This paper presents an original detection system for measuring the speed of vehicles on a road used in the laboratory for educational and testing purposes. Although the maximum speed limit is specified for each type of road, accidents still occur due to unjustified exceeding of speed limits. Therefore, it was found that these problems could be solved with the help of electronic circuits. Thus, the paper presents the development of an original educational system for detecting the speed of a road vehicle, which consists of an Arduino UNO Rev3 microcontroller, two infrared sensors, a 1602A LCD and an electronic system specially used for the intelligent braking of the vehicle, using for this a wireless communication system. The entire original system will be integrated into an autonomous safety vehicle system. © 2022, Cefin Publishing House. All rights reserved.

Hardware resource management in a hybrid IT infrastructure combines the management of public cloud resources with the management of private cloud resources that are most often owned in the organization's on-premises infrastructure. According to the IBM Transformation Index, approximately 77% of organizations have adopted a hybrid IT infrastructure in the cloud. Hybrid cloud infrastructure combines the 3 types of IT infrastructures, namely: the organization's on-premises IT infrastructure, the IT infrastructure that forms the organization's private cloud, and the public cloud that is made available by cloud service providers. This combination of IT infrastructures comes with different challenges in terms of security, hardware and software compatibility, connectivity, and interoperability, all of which are managed by the IT team. Public cloud is easier to manage than private cloud because cloud service providers take care of the maintenance of the hardware infrastructure and provide services through which users can manage the infrastructure at the level of processing, storage, memory, etc. resources. but offers less control on the security side. The management of the hardware resources to which an organization has access is important in view of the fact that this environment can accommodate different services and applications that quickly circulate data between on-premises systems and the public or private cloud and that make different services of the organization available to internal and external users. Hybrid infrastructure management has become a challenge for many organizations from both a technical, economic and human point of view. © 2025 The Author(s). Fabrication of Microchannels on Aluminium-Coated Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) Using a Low Power CO2 Laser

The emergence of microfluidics as one of the most viable technologies for making various microfluidic devices has greatly enhanced miniaturization in several areas. The utilization of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) for making such devices using CO2 lasers has significantly increased due to the flexibility, time, and cost-effectiveness involved. However, attaining microchannels with accurate dimensions is a challenge because of the resulting defects like bulges, high heat-affected zone (HAZ), and surface roughness (Ra). This paper presents a novel attempt to engrave rectangular microchannels on PMMA substrates using a CO2 laser by coating the substrates with a thin layer of 1 μm thickness of 99.95% pure aluminium. The study investigated the effects of power, and speed on the quality of the microchannels. The fabrication was done on both coated and uncoated substrates under the same conditions and the results were compared. Power and speed ranged from 1.5 to 7.5 W and 5 to 17.5 mm/s, respectively. At 1.5 W and 17.5 mm/s, the aspect ratio increased by 37.16%. However, the microchannel depth, width, HAZ, and Ra all reduced by 44.66%, 59.68%, 29.44%, and 64.74% respectively. At 7.5 W and 5 mm/s, the aspect ratio increased by 81.46%. However, the microchannel depth, width, HAZ, and Ra all reduced by 21.84%, 54.64%, 32.36%, and 72.70% respectively. Extensible Soft Robots (ESRs) have increasingly attracted attention, especially in tight and complex environments, owing to their dexterity, and wide reachable workspaces relative to their volume. The existing actuation methods of ESR still suffer from challenges including large dimensions, expensive, complex modeling and control, and limited payload capacity. In this paper, we introduce a novel design for a lightweight, extensible and variable stiffness soft robot-based cable-driven actuation without backbone. The design composes of one section with three segments based on semi-octagon honeycomb structure, wherein the middle segment acts like a soft spring to provide extension feature. Additionally, the top and bottom segments have identical structure with two honeycomb patterns embedded within each other to improve the stiffness of the design. A design analysis is conducted to optimize the proposed structure with respect to stress and displacement. Additionally, a shape estimation approach is utilized to get accurate inference of the prototype's shape based on data acquired from a low-cost Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and Motion Capture System (MCS), and constant curvature assumption. A series of experiments including workspace reach-ability, repeatability, shape approximation and payload analysis are carried out to validate the proposed design. The results show that the prototype exhibits good compression/extension ratio up to 42% and 50% relative to its normal length, respectively. Moreover, its payload capability reaches to 565 grams. © 2023 IEEE.

Pet owners experience difficulty in understanding their pets' body language and its implications for animal welfare, given that animals cannot utilize human speech to communicate their emotions and health conditions. However, previous experiments for analyzing cat behavior have demonstrated that cats are precisely expressive. DeepCat, a deep-learning approach developed in this study, translates cats' body language signals, enabling owners to discern their feline companions' intended messages and emotional states. Our DeepCat model was trained on a dataset comprising 10,000 cat images, implementing automatic labeling to track key features, including the tail, eyes, and mouth. Presented as a Flutter application, DeepCat can function everywhere, allowing owners to easily monitor their cats and make informed decisions in situations that require caution. This paper discusses the potential benefits and limitations of DeepCat and provides suggestions for future research in this domain. © 2023 IEEE.

