The increasing penetration of various distributed and renewable energy resources at the consumption premises,along with the advanced metering,control and communication technologies,promotes a transition on the structure of traditional distribution systems towards cyber-physical multi-microgrids(MMGs).The networked MMG system is an interconnected cluster of distributed generators,energy storage as well as controllable loads in a distribution *** its operation complexity can be decomposed to decrease the burdens of communi-cation and control with a decentralized ***,the multi-microgrid energy management system(MIVIGEIV1S)plays a significant role in improving energy efficiency,power quality and reliability of distribution systems,especially in enhancing system resiliency during contingencies.A comprehensive overview on typical functionalities and architectures of MMGEMS is ***,the emerging communication technologies for information monitoring and interaction among MMG clusters are ***,various energy scheduling and control strategies of MMGs for interactive energy trading,multi-energy management,and resilient operations are thoroughly analyzed and ***,some challenges with great importance in the future research are presented.

This paper presents a tunable stiffness actuator with a soft-rigid combined layer jamming mechanism. The tunable stiffness actuator is aimed to be integrated into an exosuit to prevent ankle sprain and avoid or mitigate the development of chronic ankle instability. The main purpose of the soft-rigid layer jamming mechanism is to produce large stiffness with a small volume and achieve a linear stiffness characteristic. To this end, the actuator is designed to include rigid retainer pieces within the soft silicone layers, and each soft-rigid layer is jammed to induce stiffness changes. To validate the stiffness characteristics of the proposed soft-rigid actuator, a series of experiments were performed and stiffness changes were investigated for varying jamming states from unjammed to fully jammed states. Increasing the number of jamming layer effectively increased the actuator stiffness, which was consistent with expected results from the analytical model. Soft-rigid actuator's stiffness at the fully jammed state was 212.1% and 123.1% higher than the unjammed state for one-side and both sides anchored conditions, respectively. Compared to the soft actuator without the rigid retainer, the soft-rigid actuator exhibited a more linear characteristic (Pearson correlation coefficient = 0.990 and 0.997 for one-side and both sides anchored conditions, respectively). Moreover, the soft-rigid actuator achieved significantly higher stiffness than the soft actuator in all jamming states (at least 41.3% increase in each jamming state). The results suggest a potential use of the tunable stiffness actuator to develop a soft ankle exosuit with highly variable but linear stiffness characteristics.

This paper presents a MATLAB/Simulink-based framework to co-simulate trajectory tracking for a dual-arm robot in the Robot Operating System (ROS) environment. Conventionally, a dual-arm robot can be controlled in MATLAB/Simulink with its model formed by the Simscape Multibody toolbox. However, due to the highly complex of multi-robot systems, simultaneously simulating the trajectory, controlling the dual-arm robot, and observing robot behaviors in the same environment can slow down the whole process. Therefore, a combination of two simulation environments, MATLAB/Simulink and ROS, is proposed. Firstly, a 3-DOF dual-arm model is implemented in the ROS environment giving visualization. Secondly, the trajectory tracking controller is designed in MATLAB/Simulink sending the robot control signal. The Simulink environment acts as a ROS node to communicate with the robot model in the ROS environment. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed co-simulation framework in reducing the complexity of calculations and simulations.

Architectural Distortion (AD) is a common abnormality in digital mammograms, alongside masses and microcalcifications. Detecting AD in dense breast tissue is particularly challenging due to its heterogeneous asymmetries and subtle presentation. Factors such as location, size, shape, texture, and variability in patterns contribute to reduced sensitivity. To address these challenges, we propose a novel feature fusion-based Vision Transformer (ViT) attention network, combined with VGG-16, to improve accuracy and efficiency in AD detection. Our approach mitigates issues related to texture fixation, background boundaries, and deep neural network limitations, enhancing the robustness of AD classification in mammograms. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves state-of-the-art performance, outperforming eight existing deep learning models. On the PINUM dataset, it attains 0.97 sensitivity, 0.92 F1-score, 0.93 precision, 0.94 specificity, and 0.96 accuracy. On the DDSM dataset, it records 0.93 sensitivity, 0.91 F1-score, 0.94 precision, 0.92 specificity, and 0.95 accuracy. These results highlight the potential of our method for computer-aided breast cancer diagnosis, particularly in low-resource settings where access to high-end imaging technology is limited. By enabling more accurate and timely AD detection, our approach could significantly improve breast cancer screening and early intervention worldwide. © 2013 IEEE.

