The topic of this special issue deals with a subject matter that has been receiving immense attention from various research communities, and not only within the signal processing community. Discusses research and development in the area of the adaption and learning over complex network systems. Extensive research efforts on information processing over graphs exist within other fields such as statistics, computer science, optimization, control, economics, machine learning, biological sciences, and social sciences. Different fields tend to emphasize different aspects and challenges; nevertheless, opportunities for mutual cooperation are abundantly clear, and the role that signal processing plays in this domain is of fundamental importance.

Noise-Optimized Signal Processing for TENG-Based Touch Sensing Using I2C Integrated Circuits

Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) sensors efficiently convert mechanical stimuli into electrical signals, making them well-suited for touch sensing due to their high sensitivity, durability, and self-powered operation. However, conventional signal acquisition methods introduce noise, affecting measurement accuracy. This paper presents a compact, Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C)-based signal processing circuit designed to enhance signal fidelity while minimizing noise interference. The system’s performance was evaluated by analyzing sensor response across varying contact areas (50 mm^² to 576 mm^²) and drop heights, demonstrating a consistently high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) across impact conditions. A high-frequency impact experiment further confirmed the PCB’s ability to distinguish sensor output from noise. Comparison with direct analog acquisition showed a significant enhancement in SNR, validating the PCB’s effectiveness in noise reduction. The system exhibited a rise time of 3.27 milliseconds, ensuring rapid detection of mechanical stimuli. Additionally, the measured latency of 88.9 ms between impact and signal detection falls within acceptable limits for realtime applications. These results establish the proposed PCB-based signal processing method as a practical solution for improving TENG sensor performance in touch-sensing applications requiring high accuracy and noise resilience. The compact, low-power design further enhances its suitability for integration into wearable electronics, interactive surfaces, and space-constrained systems where conventional bulky processing units are impractical. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

A new solution to the inverse position analysis of the redundant serial robot is *** inverse position analysis problem of the redundant serial robot is transformed into a minimization problem and then the optimization method is adopted to solve the nonlinear least square problem with the analytic form of a new Jacobi *** this way,the inverse solution of the redundant serial robot can be searched out quickly under the desired precision when the positions of the three non-collinear end effector points are *** inverse position analysis of the 7R redundant serial robot is illustrated as an example and the simulation results verify the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

X-ray cross-sectional images were used to inspect the brazing joints of heat exchanger rather than penetration images. This paper focused on developing non-destructive testing using X-ray to inspect defects of brazing heat exchanger. The cross-sectional images of brazing joints are obtained by using CT (computerized tomography). Since the penetration images are three-dimensionally superimposed, the cross-sectional images are necessary to have a correct inspection of brazing joints. The performance of testing is an important factor in the image processing. Thus, the image threshold and canny edge detection are used for faster and correct imaging process. Defect inspection of brazing joints is conducted. Brazing joint defect inspection process was programmed by Visual C++ which offers a various image processing methods. The result of this study may help increase interests of non-destructive testing and contribute to the relative industries with improved quality and reliability of heat exchanger. ©ICROS.

Eutectic alloys have garnered significant attention due to their promising mechanical and physical properties,as well as their technological ***,the discovery of eutectic compositionally complex alloys(ECCAs)(*** entropy eutectic alloys)remains a formidable challenge in the vast and intricate compositional space,primarily due to the absence of readily available phase *** address this issue,we have developed an explainable machine learning(ML)framework that integrates conditional variational autoencoder(CVAE)and artificial neutral network(ANN)models,enabling direct generation of *** overcome the prevalent problem of data imbalance encountered in data-driven ECCA design,we have incorporated thermodynamicsderived data descriptors and employed K-means clustering methods for effective data *** our ML framework,we have successfully discovered dual-or even tri-phased ECCAs,spanning from quaternary to senary alloy systems,which have not been previously reported in the *** findings hold great promise and indicate that ourML framework can play a pivotal role in accelerating the discovery of technologically significant ECCAs.

