Sustainability is a major subject for society and industries. Circularity seems to be the next step in this development. Regarding the space industry, implementing sustainability poses different challenges, and many pieces of knowledge and technologies are still missing: to capture a spacecraft in space, the infrastructure to process it, the policy on sustainable space, etc. Nevertheless, those are emerging with risk-taking and non-traditional satellite development and management methods such as Lean satellites. The space community must foresee the requirements to reuse a spacecraft after its end of life. It should answer questions such as how can one reuse a spacecraft? Is it even possible? Can the space industry use findings from other industries to implement reusability? For example, can we implement solar panel end-of-life processes used on Earth in space? This paper will study the reusability of solar panels since they are a common part of most satellites and are composed of rare materials. The capability to reuse them in space might be a first step for space circularity since it will maximize the value of a spacecraft mission to its customers by giving value to something considered nowadays as debris. The concept of reusing spacecraft solar panels can be integrated into a Lean satellite project. Nonetheless, reusing solar panels in space requires understanding their degradation due to the space environment, investigating the applicability of Earth solar panels' end-of-life processes in space, and their potential performances after those processes. It requires also to design reusable solar panels either by making them easier to reprocess or by making them transferable from one spacecraft to another spacecraft. Some missions such as the Hubble Space Telescope, i.e., HST, mission present reusability characteristics in their design. Micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) microphones are sound sensors that are widely used in modern mobile and Internet-of-Things devices. Their market share is rapidly increasing due to their small size, excellent performance characteristics, and low power consumption. However, studies have focused on improving module performance without any spatial considerations. Most voice recognition devices have a small internal chamber in which a sensor is installed. A chamber with an open hole serves as a resonator, which alters the MEMS microphone's characteristics. The aim of this study is to improve voice quality by using a digital filter to compensate for the effect of the chamber. This will allow the identification of frequency-response compensation characteristics and the acquisition of base data that can be used for product design. © 2021 The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers

Grape is highly esteemed as a significant agricultural crop in Bangladesh. Plant diseases primarily result from the presence of pathogens and pest insects, leading to a significant decline in productivity if not properly addressed. The fundamental aim of this research is to employ a streamlined CNN-SVM architecture, utilizing deep learning techniques, to accurately categorize grape leaves into three distinct disease classes and one healthy class. The proposed model surpasses the accuracy of the previously trained transfer learning models VGG-16 and VGG-19 while having approximately $257\times$ to $267\times$ times fewer parameters (0.537 M). On average, the proposed model achieves a classification accuracy of 99.18%, which is significantly higher than the 93.42% and 91.94% achieved by the transfer learning models, respectively. With a precision, recall, and F1 score close to 99%, the suggested model provides excellent results. The model’s outstanding performance is further validated by its remarkable Area Under Curve (AUC) score of 99.98%. In addition to using less disc space (about 6 MB), the suggested model because of being lightweight shows a significant decrease in parameters. To visually display the disease identified by the proposed model, a transparent AI methodology has been utilized, specifically the Gradient Weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM) technique. To better understand which area was responsible for the classification, a heatmap has been created.

Virtual and blended international collaboration activities, including Collaborative Online International Learning and Blended Intensive Programmes, offer inclusive and sustainable alternatives to traditional mobility programmes. Effective training programmes for teachers and administrative staff are indispensable to enhance the higher education institutions’ capability to implement similar activities. This paper introduces an online training module aimed at providing higher education teachers and staff with competencies to implement virtual and blended modalities of international collaboration. The module is designed according to the principles of the Self-Determination Theory and the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. The paper explores whether the design of the module is effective in creating a valuable learning experience and what its strengths and areas for improvement are. Results were derived from 150 responses to the final survey questions completed by participants who completed the online training module, analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. Findings show that the autonomy, structure, and involvement support were perceived as effective in achieving the desired learning outcomes. The results offer valuable insights into the design of training modules for higher education staff to develop international collaboration modalities. © 2025 Proceedings of the International Conferences on Mobile Learning 2025 and Educational Technologies 2025. In this paper, we developed a power line communication (PLC) system design, power measurement sensor design, light sensor design, temperature sensor design, and the integration of these components into an advanced sensor network to allow for energy metering and environment monitoring. A power measurement sensor was implemented through a current and voltage sensing circuitry was interfaced multi-plug power adapter to allow for non-invasive measurement of power usage of appliances. The sensors produce signals corresponding to the drawn voltage and current, which are then sampled and processed to estimate power usage. The PLC communications operated at an average accuracy of 95%. The power measurement sensor had an accuracy of 92%, which made it appropriate for home user estimations. The light sensor had an accuracy of between 91-97%, which was suitable for home lighting measurement. © 2022 IEEE.