In the post-COVID erа, there hаs been а growing emphasis on the significance of disinfecting objects individuals come into contаct with. Mobile disinfection robots hаve emerged аs а definitive solution to meet this demаnd. However, inherent issues in their current design mаy pose chаllenges leаding to: continuous virus contamination (there is a risk that mobile UV robots may fail to reach all areas or fully eliminate pathogens, which could allow viruses to survive and subsequently spread infections);increase in the number of disease cases (incomplete disinfection may lead to the persistence of viruses in the environment, thereby increasing the likelihood of disease transmission and the emergence of a greater number of infection cases);illness among medical staff (if the environment in which medical staff operate is not fully disinfected, they may be exposed to the risk of infection with various pathogens, jeopardizing their health and ability to provide adequate medical care);the loss of human lives (inefficiency in disinfection can contribute to the spread of infectious diseases, leading to a higher number of deaths among the population, underscoring the need to address and resolve these issues). This scientific endeаvor аims to outline the primаry chаllenges аssociаted with conventional mobile disinfection robots and introduce a solution through the implementation of аn Аutonomous Mobile Plаtform equipped with а UV Ray Disinfection System. A critical issue identified in conventional mobile disinfection robots pertаins to their inаbility to ensure mаximum efficiency in preventing the spreаd of viruses. Since the emergence of microfluidics, the demand for microfluidic devices is ever increasing. Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is extensively used to manufacture microfluidic devices because it is cheap, disposable, and biocompatible. CO2 laser micromachining of PMMA is cheap, fast, and efficient. However, thermal defects affect the process. In this work, a passive continuous-flow T-shaped micromixer was fabricated using a low-power CO2 laser. Microchannels were fabricated on PMMA substrates coated with a 1-µm layer of 99.95% pure aluminium. The power and speed of the laser varied from 1.5 to 7.5 W and 5 to 17.5 mm/s respectively. The effects of the deposited energy on surface roughness, heat-affected zone, and volumetric removal rate were examined. The microchannels were characterized to get the suitable dimensions for the micromixer’s microchannel which was fabricated at 3.0 W and 17.5 mm/s. The micromixer was bonded using the microwave welding technique and tested for leakage using purple dye by varying the flow pressure at intervals of 100 kPa for 20 min. Up to 1.5 MPa, no leakage occurred. Beyond 1.5 MPa, any increase in pressure resulted in leakage from the inlet tubes. Coating PMMA substrates with 99.95% pure aluminium before fabrication reduces thermal defects and improves efficiency. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

This paper deals with the challenges involved on roof building gutter maintenance robot design, from the problem statement of secure teleoperated semiautonomous navigation on confined gutter spaces, and the best selection of right mechatronics brush to remove the waste on gutter surface;Two concept design have been tested: Passive Brush with Parallel locomotion (PBP), and Active Brush Axial (ABA). The results on our development are shown, as following: secure robot lifting regulation, simulation environment, HMI to teleoperate, mechatronics design. Finally, some tests on simulations and current prototypes are shown, to validate our proposal, and the conclusion that the ABA design allows to remove until 85% gutter waste, instead of PBP design;furthermore, the ABA allows independent brush rotation velocity, instead of PBP design. © 2023 IEEE.

Electro-hydraulic actuators(EHA)have recently played a signiﬁcant role in modern industrial applications,especially in systems requiring extremely high *** can be explained by EHA’s ability to precisely control the position and force through advanced sensors and innovative control *** of the promising approaches to improve control accuracy for EHA systems is applying classical to modern control algorithms,in which the proportional–inte-gral–derivative(PID)algorithm,fuzzy logic controller,and a hybrid of these methods are popular *** this paper,we developed a novel version of the fuzzy control algorithm and linear feedback control method,namely fuzzy lin-ear feedback control,to improve the control *** achieve the highest performance,weﬁrst designed a mathematical EHA model based on the Matlab/Simulink software packages thanks to the selected parameters,which are similar to a real EHA ***,we respectively applied PID,fuzzy PID(FPID),and fuzzy linear feedback control(FLFC)before comparing them to have a full view of the outstanding advantages of the proposed *** simulation results showed that the proposed FLFC algorithm is approximately 99%and 77%super-ior in performance to the PID and feedback control algorithms,respectively.

Transporting payload with precise swing angles and transfer times poses a challenging task in building construction, which is why gantry crane systems are extensively utilized. Various control strategies, including open-loop and closed-loop systems, have been proposed to tackle this issue. However, most of these controllers rely on a model and parameters specific to the crane system, making the process of modeling and parameter identification complex and time-consuming. To address this challenge, this work presents a practical and simulation control method for automatic gantry cranes, which is evaluated simulation and experimentally. The lab-scale Gantry crane is developed in this work, which consists of mechanical and electrical parts. Proportional Integral and Derivative (PID) and Proportional Derivative (PD) controllers which applied optimization method are implemented in the electrical part of the system. The PID and PD controller applied in controlled the position and swing angle, respectively. The Gradient Decent optimization method is the best optimization method in determining the parameter of the controller, since it has the best simulation performance in the output of the system. The experimental result is developed and compared between simulation and lab-scale Gantry crane hardware implementation part. The performance of experimental results is shown appropriately approaching the performance of the simulation result, with the approximately settling time. © 2023 IEEE.
