The steady-state analysis of electrical circuits is frequently done by means of phasors. This paper focuses on the use of multiport elements with two-dimensional multibond as representation of the real and imaginary part of a phasor. This set of two-dimensional multibonds forms, together with elements that are adapted likewise, a so-called phasor bond graph model. A procedure is presented to derive a symbolic function of the steadystate of a user-defined output from a phasor bond graph model. The application of a phasor bond graph model in power flow studies of an electrical power system are presented as an example.

Education service is human activity where a coach of a service provider gives a learner of a service receiver the value of knowledge and skill. In several fields where pedagogies and educational contents are well systemized, the service productivity has been enhanced in point of view of time and cost thanks to a classroom-based teaching and an e-learning approach. On the other hand in case of a skill education that is usually associated with body motion, above-mentioned orthodox educational styles are not effective by the following reasons: 1) the skilled motion itself is ambiguous and an extraction of the explicit knowledge is difficult, 2) for this reason it is difficult to communicate between the coacher and learner about the skill, and 3) customer royalty cannot be increased well since their trust relationship and customer satisfaction are not promoted. Therefore to improve this situation, the present authors first simplified 'value of experience' in both sides of coacher and learner into a 'satisfying sense,' and then try to evaluate the sense through applicable example. In this paper, the concept and analysis procedure are introduced with a practical example of caregiver's skilled motion based on "No Lifting Policy".

The purpose of this study is to present the preliminary steps in facial expressions recognition with a new version of an expressive social robotic head. So, in a first phase, our main goal was to reach a minimum level of emotional expressiveness in order to obtain nonverbal communication between the robot and human by building six basic facial expressions. To evaluate the facial expressions, the robot was used in some preliminary user studies, among children and adults.

Multi-material joints are implemented in many fields, including automotive and aerospace in-dustries. Adhesive bonding technique allows for joining components made of different materials, which facilitates the implementation of lightweight materials in multi-material structures. In this study the shear strength of single lap, adhesively bonded joints was examined at room and high temperature (110°C). In the paper the influence of elevated temperature on epoxy adhesive joints in multi - materials structures is presented. A sensitivity of shear strength on material type of ad-herents in adhesively bonded joints is considered. Prediction of the state of joints and knowledge on their degradation process are important for structural health monitoring of structures with adhe-sive joints. For the purposes of research, specimens consisting of adherents made of various materials were used (following were involved: Aluminum alloy, CFRP and abrasive resistant steel). Studies have demonstrated, that applied epoxy adhesive considerably weakens at elevated temperature and it was observed that material type of adherents has a large influence on the shear strength of adhe-sively bonded joints.

This paper presents a systematic procedure to design a robust gain scheduled Q-parametrization Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy controller for non-linear magnetic bearing system with imbalance. First, a mathematical model of non-linear magnetic bearing model is presented. Second, the system is linearized around various operating points to overcome the model non-linearity by increasing the operating envelop. Third, the Qparametrization observer based stabilizing controller with TS fuzzy systems is explained which combines both the intelligence of fuzzy systems and robustness of Q-parametrization. Forth, the proposed controller is applied to a non-linear magnetic bearing system. Finally, the simulation results are presented. The results manifest the ability of proposed controller to overcome the model non-linearity by increasing the dynamic operating range up-to more than 80% of gap length and reject imbalance disturbances under different speeds.

The paper presents automated estimation techniques for robot parameters through system identification, for both PID control and future implementation of intelligent control laws, with the aim of designing the experimental model in a 3D virtual reality for testing and validating control laws in the joints of NAO humanoid robots. After identifying the maximum likelihood model, the PID amplification factors are optimized and introduced into the Unity environment as a script for controlling the joint. The program used for identifying PID parameters for the NAO robot is developed using the virtual reality platform Unity 3D and integrated into the Graphical Station component of the VIPRO Platform for the control of versatile, intelligent, portable robots. The obtained results, validated in the virtual reality environment, have led to the implementation of the PID identification and optimization component on the VIPRO Platform.

In electromagnetic suspension (EMS) systems, faults in the sensors and actuators might result in instability in the system, and could even lead to catastrophic system failures. Thus, it is essential to improve the system reliability and safety. However, since EMS systems are highly nonlinear and open-loop unstable, such systems require further investigation for fault tolerant performance. Therefore, in order to preserve the stability of EMS system after occurring sensor and actuator fault, a fault tolerant controller using virtual sensor/actuator approach is investigated in this work. Control scheme has been verified by simulating a single-axis two-magnet suspension system subjected to failures of the sensor and actuator.

This paper presents a case study for an exhaust fan rotor made from elements assembled through bolted joints. For this design of the rotor and normal operating conditions the fan achieve the field of resonance, conducting to the failure of rotor bearing assembly, and finally of the entire fan. The finite element method (FEM) is used to study the stress, strain and natural frequencies of the fan rotor. The FEM analysis proves that a rotor with welded construction eliminates the disadvantage of the resonance phenomenon occurrence in the range of the normal operating speed.
