This paper presents modeling techniques for submerged membrane bioreactor (SMBR) filtration process using. The Nonlinear Auto Regressive with Exogenous Input (NARX) structure was used with adaptive neuro-fuzzy interface system (ANFIS) and feed forward neural network (FFNN) are employed to model the filtration system. The transmembrane pressure and the permeate flux were model during the relaxation and permeate cycle. In this work diluted palm oil mill effluent (POME) will be used as an influent of the treatment process. The performance of the models was measured using the R~2, mean square error (MSE) and mean absolute deviation (MAD). The result showed that the ANFIS with NARX structure perform slightly better compare with ANN with NARX structure.

This research paper proposes a single camera based depth estimation technique. The proposed technique takes images of walls in a room and detects objects of interest in a cluttered environment. Having detected different objects in a room the proposed technique calculates their areas. Based on training data and polynomial curve fitting approach the proposed technique estimates the distance of the camera from the objects. For a real world object one can determine a fixed equation which can then be used to find any random distance. The approach is efficient and can effectively be applied to any indoor navigation or motion planning algorithm. Based on the estimated distances from different objects the proposed algorithm estimates the accurate location of the camera (mounted on a robot) in a room. For detection we have used template matching technique. Algorithm compares the reference template with the objects of interest in a cluttered environment by using SURF (speeded up robust features). The proposed algorithm is tested on real world images and compared with the existing depth estimation techniques.

In this article, the ball and beam trajectory tracking problem is tackled using a robust Generalized Proportional Integral (GPI) controller. The controller is developed on the basis of the tangent linearized system model around the equilibrium point. The approximate linearized system is differentially flat, and hence, controllable. Flatness reveals that the resulting linearized system has an interesting cascade property which allows the simplification of the controller design. Experimental results are included to show the effectiveness of the controller in trajectory tracking and disturbance rejection control.

The methods of cooking oil discerning are important for the sustainability of the cooking oils supply chain. Classical methods to measure cooking oil quality based on gas chromatography (GC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) are too expensive for widespread industrial or household uses and require samples to be analysed in dedicated laboratories thus incurring significant time penalty. Therefore, efforts to develop a reliable and highly sensitive system that may provide on-site cooking oil discrimination is an important priority. Presented research work describes a real time non-invasive discriminating technique for cooking oils. A planar electromagnetic sensor consists of the combination of two sensors which are a meander sensor and an interdigital sensor. The meander type of coil is connected in series with the interdigital coil. Due to the ac voltage applied, the combination of meander and interdigital coils produce electromagnetic field which interacts with the material under test. Three types of cooking oil were prepared namely corn oil, refined palm oil, and sunflower oil. The impedance spectra so obtained showed that the sensor was able to detect the difference between different types of cooking oil samples. Both theory formulation and experiment outcomes were used to testify the measurement for cooking oil discrimination.

Sequential composition is an effective supervisory control approach for addressing challenging control problems on complex dynamical systems. It constructs a back-chaining sequence of controllers to achieve the control objective using simple local controllers. Although sequential composition works properly for a single system, it is not designed for cooperative systems. This paper extends the standard sequential composition by introducing a novel approach to compose multiple sequential composition controllers towards cooperative control. Given two or more systems, cooperation is achieved by composing each of the systems' supervisory finite-state machines, together with the estimation of the domains of attraction of the composed controllers. We present the simulation and experimental results of an inverted pendulum system collaborating with a second-order DC motor for cooperative swing-up maneuvers.

In this paper, we investigate the optimal performance for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication networked system under the QoS constraints through tracking a unit step signal. The expression of optimal performance for MIMO communication networked system is obtained by using of co-prime factorization, partial factorization, and spectral decomposition. It is shown that the optimal tracking performance is closely related to the nonminimum phase zeros and unstable poles of the plant, determined by their locations and directions. We also demonstrated that packet dropout and network-induced delay may degenerate the optimal tracking performance and encoder-decoder can be designed to improve the systems tracking ability. Some typical examples are given to illustrate the theoretical results.

This paper investigates the coordination control system using linear switched reluctance motors (LSRMs). LSRMs have the advantages of fast response, high precision with no backlash. In this paper, a coordination control system using LSRMs based on dSPACE real-time control platform is built. This system uses serial communication to transmit position information among LSRMs. The experiment results show that the dynamic error of this coordination control system can be controlled within 1mm.

In this paper, to study the load characteristics of the asymmetric bilateral linear switched reluctance generator, theoretical analysis is first derived. Then the characteristics of the machine are investigated by the finite element method. Experiments at different loads are carried out for the asymmetric bilateral linear switched reluctance generator. The experiments are based on dSPACE DS1104 controller board and control Desk software package combined with Matlab/Simulink toolbox. The results demonstrate that each phase is decoupled from the magnetic circuit, and with the increment of load, the rate of discharging current increases.
