The CASE (Connected, Automated, Services, Electrification) trends are shaping the automotive industry, leading to new disruptive innovations and challenges. Besides level 4/5 automated driving or shared mobility, one major factor for the success of CASE are software over-the-air (SOTA) updates. Even though map updates are common, feature updates throughout the vehicle's life cycle are not yet. This results partially from non-existent virtual respectively hardware free test methods as well as environments for SOTA updates. Therefore, this paper presents a digital twin concept for virtual testing of software updates for mechatronic systems. Firstly, it allows to set up and load Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) test environments including individual vehicle configurations. Secondly, a graph based weighting algorithm enables the use of operational vehicle field data in combination with behaviourbased data from virtual test environments in order to enrich the test quality. Lastly, a traversal algorithm can detect the functions control flow and propagate test cases alongside it.

4-Nitroaniline (4-NA) compounds are considered highly hazardous to the environment and can be found in various chemical products, including pigments, dyes, fungicides, and pesticides. The presence of 4-NA in water poses significant carcinogenic risks to humans. Therefore, there is an urgent need to monitor and detect the environmentally hazardous 4-NA, especially in water samples. In this study, we have developed a novel nanocomposite based on barium stannate/halloysite-based (BaSnO3/HNTs) with a nanotube structure. The nanocomposite was synthesized using natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) and aimed at the selective electrochemical detection of 4-NA in water samples. Morphological studies clearly revealed the random incorporation of BaSnO3 nanoparticles (NPs) with diameters ranging from ∼10–50 nm onto the surface of HNTs. The incorporation of BaSnO3 NPs created more active sites and facilitated fast electron transport, as confirmed by EIS. Under a saturated N2 condition and at pH 7.0, the BaSnO3/HNT/SPCE exhibited excellent electrochemical performance with a very low limit of detection and a wide linear range of 2 nM and 0.009–1126 μM, respectively. Additionally, the proposed sensor for 4-NA demonstrated good anti-interference ability, repeatability (RSD ∼1.31%), and stability (RSD ∼1.09%). The obtained electrochemical analytical results of the synthesized composite validate its superior potential for real-time applications. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

The ability of PMUs to provide precise, synchronized readings of voltage, current and frequency has made them valuable for the observation of microgrids. In some microgrids, PMU s are utilized without a current transformer and only measure voltage phasor values. This research outlines a procedure to use μPMU (or micro-PMU) voltage readings to ascertain electric loads or photovoltaic (PV) production through gauging power flow (PF). The results of a study conducted at the Federal University of Paraná's Polytechnic School (UFPR) in Brazil demonstrated that utilizing the power flow calculated by a “virtual CT” approach, as measured by a standard power meter and with a higher time resolution from a microPMU, is a reliable and efficient method for recognizing events, monitoring PV generation, and non-intrusively monitoring load (NILM).

Leather cutting using laser can cause burns and undercuts if not tuned properly. The process of cutting optimized by changing the focal length of the laser module. The change in focal length can be made using a motorized system. The optimized values and tuned value can be parameterized with the sensors and solving for the cartesian and spherical transformation. Mathematically designing and planning the axis and motion of the controller with respect to location of the point in 3D space is used to move and annotate how the axis of motion is planned and how the axis of motion is defined. Presented over here is advanced focus control system which uses the data model from the distance sensor and manipulate the motion of the focal length of the laser module. The presented system also helps in understanding the focal depth which is there when the machine is moving in real time and this not only allows to understand how important the focal length control is but also allow how motion controlling and motion generation is affected in different situations. © 2020 IEEE.

