Complex systems are very hard to describe by some unified language and calculus. In cases when their nature is very heterogeneous is possible to use with advantage state description. Formalization of operations on the set of states usually leads to partial algebras. The work with partial algebras is rather difficult and unpractical. From this reason some methods approximating partial algebras by some more symmetrical objects are searched for. In this paper there is proposed an approximation of this algebras by free cyclic groups. Then using the combination of Matroid Theory and Ramsey theory of graph the prediction of a possible appearance of emergent situation is executed. Data and knowledge used in the paper for the demonstration of developed method application are from the field of Ecology. © 2019, Brno University of Technology. All rights reserved.

Human emotion recognition is important as it finds applications in multiple domains such as medicine, entertainment, and military. However, accurately identifying emotions remains challenging due to humans’ ability to hide or suppress their emotional expressions. Hence it becomes important to recognize emotions by using brain signals as they provide more reliable data. Brain signals can be captured using Electroencephalograms (EEG) electrodes. Most used EEG devices come with multiple channels. But not all channel information is important for emotion recognition. Another issue with the existing dataset is the availability of a small quantity of samples. To address these challenges, we propose MLAR-Net, a novel multi-level attention module for emotion recognition using single-channel EEG signals. Our approach converts EEG signals into spectrograms using multiple parameters to generate large set of images. This data is then processed through our proposed MLAR-Net, which integrates a multi-level attention module with ResNet18 architecture. Our study identifies channel number 24 (T7) as the most effective for emotion classification, achieving an average accuracy of 98.06% using cubic support vector machine and a maximum accuracy of 99.51% using fine K-Nearest Neighbours. The study was conducted using SEED dataset. It is a publicly available dataset developed by capturing EEG signals from fifteen subjects for three classes of emotions namely positive, negative and neutral. The results achieved by the proposed study show around 4 to 5% improvement in comparison with the state-of-the-art studies using the same channel. This performance surpasses existing state-of-the-art methods for single-channel EEG-based emotion recognition. Furthermore, we highlight the top-performing channels that can be used for real-time implementation of the system with a minimum number of channels. © 2013 IEEE.

The aim of this paper is to present an active and effective method for shaping the local three-dimensional defor-mation. It is based on a proposed device called a "segment controller"and it can reduce vibrations of flexible structures like for example, a lightweight robot arm. One possible solution is an appropriate local controller that uses the principle of energy flow, measured at arm nodes. The designed controller consists of a chain of active piezoelectric segments. The control force is determined on the basis of the local stress measurement of the current segment and its neighbours. The segment controller uses the RST (Reference Signal Tracking) structure, so tracking and regulation can be tuned in-dependently. Its coefficients were determined from symbolic manipulations of Diophantine equation. In order to exam-ine the capabilities of the method the linearized robot arm model is considered. The transfer functions of the system in question were derived using the FEM method with 5- order Hermite polynomials as base functions. Model is tuned with the innovative templates method, which allows getting the best match for the assumed criteria. The results of simulation tests show that the proposed "segment controller"reduces vibration of a flexible light arm effectively, changes the arm deflection, and is resistant to damage to some chain segments. It has been shown that the robustness of the device strongly depends on the location of segment actuators along the flexible arm, and is high for distribution in accordance with the principle of the "golden section". © 2020 VDE Verlag GMBH.

Nano-zerovalent iron (nZVI) is one of the inspiring materials for the removal of organic and inorganic pollutants from contaminated water. Here we explore the potential of a novel composite of nZVI on a polymer-derived supporting ceramic (nZVI-PDC) via the liquid-phase reduction method for simultaneous adsorption and Fenton-type reduction of bromate anion (BrO3-) in water. The nZVI nanoparticles were well-anchored onto PDC by impregnating high-yield carbon in a ferrous sulphate solution. The PDC equally dispersed the nZVI nanoparticles owing to its multiple active sites confined over the mesocarbon cavities. The developed nZVI-PDC composite exhibited a high specific surface area (837 m2 g-1) and an ordered mesoporous structure (0.37 cm3 g-1 pore volume). The nZVI-PDC composite exhibited an 85.4% higher BrO3-removal efficiency in 6 hours at pH 4.0 with 60 mg L-1BrO3- and 0.8 mmol L-1 H2O2 concentration, compared to PDC and nZVI. The modelling indicated that the nZVI-PDC composite followed pseudo-second-order kinetics. The remarkable removal efficiency of the nZVI-PDC composite was owing to the synergistic effects of PDC and nZVI, in which PDC executed a medium of charge transfer to encourage the Fe2+ generation and Fe3+/Fe2+ cycle. Overall, this work provided a promising adsorption technology for efficient removal of BrO3- from contaminated aqueous solutions. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Galloping based piezoelectric energy harvester is a kind of micro-environmental energy harvesting device based on flowinduced vibrations.A novel tristable galloping-based piezoelectric energy harvester is constructed by introducing a nonlinear magnetic force on the traditional galloping-based piezoelectric energy *** on Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and Kirchhoff’s law,the corresponding aero-electromechanical model is proposed and validated by a series of wind tunnel *** parametric study is performed to analyse the response of the tristable galloping-based piezoelectric energy *** results show that comparing with the galloping-based piezoelectric energy harvester,the mechanism of the tristable galloping-based piezoelectric energy harvester is more *** the increase of a wind speed,the vibration of the bluff body passes through three branches:intra-well oscillations,chaotic oscillations,and inter-well *** threshold wind speed of the presented harvester for efficiently harvesting energy is 1.0 m/s,which is decreased by 33% compared with the galloping-based piezoelectric energy *** maximum output power of the presented harvester is 0.73 mW at 7.0 m/s wind speed,which is increased by 35.3%.Compared with the traditional galloping-based piezoelectric energy harvester,the presented tristable galloping-based piezoelectric energy harvester has a better energy harvesting performance from flow-induced vibrations.

