This paper addresses the effect of replacing damaged cells in a battery pack on the total State-of-Health (SoH) using a new technique in where the SoH of a Li-Ion battery pack is accurately determined. The new method is based on relating the parameters of a single-cell battery to determine the SoH in a multi-cell battery pack of the same type. This technique is applicable to the battery pack as it uses the battery pack impulse response to estimate the impact of replacing damaged cells on the battery pack. The time-consuming and expensive standard SoH measurement process can be avoided by this new method. The reference SoH function of the single cell can accurately and quickly estimate the SoH of the individual cells within the battery pack in order to identify the damaged ones. The obtained results have shown possible improvement in the SoH for the nonreplaced cells as well as the improvement in the life of the whole battery pack.

One of the challenges in the operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is power optimization under different operation mode. In solving the aforementioned problem, polygamy based selection Genetic Algorithm technique has been proposed in this work. The proposed technique involves parameter initialization, problem coding and optimization. The power requirement is coded as a bit of strings subject to power limit constraint. The initial solutions are evaluated based on the UAV power system objective function. The evaluated solutions are clustered into two different classes using K-Means algorithm. Chromosomes in the cluster with minimal centroid are then made to undergo polygamy mating subject to population control mechanism. Resulting solution were then mutated and the whole process continue till number of generation is reached or other termination criteria met. Application of the proposed technique shows that the average efficiency of UAV can be improved using the proposed algorithm.

According to the physical characteristics of the marine structure and acoustic wave propagation characteristics, in order to reduce underwater noise, a feedback control model of acoustic nonlinear interaction is established in this paper. The power spectrum and the acoustic energy changing characteristics of single-frequency acoustic wave, which has been through the nonlinear module, and the amplifier module, are analyzed respectively. This lays the foundation for the feedback control model of acoustic nonlinear interaction. Using the chaotic dynamics method, the simulation on the time-history chart, the phase diagram, the power spectrum and the maximum Lyapunov exponent of single-frequency acoustic wave, which go through the feedback control system under external excitation, is analyzed. The result of the simulation shows that, under the control system, the single-frequency acoustic wave amplitude values are modulated, the phase diagram is disorganized, the power spectrum shows the continuous broadband spectral characteristics, the maximum Lyapunov exponent is greater than zero, what's more, the greater the frequency of the external disturbance acoustic is and the smaller the amplitude is, the greater the reduction value of the acoustic energy of the low-frequency acoustic waves under the control system is. Therefore, the dynamic model of the single-frequency acoustic energy reducing in the marine media, in other words, the nonlinear feedback control system under the disturbance of the external excitation and high frequency and the small amplitude, takes shape initially.

Due to the complicated, multi-hierarchy, multi-attribute and creative process of product structure configuration of complex mechanism scheme design, we study the extension design mode for adaptive design of a large complex product and propose an expression model of multi-type design knowledge in the process of product design. Combined with the field of knowledge and the related design constraints, the adaptive design of extension model is established. The objective function of extension adaptive design is to present the compatibility of the conditions and objectives in the process of adaptive design. Through establishing the ideal positive and negative domains, it acquires the weighted extension superiority of decision scheme. This paper puts forward the extension optimization method of adaptive design for complex mechanical products. Then, it establishes and proposes a framework of extension design model for complex mechanical products. Finally, it analyses the design of large hydraulic turbine products to verify the validity and operability of the model.

Crash report-based studies indicate Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs) to still be at risk of severe injury /fatality on our roads. These studies also indicate frontal crashes to be the most frequently occurring crashes. This work proposes a method to quantify the "threat" from a vehicle front shape to a pedestrian. Injury indices were computed using impact simulations of finite element models of car profiles against multi-body pedestrian models at a speed of 40km per hour. 3 adult pedestrian models (95th %le and 50 th %le Male, 5th %le Female) and one 6 year old child model were considered in crash scenario simulations. Five injury indices, namely, HIC (15ms) for head injury, Viscous Criterion (VC) and resultant peak linear accelerations for chest, peak forces in femur and tibia for lower extremity were recorded from these simulations. An "Injury Cost" (IC) measure was then calculated by mapping injury indices to Abbreviated Injury Scale-based scores and then mapping them to cost implications. MAIS and ISS have also been discussed for comparison of threat. Ford Taurus (a pre- Euro- NCAP rated car, and named Profile 1), and Toyota Yaris (a post- Euro-NCAP rated car with 21 points, and named Profile 2) profiles were evaluated using the proposed IC measure. Equi-weighted IC showed Profile 2 to be safer than Profile 1 but specific population-based weighted IC indicated Profile 1 to be relatively safer.
