Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are widely applied in both civil and military fields, such as rescue, surveillance, exploration, navigation, precision agriculture and etc., because of small size, low cost and easy maintenance. However the autonomous flight of UAVs under unstructured environment is still open, especially when GPS is unavailable or indoor task is scheduled. Furthermore, GPS-based navigation accuracy needs to be improved. To deal with these limitations, in this paper, we provide an engineering-oriented solution of precise hovering based on visual servoing and fractional order proportionalintegral-derivative (PID) controller without GPS information. First, the mathematical speed model of a quadcopter is obtained by step response experiments. Then, fractional order PID controller algorithm is designed to improve its hovering accuracy and robustness. In our work, the position reference is extracted with an on-board color based target recognition algorithm instead of GPS. Both simulation and field experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve a better performance in terms of hovering accuracy and robustness to disturbances. In particular, for the first time, we show that, the sampling period can be bigger than usual when using fractional order control algorithm, relaxing costly hardware requirement for fast real-time vision-based feedback.

Silicon micro-fabricated gyroscope are very sensitive to ambient temperature, this paper conducted a novel active temperature controlling system. Combined with the PTC thermistor to detect internal temperature and the inserted TEC to control the temperature, encapsulation condition inside the gyroscope was kept in a stable situation. Experimental results showed that it greatly improved the performance of the micro-gyroscope. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Products with high reliability and long lifetimes undergo numerous stresses as they are used. Often there are multiple performance indicators for products that gradually degrade over time. The technology of Accelerated Degradation Test (ADT) with multiple stresses and multiple degradation measures provides an efficient and feasible way for lifetime prediction of such products. It is one of the core issues in ADT research how to design the plan of ADT with multiple stresses and multiple degradation measures to result in the most accurate lifetime prediction for such products under the constraint of test budget. Existing methods of optimal design for ADT are only for cases of a single stress or a single degradation measure which cannot be applied to solve the complex problem of optimal design for test plans under an occasion of multiple stresses and multiple degradation measures. Aimed at an occasion that analytical form of optimization objective function is difficult to derive or even does not exist, a novelty method of optimal design for ADT with multiple stresses and multiple degradation measures is presented by incorporating Monte Carlo simulation into dealing with this problem, setting up a optimization model including design variables, optimization objective function and constraints, presenting optimization algorithm based on Monte Carlo simulation and surface fitting. Optimal design for ADT with multiple stresses and multiple degradation measures of rubber sealing O-ring is taken as an illustrative example to demonstrate validity of the presented method. Results of sensitivity analysis of the optimal test plan show that the plan is robust when the deviation of parameters of the model is within 10%. © 2015 Taylor & Francis Group, London.

This paper focuses on resolving the identification problem of a neuro-fuzzy model(NFM) applied in batch processes. A hybrid learning algorithm is introduced to identify the proposed NFM with the idea of auxiliary error model and the identification principle based on the probability density function(PDF). The main contribution is that the NFM parameter updating approach is transformed into the shape control for the PDF of modeling error. More specifically, a virtual adaptive control system is constructed with the aid of the auxiliary error model and then the PDF shape control idea is used to tune NFM parameters so that the PDF of modeling error is controlled to follow a targeted PDF, which is in Gaussian or uniform distribution. Examples are used to validate the applicability of the proposed method and comparisons are made with the minimum mean square error based approaches.

The inefficiency to discriminate intermittent faults (IFs) from permanent faults (PFs) of systems, possibly resulting in early removal of components, may result in a scenario of increased can not duplicate, no trouble found, and retest OK. To address this problem, a novel fault model which includes both IFs and PFs is constructed. Thereafter, a fault discrimination approach based on diagnoser is derived. Since fault events are usually unobservable, it is difficult to discriminate IF from PF events captured in succeeding sensors, by treating environmental stresses (ESs) as fault events, the association model between ESs and fault is built. And then an algorithm is given to identify the fault events by evaluating the level of the correlative ESs. Finally, an example of aeronautic gyroscope is presented to demonstrate the proposed approach, and the analysis results show the approach is effective and feasible.

Feedback flow information is of significance to enable underwater locomotion controllers with higher adaptability and efficiency within varying environments. Inspired from fish sensing their external flow via near-body pressure, a computational scheme is proposed and developed in this paper. In conjunction with the scheme, Computational Fluid Dynamics （CFD） is employed to study the bio-inspired fish swimming hydrodynamics. The spatial distribution and temporal variation of the near-body pressure of fish are studied over the whole computational domain. Furthermore, a filtering algorithm is designed and implemented to fuse near-body pressure of one or multiple points for the estimation on the external flow. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed computational scheme and its corresponding algorithm are both effective to predict the inlet flow velocity by using near-body pressure at distributed spatial points.

Stress response is the foundation for calculating a structure's fatigue life during vibration testing. The frequency-domain method based on stress frequency-response function(SFRF) is widely used because of its convenience. For Gaussian random excitation, the frequency-domain method may have a good accuracy. But when it comes to super-Gaussian random excitation, this method is not that applicable. In this paper, the time-domain method for calculating the stress response of a cantilever beam under super-Gaussian random excitation is proposed by using mode superimposition method. Two numerical examples are presented with the help of MATLAB. As a result, for linear system, when the excitation is Gaussian(super-Gaussian) distributed, the stress response is Gaussian(super-Gaussian) distributed. And when the frequency span of the excitation keeps the same, the larger the kurtosis of the excitation is, the larger the kurtosis of the response will be. For super-Gaussian stress response, the bandwidth of the excitation can influence the kurtosis of the stress response. Specifically, the narrower the bandwidth is, the larger the kurtosis will be.

The paper designed a method to get hot water by combining heating method composed of solar collector and air source heating pump to change the former situation of environmental pollution and energy wasting brought by original oil-fired boilers. The control system offering user-friendly human machine inter face adopting the framework of PLC + HMI. Through fuzzy control strategy, the system is more stable and energy saving. The heat pump operation strategy is organized based on time-oriented electricity pricing policy. The practice proves that the system can save energy effetely and produce heat on-demand in real-time control.

Mobile devices have been widely used to assist the existing public transportation system. A new solution to the vehicle information collection is introduced. The hardware design of a vehicle information communication platform is mainly introduces, including platform power distribution design, the battery design, UART port expansion, the power supply isolation design and impedance matching design. Part of the final hardware platform debugging result is proposed. After testing, each power reduction module works stably and the GPS signal receiving ability is great.
