The harmonic elimination task of three-level neutral point clamped (3L-NPC) inverters is related to a complicated engineering optimization problem, which mainly involves constrained nonlinear transcendental equations with multiple solutions. In order to solve the problems of difficult initial value determination, slow convergence rates and susceptibility to local optima trapping in the process of using traditional numerical algorithms, This paper introduces a novel selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (SHEPWM) framework, enhanced by an adaptive restart genetic algorithm, to address the limitations of conventional optimization methods. By introducing the adaptive restart mechanism, the performance and robustness of the solution algorithm can be improved, so as to circumvent entrapment in local optima and secure the global optimum across the entire solution space. The simulation results show that there are divergent trends in the switching angles and the total harmonic distortion (THD) values of the output voltage obtained by the proposed method, but all of them can effectively eliminate the specified low-order harmonics. These findings verifies the practical applicability and solution diversity of the proposed method, as well as provides new ideas and methods for solving optimization problems in other engineering fields.

It is vital to the agricultural activities to have sufficient water supply for its operation and maintenance mainly for cultivation to keep it in good condition Therefore, it is important to determine the soil moisture levels existing while designing a precise irrigation system. Installing soil moisture sensors in each tree is complicated or excessively expensive. Forecasting the value using climate data is a viable solution in this scenario. Climate data are used to forecast soil moisture and then utilized in this irrigation model. This study uses an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to forecast soil moisture values. The statistical method is used to determine the predicted values’ correctness. In this paper, we incorporate the effect of nonlinear damping with the concept of locally resonant metamaterials to enable vibration attenuation beyond the conventional bandgap range. The proposed design combines a linear host cantilever beam and periodically distributed inertia amplifiers as nonlinear local resonators. The geometric nonlinearity induced by the inertia amplifiers causes an amplitude-dependent nonlinear damping effect. Through the implementation of both modal superposition and numerical harmonic methods with Alternating Frequency Time and numerical continuation techniques, the finite nonlinear metamaterial is accurately modeled. The resulting nonlinear frequency response reveals the bandgap is both amplitude-dependent and broadened. Furthermore, the nonlinear interaction between the local resonators and the mode shapes of the host beam is discussed, which leads to efficient modal frequency dissipation ability. The theoretical results are validated experimentally. By embedding the nonlinear damping effect into locally resonant metamaterials, wideband and shock wave attenuation of the proposed metamaterial is achieved, which opens new possibilities for versatile metamaterials beyond the conventional bandgap ranges of their linear counterparts. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

This paper provides an analysis of the current state-of-The-Art technologies in the field of auto-operators used in production during the electroplating process. General schemes of operations are presented, benefits and drawbacks of each scheme are discussed. The paper discusses an increase in the operating efficiency of the auto-operator in transient conditions (braking and acceleration) by reducing suspension oscillations and provides an example of a similar problem from other industries. In addition to the classification of the auto-operators, three main ways and control methods of the auto-operator of a galvanic line are presented. The main ways of eliminating oscillations during the movement of the auto-operator, as well as the rationale for the choice of adaptive (optimal) control, based on and comparing the basic control algorithms of the robot manipulator, are discussed. The comparative analysis of algorithms used to determine the optimal control has been carried out. Application field of each optimal control method described, moreover advantages and disadvantages as well as implementation methods described. Bellman dynamic programming method was chosen to eliminate oscillations of the suspension with details during the auto-operator transient conditions, the chosen method takes into account all necessary conditions to achieve the desired result. © 2021 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. This paper proposes a method for designing human-robot collaboration tasks and generating corresponding trajectories. The method uses high-level specifications, expressed as a Signal Temporal Logic (STL) formula, to automatically synthesize task assignments and trajectories. To illustrate the approach, we focus on a specific task: a multi-rotor aerial vehicle performing object handovers in a power line setting. The motion planner considers limitations, such as payload capacity and recharging constraints, while ensuring that the trajectories are feasible. Additionally, the method enables users to specify robot behaviors that take into account human comfort (e.g., ergonomics, preferences) while using high-level goals and constraints. The approach is validated through numerical analyzes in MATLAB and realistic Gazebo simulations using a mock-up scenario.

