposed technique can successfully identify the hunting phenomenon without a vibration/position sensor. It can be applied for LSIPM motors operated by either fixed frequency direct supply or power electronics based variable speed drives.

3D mapping for unknown environments is a crucial issue for mobile service robots, which has many important applications in navigation and path planning. In this paper, we use Microsoft kinect sensor mounted on a mobile robot to obtain 3D map. During the process, consistent frames of RGB-D data are captured and integrated. Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm and incremental registration method are employed to perform the fine registration. Furthermore, we use OctoMap to store 3D map of octree representation, an efficient data structure. Finally, our results demonstrate the practical applicability and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
