The vision-based target recognition and tracking have received much attention in the field of robotics. Existing methods mainly focus on the vision perception of individual robot with a single view, however, the performance is susceptible to illumination and occlusion. Multi-robot collaborative perception provides a potential solution to deal with the limitation of single-view observation, however, the challenging of environmental adaptability for multi-robot collaborative decision still remains unsolved. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a two-level adaptive target recognition and tracking method based on vision for multi-robot system. The problem of multi-robot target recognition and tracking is solved under a two-level framework, which contains the features fusion level of individual robot and the cooperation level of multi-robot system. In the first level, the features measuring results that influence the visual perception of individual robot are fused, while the second level combines the voting of each robot together to determine the target for multi-robot system. Both the features measuring weights and robots voting weights are adaptively updated according to their evaluation, which lead to a beneficial result where the features and robots with higher accuracy play major roles in the first and second levels, respectively. Therefore, a good adaptability to the environments can be guaranteed. The experimental results show that the proposed approach can realize the coordination of multi-robot system in target recognition and tracking with an effective performance. © 2019 IEEE.

This work proposes an alternative for total harmonic distortion (THD) attenuation in power inverters by combining two different circuit stages. The Macro stage comprises of a Neutral-Point-Clamped (NPC) multilevel inverter operating in high voltage and low switching frequency. The Micro stage is a two-level three-phase inverter, which is faster and more accurate due to its higher frequency and limited voltage. In this dual-stage approach, the opposite characteristics of the converters lead the Micro stage to correct the distortions of the Macro. It is possible to work with small values of filtering components, lower than the ones needed in a one-stage approach. This way, the presented proposal aims to reduce the physical size of the converter and its costs. The NPC inverter works in open loop with its switching signals generated by optimized pulse patterns (OPP). For correct THD filtering, a resonant control strategy with a Notch filter is designed in the frequency domain, as well as a feedforward structure designed in time domain. Simulation results show that the proposed system keeps voltage THD in acceptable levels for IEEE Standards.

Development of Advanced Driver Assistance (ADAS) systems and Automated Driving (AD) technologies require extensive calibration, testing and validation before such systems can be rolled out into the production line. It is in the interest of the OEMs to speed up these development cycles to ensure compliance with the expected performance requirements. In this paper, a novel steerable chassis dynamometer test bench with a corresponding methodology is introduced to develop and test ADAS/AD technologies. A use case example of tuning the camera-based implementations of the lane keeping assistant (LKA) and adaptive cruise control (ACC) functions on an AD demonstrator vehicle utilizing this test bench is described with preliminary performance results.

Solar-driven evaporation is a sustainable technology for freshwater production, yet its practical application is limited by (1) water vapor accumulation on the evaporator surface reduces sunlight absorption efficiency, (2) low clean water collection efficiency (<50 %), and (3) complex, non-portable designs. Herein, a collapsible and portable solar-driven evaporation–condensation (EC) system featuring cone array microstructures is developed to enable efficient directional backside evaporation and freshwater collection. The system incorporates a lightweight, retractable frame for enhanced portability, a hydrophilic nonwoven fabric for rapid water transport, and a CNTs/PDMS film with cone array microstructures to achieve high solar–thermal conversion and directional evaporation. Three sides of the system are equipped with pure PDMS films featuring cone arrays to facilitate efficient vapor condensation and water collection via the Laplace pressure gradient. Under 1 sun irradiation, the system demonstrates an impressive evaporation rate of 3.61 kg m −2 h −1 and a freshwater collection efficiency of ∼72 %, representing a 50 % improvement over traditional EC systems. A large-scale prototype produces 16.53 L m −2 day −1 of clean water, sufficient to meet the daily needs of 8 individuals. This portable, scalable, and low-cost EC system offers a practical and sustainable solution for freshwater recycling in outdoor or rural areas, addressing global water scarcity with minimal environmental impact.

This paper presents an application of formal methods based on model checking techniques for safety verification of a railway interlocking system. The proposed model checking techniques are implemented on a timed automaton model of the considered interlocking systems and with respect to safety operational specification that are expressed as computation tree logic formulas. The freely available UPPAAL model checker is used to perform the model checking task and simulation results of the performed verification are presented.

Background: systems Medicine is a novel approach to medicine, that is, an interdisciplinary field that considers the human body as a system, composed of multiple parts and of complex relationships at multiple levels, and further integrated into an environment. Exploring systems Medicine implies understanding and combining concepts coming from diametral different fields, including medicine, biology, statistics, modeling and simulation, and data science. Such heterogeneity leads to semantic issues, which may slow down implementation and fruitful interaction between these highly diverse fields. Methods: In this review, we collect and explain more than100 terms related to systems Medicine. These include both modeling and data science terms and basic systems medicine terms, along with some synthetic definitions, examples of applications, and lists of relevant references. In recent years, the network security problem of industrial control systems is very severe. It is particularly important to detect abnormal situations in the industrial control system network correctly and timely to avoid disasters in the physical world. This paper proposes a compound fuzzy clustering algorithm, taking TE process as the research object, to analyze its working mechanism and distinguish security threats it may encounter. Considering the coupling relationship between the production process unit in the industrial control system, fuzzy clustering is used for each process unit, which performs detection and comprehensive decision-making to obtain the final anomaly detection result. Experimental results show that the proposed compound fuzzy clustering algorithm can realize anomaly detection in industrial control systems.

Matching keypoints between images showing the same scene under different conditions is a fundamental step for a variety of applications. Recent approaches based on convolutional neural networks show superior results in terms of discriminability compared to well established descriptors like SIFT or ORB. However, there is less previous work which brings the CNNs to automated driving applications like SLAM and analyze the performance in terms of accuracy and runtime. In this work, we take state-of-the-art patch comparison CNNs, train them from scratch and analyze the performance on the KITTI odometry benchmark. For that, we replace the ORBfrontend within the publicly available ORB-SLAM2 framework through our trained CNN variants and compare both. We show that it is necessary to downsize the complexity of the original architectures to achieve real-time capability. Furthermore, our evaluation shows that the downsized models achieve significantly higher matching performance than the ORB descriptor. Moreover, we achieve slightly better results on the KITTI odometry benchmark compared to ORB-SLAM2 while using a CNN-based feature descriptor, which can easily be adapted to different environments.