Searching and Accessing files in a computer device is one of the most important and basic task performed by the computer today. Each Operating System has a dedicated search bar for this, But however, In a network encompassing a multitude of systems, retrieving a specific file from various systems can pose a formidable task. Put differently, users frequently find it challenging to recollect the precise location where they've stored a particular file. This undertaking offers a user-friendly application interface wherein the user inputs the file's name, subsequently receiving both the precise file path and the IP address of the computer device within the network as output. We can access the file by clicking on the path generated. Accessing Files from multiple systems in a network is quite difficult and a Slow process and there are not many Applications which serve this purpose. We aim to overcome this problem by providing an efficient Trie Data Structure based Searching Algorithm to search and access files in a network from any node in the Local Area Network.

Cryptography is commonly employed to ensure secure data transfer via unsecure communication networks. With the rising need for picture transmission confidentiality and privacy, an efficient encryption approach becomes vital. The architectural flow of the newly created technique is implied in the proposal. Based on Cryptographic Method for Digital Picture Security, the design of an efficient Modified Elephant Herd Optimization-based Advanced Encryption Standard (MEHO-AES) is presented. The suggested MEHO-AES approach employs multilevel discrete Cosine transform (DCT) for image decomposition, with the input picture divided into RGB components for examining the fundamental colors of all image sections. Moreover, the AES encryption technology is used throughout the encryption procedure. A smart city environment utilizes different types of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, i.e., sensors and actuators, to collect and analyze millions of data to manage assets, resources, and services efficiently to improve the quality of life. However, the data collection process is one of the most challenging tasks for smart cities. To meet the requirements of smart city applications, a robust and efficient data collection process is needed to collect data from IoT devices then deliver it to data centers. This paper proposes an end-to-end data collection architecture from IoT devices for different smart city applications, such as smart buildings, transportation, smart grids, healthcare, and others, through advanced communication technologies and protocols and database management approaches. The proposed architecture includes five main components, (1) IoT Networks, (2) Server-side MQTT Interfacing, (3) Server-side Streaming, (4) NoSQL Database, and (5) Web Server. Finally, this paper provides a case study to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed architecture and discuss each design component in detail. © 2022 IEEE.

In this research we aim to develop a computer-aided diagnostic system (CAD) for breast ultrasound imaging to enhance the early detection of breast cancer. CAD tools aid physicians in the diagnostic process leading to early detection and treatment of breast cancer. The proposed CAD tool comprises three stages, the first is enhancement of breast ultrasound imaging by applying custom segmentation deep learning architectures [U-Net, SK-U-Net, RDA-U-Net] to enhance the isolation of masses in Ultrasound images, then generation of new ultrasound images by employing Generative Adversarial Networks [DAGAN, DCGAN] to overcome data limitation in available data-sets, and the last stage is the detection and classification of breast cancer masses by a CNN model. The enhancement stage shows promising results with accuracy of 98 % overall accuracy, 92 % overall precision, and 85 % overall *** Relevance: Breast cancer is one of the deadly diseases in the world. The earlier the detection the higher the chances of recovery. Thus a CAD tool that facilitates the screening process of ultrasound images will aid physicians in the early detection and diagnosis of the disease.