Frequency Characteristics Analysis of Wind–Storage Joint Frequency Regulation system Taking Into Account the State of Storage Battery

With the adjustment of the global energy structure, the power system under the penetration of new energy has developed rapidly. In response to the frequency security issues brought by new energy to the power system and the influence of the state of energy storage batteries on the system frequency, this paper constructs a frequency response model for wind–storage joint frequency regulation to analyze the frequency characteristics of the power system under different operating conditions. On this basis, considering the influence of the state of energy storage batteries on the system frequency, a system model under the scenario of additional load disturbance is built the influence of environmental temperature on the state of energy storage batteries is analyzed to explore the changes in system frequency under high- and low-temperature conditions;finally, the robustness of the system frequency model under different wind speed changes is analyzed. The results show that when the state of energy storage batteries is considered in the wind–storage joint frequency regulation, the system frequency overshoot is reduced by 6.01%, the frequency recovery time is shortened by 3.476 s, and the steady-state frequency error is reduced by 0.004;high- and low-temperature environments will cause the frequency recovery time to be prolonged, with an overshoot of 16.30% in the 45°C high-temperature environment and an overshoot of 52.66% in the −25°C low-temperature environment;the lowest point of the system frequency remains above 49.6 Hz in the wind speed range of 5–15 m/s. Recycling spent lithium-ion batteries(SLIBs)has become essential to preserve the environment and reclaim vital resources for sustainable *** typical SLIBs recycling concentrated on separating valuable components had limitations,including high energy consumption and complicated separation *** work suggests a safe hydrometallurgical process to recover usable metallic cobalt from depleted LiCoO_(2)batteries by utilizing citric acid as leachant and hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent,with ethanol as a selective precipitating *** anode graphite was also recovered and converted to graphene oxide(GO).The above components were directly resynthesized to cobaltintegrated nitrogen-doped graphene(Co@NG).The Co@NG showed a decent activity towards oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)with a half-wave potential of 0.880 V ***,almost similar to Pt/C(0.888 V ***)and with an onset potential of 0.92 V *** metal-nitrogen-carbon(Co-N-C)having the highest nitrogen content has decreased the barrier for ORR since the reaction was enhanced for Co@NG-800,as confirmed by density functional theory(DFT)*** Co@NG cathode catalyst coupled with commercial Pt-Ru/C as anode catalyst exhibits excellent performance for direct methanol fuel cell(DMFC)with a peak power density of 34.7 mW cm^(-2)at a discharge current density of120 m A cm^(-2)and decent stability,indicating the promising utilization of spent battery materials in DMFC ***,lithium was recovered from supernatant as lithium carbonate by coprecipitation *** work avoids sophisticated elemental separation by utilizing SLIBs for other renewable energy applications,lowering the environmental concerns associated with recycling.

Sub-micron expansion process of micro-bar such as probes has been observed when irradiated by a polarized Ultra Violet (UV) laser. Influences of laser polarization, laser fluence, micro-bar size, its crystallographic orientation and heat have been investigated. It could show that the expansion is not influenced by a thermal cause, rather, suggested that the cause comes from the change of crystal lattice distance.

An electromagnetic tip-tilt-piston micromirror with a large stroke is presented. This research introduced a novel actuation structure, based on a spring made from conductive metallic glass with excellent mechanical properties. For the first time, two functional elements, an electromagnetic actuation element and a mechanical support structure, were successfully integrated into a single-layer spring, made of metallic glass. With this novel actuator, the performance of stroke and angle controllability is remarkably improved. The fabricated device can achieve a 418 ~\mu \text{m} static stroke in upward direction. Furthermore, the tilting angles of the micromirror can be controlled with maximum accuracy of 0.05°/mA. The device is robust and has miniature dimensions, comparable or smaller, than existing electromagnetic micromirror dimensions published in literature. The displacement values of the micromirror are larger, compared to state-of-the-art electromagnetic micromirrors, which usually have strokes under 300 ~\mu \text{m} and do not have angle control mechanism. In spectrometer applications, the micromirror with a large stroke and controllable angle allows spectrometers to achieve higher resolution. These special qualities of the micromirror, will provide efficient, and reliable spatial light modulation required for interferometer applications. [2023-0104] © 1992-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, we consider a hybrid system consisting of a motion stage that exhibits, from a control point-of-view, position-dependent dynamics as a result of varying sensor configurations. A scheduled controller design is proposed that is intuitive for control engineers as all individual filters can be obtained using classical frequency-domain loop-shaping techniques thereby connecting to the industrial motion control practice. Moreover, data-based graphical conditions are provided in the frequency-domain under which closed-loop stability can be verified irrespective of how the switching between the controllers occurs in time. The effectiveness of the proposed scheduling technique, as a way to improve both transient and steady-state performance compared to the current state-of-the-art industrial control solution, is demonstrated by means of experiments on a high-precision industrial motion stage. © 2015, IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control) Hosting by Elsevier Ltd.