Training of a Machine Learning model requires sufficient data. The sufficiency of the data is not always about the quantity, but about the relevancy and reduced redundancy. Data-generating processes create massive amounts of data. When used raw, such big data is causing much computational resource utilization. Instead of using the raw data, a proper Condensed Representation can be used instead. Combining K-means, a well-known clustering method, with some correction and refinement facilities a novel Condensed Representation method for Machine Learning applications is introduced. To present the novel method meaningfully and visually, synthetically generated data is employed. The harmonic elimination task of three-level neutral point clamped (3L-NPC) inverters is related to a complicated engineering optimization problem, which mainly involves constrained nonlinear transcendental equations with multiple solutions. In order to solve the problems of difficult initial value determination, slow convergence rates and susceptibility to local optima trapping in the process of using traditional numerical algorithms, This paper introduces a novel selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (SHEPWM) framework, enhanced by an adaptive restart genetic algorithm, to address the limitations of conventional optimization methods. By introducing the adaptive restart mechanism, the performance and robustness of the solution algorithm can be improved, so as to circumvent entrapment in local optima and secure the global optimum across the entire solution space. The simulation results show that there are divergent trends in the switching angles and the total harmonic distortion (THD) values of the output voltage obtained by the proposed method, but all of them can effectively eliminate the specified low-order harmonics. These findings verifies the practical applicability and solution diversity of the proposed method, as well as provides new ideas and methods for solving optimization problems in other engineering fields. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper proposes an observer-based formation tracking control approach for multi-vehicle systems with second-order motion dynamics, assuming that vehicles’ relative or global position and velocity measurements are unavailable. It is assumed that all vehicles are equipped with sensors capable of sensing the bearings relative to neighboring vehicles and only one leader vehicle has access to its global position. Each vehicle estimates its absolute position and velocity using relative bearing measurements and the estimates of neighboring vehicles received over a communication network. A distributed observer-based controller is designed, relying only on bearing and acceleration measurements. This work further explores the concept of the Bearing Persistently Exciting (BPE) formation by proposing new algorithms for bearing-based localization and state estimation of second-order systems in centralized and decentralized manners. It also examines conditions on the desired formation to guarantee the exponential stability of distributed observer-based formation tracking controllers. In support of our theoretical results, some simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed observers as well as the observer-based tracking controllers.

This article investigates the design of robust H∞ filters for Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy systems with time-varying delays, with a critical challenge in many consumer electronics applications. We extend existing research by incorporating Markovian jump parameters to model system uncertainties and considering internal–like time–varying delays, which are prevalent in real-world scenarios such as wireless communication and networked control systems in consumer devices. To address the complexities introduced by time-varying delays, we employ a three-term approximation model that more accurately captures the system dynamics compared to traditional approaches. Furthermore, we incorporate the time derivative of the membership functions (MFs) into the filter design, and its impact on system stability and performance. To ensure filter stability, we derive novel stability conditions based on the mode–dependent Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach, incorporating constraints on the higher bounds of the MF time derivatives. Leveraging the small–gain theorem with scaling techniques, we propose the design of both full-order and reduced-order H∞ filters, expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). These LMI–based solutions provide a systematic and computationally efficient approach for filter synthesis. Finally, we validate the effectiveness of our proposed filtering strategies through illustrative examples drawn from relevant consumer electronics applications, such as noise cancellation in audio devices, image stabilization in cameras, and vibration suppression in wearable devices. The results demonstrate the enhanced robustness and performance of the proposed filters in the presence of time-varying delays and uncertainties. © 1975-2011 IEEE.