Objective: To investigate significant dynamics of a Single link flexible joint (SLFJ) Robotic manipulator and chaotic control using ASMC algorithm. Methods/Analysis: The stiffness nonlinearity is considered by introducing the nonlinear function (x-x3) in the mathematical model of the system. Dynamical tools such as stability of equilibrium points, sensitive to initial conditions, orbit diagram for parameter variation, Lyapunov spectrum, and frequency spectrum are adopted. Adaptive Sliding Mode Controller (ASMC) is employed to suppress the chaotic nature of the system. Findings: Equilibrium point is calculated for the critical parameter values, Jacobian matrix and corresponding Eigen values are conjugate complex with negative real parts, hence the stability can be concluded as spiral saddle. The phase portraits showed the location and range of the chaotic attractor. The influence of parameter ′ a ′ is investigated with orbit diagram and lyapunov spectrum, the transition of system from periodic oscillations to chaotic oscillation is captured and presented. The frequency spectrum confirms the chaotic nature of the system. The parameter estimation, state trajectories and sliding surface showed the adaptive sliding scheme can successfully control the system in less than 0.3 seconds. Novelty: The nonlinear stiffness has never been considered in a SLFJ Robotic manipulator as per authors best knowledge. The results showed some new chaotic ranges for parameter variation which were not revealed before. To distinguish between noise and chaotic oscillation is a big issue in real-time system, we used frequency spectrum to expel the chaotic behavior. ASMC is designed to control the chaotic oscillation and results nailed the effectiveness. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The growing spread of electric vehicles in any performance class is leading to stricter safety requirements for the electric powertrain and increasing DC-link voltages for high-powered vehicles. Thus, fault-tolerant topologies such as the ANPC converter are coming into focus. Nevertheless, especially in the automotive industry, an ideal electric powertrain must combine high reliability, high efficiency and low cost to be competitive. Therefore, this paper presents an analytical approach to determine the efficiency and overall cost of an ANPC converter for different modulation strategies and a comparison with a state of the art two-level B6 converter. © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach.

An increasing trend in the use of neural networks in control systems is being observed. The aim of this paper is to reveal that the straightforward application of learning neural network feedforward controllers with closed-loop data may introduce parameter inconsistency that degrades control performance, and to provide a solution. The proposed method employs instrumental variables to ensure consistent parameter estimates. A nonlinear system example reveals that the developed instrumental variable neural network (IVNN) approach asymptotically recovers the optimal solution, while pre-existing approaches are shown to lead to inconsistent estimates. Object detection in aerial images plays a crucial role in parking space management, traffic monitoring, and surveillance systems. Every day, vast amounts of aerial and satellite imagery are being collected, and analyzing this extensive data can greatly benefit numerous practical applications. However, traditional Automatic Object detection in aerial image methods struggles with challenges posed by complex backgrounds and detecting small objects in large-scale scenes. To address the previously mentioned challenges, a Random Coupled Neural Network with Sand Cat Swarm Optimization (RCNNet+SCSO) is proposed for automatic object detection in aerial images, ensuring high accuracy. In this approach, images from the UC Merced dataset are used, and to initially reduce noise in the input data, Shape-Aware Mesh Normal Filtering (SAMNF) is introduced. Next, the pre-processed images are subjected to object detection using Improved YOLO-V4. Following that, classification is performed with the Random Coupled Neural Network (RCNNet), which is optimized by Sand Cat Swarm Optimization (SCSO), resulting in automatic object detection in aerial images with enhanced efficiency and accuracy. The performance of the proposed RCNNet+SCSO is evaluated using the UC Merced dataset, achieving 99.2% accuracy and demonstrating superior results compared to existing methods. The outcomes of the proposed technique showed automatic object detection in aerial images that enhance the efficiency of various applications, including urban planning, traffic management, and surveillance. By leveraging advanced algorithms, it accurately identifies vehicles, buildings, and other objects, even in complex environments. This technology offers improved scalability and precision compared to traditional methods.

Amine volatilization and degradation are important challenges in the development of nonaqueous biphasic solvents. A method is proposed to apply monoethanolamine (MEA) and aromatic amines (benzylamine (BZA) or N-methylbenzylamine (MBA)) to the development of novel nonaqueous biphasic solvents. The study found that the addition of MEA effectively solves the problem of the BZA-CO2 product being insoluble and the MBA-CO2 product having insufficient polarity. The CO2 products of aromatic amines exhibit low viscosity, requiring less dilution by organic solvents, which reduces unnecessary heating during CO2 regeneration and provides significant energy-saving benefits for the absorbent. Characterization by 13C NMR and DFT calculations show that the CO2 products of the absorbent exist in the form of carbamate/protonated amine. MBA is more prone to accept H protons from MEA+COO-, which is the main reason why MBA hinders BDMA from participating in the reaction. During the phase separation process in nonaqueous biphasic solvents, the MEA-CO2 product, through its own polarity and aggregation, creates favorable conditions for the separation of benzyldimethylamine (BDMA) from polar substances. Compared to 30 wt.% MEA, the two developed nonaqueous biphasic solvents exhibit low corrosivity and energy-saving characteristics, with estimated regeneration energies as low as 2.10 and 2.06 GJ/t (CO2), respectively. © 2024, The Authors.