This research presents the design and implementation of a cost-effective radiation detection system using a Geiger-Muller tube. The system includes a high-voltage circuit, nuclear pulse conditioning, and SCADA integration for real-time data acquisition. The design process utilized Proteus for simulation and ensured optimal component layout. Implementation results confirmed the system’s reliability and accuracy in detecting gamma radiation, underscoring its importance for environmental monitoring and safety. The system provides an efficient and affordable solution for ionizing radiation detection.

In this paper, the surface morphology method is improved and the bit-rock interaction model between the rock and the PDC bit is studied, considering the influence of blades’ shape and the cutters’ arrangement. Based on this model, the dynamic model of the deep drilling system equipped with arbitrary shape PDC bit is established, and the stability prediction method is proposed. Based on the improved surface morphology method, the dynamic characteristics of the drilling system equipped with four different types of bit (an actual bit, a Tian bit, a Tian bit with blades, and a traditional bit) are studied, comparing with the Tian model based on polygon clipping. The results indicate that the influence of blades’ shape and cutters’ arrangement of PDC bit on the nonlinear vibration of the drilling system cannot be ignored. By applying the proposed method, the dynamic model of the drilling system equipped with an actual PDC bit presents excellent computational efficiency, accuracy, and avoids unreasonable behavior, which provides a reliable theory for the dynamic analysis of the drilling system. In addition, the proposed uncut volume error and repeated cutting volume error can be used to evaluate the shape design of the drill bit and the accuracy of the bit-rock interaction model. © 2023, The Authors. Consider a sensor network consisting of both anchor and non-anchor nodes. We address the following sensor network localization (SNL) problem: given the physical locations of anchor nodes and relative measurements among all nodes, determine the locations of all non-anchor nodes. The solution to the SNL problem is challenging due to its inherent non-convexity. In this paper, the problem takes on the form of a multi-player nonconvex potential game in which canonical duality theory is used to define a complementary dual potential function. After showing the Nash equilibrium (NE) correspondent to the SNL solution, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for a stationary point to coincide with the NE. An algorithm is proposed_ to reach the NE and shown to have convergence rate O(1/√k). With the aim of reducing the information exchange within a network, a distributed algorithm for NE seeking is implemented and its global convergence analysis is provided. Extensive simulations show the validity and effectiveness of the proposed approach to solve the SNL problem. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Parallel topology for star connected wind farms integrated with utility grid via voltage source Inverter (VSI) is a favorable topology. Faults in wind farms can be either AC or DC in nature. AC faults do not affect much the voltage source converters (VSC) connected with wind farms but DC faults damage these converters badly. This paper analyses faults and proposes protection scheme against different DC faults for star connected wind farms. Secondly, protection for the DC line is designed in such a way that if a fault occurs at any of the DC lines connected with VSC, the only faulty line should be isolated and thus providing protection to the remaining system. Moreover, the control system is designed in such a way that in case of single-source isolation remaining system will supply power to the utility grid and VSC and generator remain protected by inclusion of damping resistors. © 2020 IEEE.

The surface variations are the most common and accurate approach for the improvement of SiO2 dispersion nanoparticles. Additionally, the electrical properties can also be improved of polymer nanocomposites by using it. γ-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550) is the saline coupling agent and in this research, the SiO2 nanoparticles are treated with this agent so that the aggregation can be restricted. When the modifications in epoxy (SiO2) are made then it has more traps and the volume resistivity becomes larger in this result which is 3.22×1017 n/cm with the 1wt% SiO2 content. There are many interacted overlapping zones are occurred when the concentration of filler increases, like 3wt% and 5wt%. Eventually, the deep traps weakened their effect step by step but the outcome of shallow-traps is getting stronger which results in the decrease in resistivity in volume. Finally, the SiO2/epoxy resin which is a modified nanocomposite in this research work shows a minimum quantity of current with 1 wt.% as compared to unmodified nanocomposites. © 2021 IEEE.