Rigid-body industrial robotic manipulators and pneumatic compression systems are widely used in mechano-therapeutic applications. However, rigid and bulky components reduce the wearability of the system in mobile environments. The current trend in wearable robotics tends to build such devices using textiles/silicone materials thanks to their lightness, compliancy, and comfort properties. In this study, thermally powered soft fluidic actuators that utilize liquid/gas phase transition property of low boiling point liquids are investigated. Proposed actuators generate desired pressure level and have great potential to free mechano-therapy devices from such bulky components. The developed structure incorporates textile-based heaters, thin film actuator shells, and low boiling point liquids. Here, two low boiling liquids with different boiling temperature are mixed successfully in order to obtain desired boiling point. Results a revealed that actuators constructed with PE/PA membrane did not show any deterioration even after 500 cycle actuation. In order to control the system, instantaneous temperature of the textile-based heater on the actuator device is used as feedback for the on-off controller.

They have surface tension, that is approximately an order of magnitude higher than that of water, owing to the high surface energy of metals. The ultra-high surface tension creates a stream of liquid metal droplets to minimize surface energy, and therefore, creating other shapes is difficult. Enormous efforts have been made to manipulate liquid metals into various shapes and patterns, and are driven by emerging opportunities for soft.

An optimal waste collection is a very complicated task in different countries. However, this task is more intricate, when there is not an organized procedure between people, government and technology. In this research it was studied and proposed strategies, to optimize the waste collection by technical suggestions, that were based on mathematical analysis and new technologies applications of sensors based on nanostructures due to this kind of sensors have good performance to measure physical variables in not simple places and conditions, such as around waste. Hence the reason, this work is prepared to contribute in the development of sensors based on nanostructures according to detect the physical variables: temperature, humidity, infrared reflection, moreover carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) gases, which help to monitor the consequences of a not correct waste *** dependence on central and local government rules of waste management, it could be possible to find solution about organized waste collection, in which every family and walkers in streets would have the task to select the organic and inorganic garbage before the government trucks take the contents of the garbage trash cans to the landfill garbage dumps. However, many times the trash cans are not taken on time by the government trucks and garbage from them are producing gases and decomposition that causes contamination that damages health. Therefore, in this work there are proposed designed intelligent sensors, which are fixed in the trash cans due to measure physical parameters to give alarm for administrators controllers of boxes and to enhance the garbage selections from homes and streets to the main garbage landfills of the city. In other side, there will not be right solution in the waste collection, no matter the high advantage technologies, while humans could not be sensitive under this problematic. This paper reviews ultrasonic (US) and electromagnetic wave (EM) EOR techniques. Due to decrease in discoveries of oil reservoirs during the recent years, it is deduced that the only way to meet the shortage of oil in coming years is to improve the efficiency of enhance oil recovery (EOR). Every EOR method has its own pros and cons. Electromagnetic enhanced oil recovery method is cost-effective and environmental friendly. Another relatively new approach because of its easy applicability, energy efficiency, eco-friendliness, or "green technology" which is getting attention of researchers is known as ultrasonic enhance oil recovery. The irradiation of ultrasonic wave and electromagnetic heating has advantage of minimizing heat loss during enhance oil recovery. This study focuses on the investigation of effect of power and frequency of US and EM wave enhance oil recovery. This paper concludes that the application of US and EM wave to oil reservoir resulted in significant improvement in enhance oil recovery of heavy crude oil. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

Joint Routing and Charging Problem of Electric Vehicles with Incentive-Aware Customers Considering Spatio-Temporal Charging Prices

This paper investigates the scheduling problem of a fleet of electric vehicles, providing mobility as a service to a set of time-specified customers, where the operator needs to solve the routing and charging problem jointly for each EV. Hereby we consider incentive-aware customers and propose that the operator offers monetary incentives to customers in exchange for time flexibility. In this way, the fleet operator can achieve a routing and charging schedule with lower costs, whilst the customers receive monetary compensation for their flexibility. Specifically, we first propose a bi-level optimization model whereby the fleet operator optimizes the routing and charging schedule accounting for the spatio-temporal varying charging price, jointly with a monetary incentive to reimburse the delivery time flexibility experienced by the customers. Concurrently the customers choose their own time flexibility by minimizing their own cost. Second, we cope with the computational burden coming from this nonlinear bi-level optimization model with an accurate reformulation approach consisting of the KKT optimality conditions, a Big-M-based linearization method, and the zero duality gap of convex optimization problems. This way, we convert the proposed problem into a single-level optimization problem, which can be solved by a strengthened generalized Benders decomposition method holding a faster convergence rate than the generalized Benders decomposition method. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed mathematical model, we carry out numerous simulation experiments by using the VRP-REP data of Belgium. The numerical results showcase that the proposed mathematical model can reduce the delivery fees for the customers together with the cost of operation incurred by the fleet operator. © 2022, The Authors.
