This paper presents the dynamic modelling and end effector position control of a soft endoscope. Soft endoscope system under study consists mainly of a pneumatic driven soft actuator (PDSA) with four independently chambers. Recurrent neural network (RNN) and dynamic back propagation (DBP) training algorithm are used to obtain PDSA dynamic model. PDSA position controller is based on a feedforward neural network (FNN) and it is trained using PDSA closed loop system (CLS) and DBP training algorithm. CLS stability analysis concludes that it is not possible control PDSA end effector position using one position controller for different end effector initial and desired positions. Fuzzy logic methodology is used to integrate several positions controllers in a one controller valid for all operation range. The controller implementation and close loop system simulation are performed in MATLAB for different end effector desired position to validate system performance in all range of operation. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper employs system identification to characterize Industrial Hydraulics System (IHS) system using an open-loop method. It utilizes a black box approach for estimating the model and parameters of the system using MATLAB System Identification Toolbox. The paper presents three data sets and validates the estimated model using statistical methods such as percentage best fit, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), histogram analysis, and correlation analysis. The process began by obtaining the input-output data from the experimental work. The validation results obtained from the input-output data reveals an average best fit percentage for the three data sets is approximately 85%. The data sets show small RMSE values, histogram analysis reveals a Gaussian distribution and strong evidence of the validity of the IHS model in the correlation analysis. Various orders of analysis were conducted, with the results indicating that a third-order linear system offers the closest representation of the IHS. The IHS has been modeled and validated using black box system identification has proven successful as there is no significant disparity in the outcomes. © 2024 IEEE.

60NiTi alloy is considered to be a promising material for specialized bearing and gear applications due to its high hardness,strength,and low ***,fabricating 60NiTi through conventional processing methods is challenging due to the brittleness and poor *** this study,60NiTi with high relative density was successfully fabricated directly from pre-alloyed powder through hot isostatic *** effects of solution and aging treatments on microstructure and mechanical properties were systematically studied by advanced characterization *** hot-isostatic-pressed 60NiTi showed low average hardness and elastic strain due to the formation of a soft Ni_(3)Ti phase and B2 NiTi *** treatment above 1000℃dissolved the Ni_(3)Ti phase and promoted the formation of nanoscale Ni_(4)Ti_(3)precipitates,which significantly improved the hardness,strength,and elastic strain of *** formation of the Ni_(4)Ti_(3) phase can be mainly attributed to the driving forces induced by the chemical supersaturation and mechanical stress ***,the phase transformation mechanisms during heat treatment and compression test were discussed.

Fractional-order binary bat algorithm for feature selection on high-dimensional microarray data

High-dimensional microarray data suffer from the confounding effects of irrelevant, redundant and noisy genes on the scalability and efficiency of classification algorithms. In order for an effective dimensionality reduction and the selection of informative genes, this paper introduces a novel approach using fractional calculus concepts. This study proposes a modified version of binary the bat algorithm named fractional-order binary bat algorithm (FBBA) able to control the convergence process using more historical memory of bat behaviors. The gene selection technique contains a two-stage hybrid filter/wrapper method which employs a new correlation-based feature clustering (CFC) algorithm in the filter stage and the FBBA in the wrapper stage. The CFC-FBBA is evaluated on ten microarray gene expression datasets by employing the support vector machine classifier with a k-fold Monte Carlo cross validation data partitioning model. Furthermore, the results show that the CFC-FBBA, while minimizing the size of the gene subset, achieves the highest classification accuracy in most cases compared to several state-of-art hybrid techniques. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

The purpose of this research is to employ non-integer order calculus to enhance the control action of the non-linear fractional order fuzzy PD plus I (FOFPD + I) controller. To operate a non-linear 6-DOF Puma 560 robotic arm, a FOFPD + I controller is developed and implemented. Fractional order fuzzy proportional derivative (FOFPD) and fractional order fuzzy integral (FOFI) controllers are used to create the proposed controller. Because of the non-linear gains, the proposed control approach preserves the linear structure of the fractional order proportional derivative plus integral (FOPD + I) controller while still providing adaptive capabilities. Further, the PID controller is also derived to compare with the FOFPD + I controller. Both, FOFPD + I and PID controller’s parameters are optimized using non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II). The performance and effectiveness of the presented controller are examined in terms of trajectory tracking, tracking error, and robotic arm control efforts. Simulation shows excellent performance of FOFPD + I controller over traditional PID and fuzzy logic controllers. To be precise, on the current optimal solution, suggested controlling strategy is more than 80% efficient than other strategies. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

The design of bulk metallic glasses(BMGs)via machine learning(ML)has been a topic of active research ***,the prior ML models were mostly built upon supervised learning algorithms with human inputs to navigate the high dimensional compositional space,which becomes inefficient with the increasing compositional complexity in ***,we develop a generative deep-learning framework to directly generate compositionally complex BMGs,such as high entropy *** framework is built on the unsupervised Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)algorithm for data generation and the supervised Boosted Trees algorithm for data *** studied systematically the confounding effect of various data descriptors and the literature data on the effectiveness of our framework both numerically and *** importantly,we demonstrate that our generative deep learning framework is capable of producing composition-property mappings,therefore paving the way for the inverse design of BMGs.

In many practical situation, control experts can only formulate their experience by using imprecise ("fuzzy") words from natural language. To incorporate this knowledge in automatic controllers, Lotfi Zadeh came up with a methodology that translates the informal expert statements into a precise control strategy. This methodology – and its following modifications – is known as fuzzy control. Fuzzy control often leads to a reasonable control – and we can get an even better control result by tuning the resulting control strategy on the actual system. There are many parameters that can be changed during tuning, so tuning usually is rather time-consuming. Recently, it was empirically shown that in many cases, quite good results can be attained by using a special 1-parametric tuning procedure called fractional fuzzy inference – we get up to 40% improvements just by selecting the proper value of a single parameter. In this paper, we provide a theoretical explanation of why fractional fuzzy inference works so well. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper presents the service-aged MV underground cable experiment using very low frequency (VLF) testing. The underground cables in this experiment have been utilized in service for more than 10 years and subjected to TEAM stresses, particularly with moisture, throughout the service time. So, the effect of moisture leads these cables to bad condition. The cables under the experiments are both service-aged and unaged. These cables were prepared the same by peeling both end sides of the cables and were terminated with high voltage insulating tape. The VLF test combined with the tangent delta (tanδ) measurement, according to IEEE Std. 400.2-2013 was performed to assess the condition of these cables and compare them with the unaged cable. The test results revealed that according to IEEE standard 400.2-2013, the service-aged underground cables were assessed in Action Required criteria. Still, the unaged underground cable was assessed in the Further Study Required criteria. Moreover, the tanδ values from service-aged underground cables have significant differences, with service-aged underground cables having higher values than unaged cables. Besides, the variation of tanδ data samples at each test voltage level from some underground cables shows a decreasing trend at 1.0U0 and 1.5U0. Nevertheless, the test voltage at 0.5U0 shows the constant trend of tanδ samples. This analyzed result can indicate that the insulation condition has humidity inside the cable insulation. © 2024 IEEE.
