The control of temperature in welding is essential to maintain the quality of metal joints. Due to current fluctuations and instrument errors, the quality of joint may be affected. The excess of temperature or molten stage may leads to change the effect of micro structure. An automatic temperature sensing system is needed to eliminate this problem. It is fulfilled through Internet of Things (IoT) based temperature sensing on molten metal in welding. The temperature sensors, micro controller, LAN/Wireless communications and server are used to enhance the automatic temperature sensing on molten metal in welding process. The experimentation is conducted on arc welding of mild steel. The quality characteristics and optimization studied through Taguchi method.

The use of the MathML language made possible to improve the accessibility of mathematics for blind or low-vision persons in digital media. Synthetic speech technologies have advanced significantly using MathML, however, the speech synthesizers' standard reading style is still not suitable for mathematics. Making mathematical reading of the speech synthesizers more natural and expressive is still a challenge. The creation of models to produce the appropriate prosody in the synthesized speech of math content is therefore necessary, as shown in previous research. This article presents a proposal for a model to improve prosody in the synthesized speech of mathematical expressions based on MathML. A corpus of mathematical expressions spoken by Mathematics teachers was created to support the model's development. The Fujisaki intonation model was adopted for intonation control, accent and phrase commands have been extracted from the corpus, and some adjustments have been made to manipulate prosodic parameters in the speech of mathematical expression in correlation with the MathML tree; additionally, a pattern of pauses control is being created.

Auto-stereoscopic displays using slanted optical plates have inherent subpixel rasterization compared to the normal 2D displays, and mappings between subpixel positions and multi-view indices even vary according to the number of views and angles of slanted optical plates. In this paper, we derive a simple but generalized formula for subpixel mappings from a naïve ray-tracing technique on RGB stripe type panels. To verify the proposed algorithm, our proto-type auto-stereoscopic display using parallax barriers with a slanted angle was used and examined in the experiment. The proposed algorithm is expected to leverage converting multi-view 3D inputs to various types of auto-stereoscopic contents in real time. © 2020 IEEE.

We apply the chaos supremacy of laser chaos system to the high stabilization of THz waves. Stability was demonstrated by down converting the optical beats between laser longitudinal modes in the THz domain to the radio frequency domain and comparing a conventional free running CW laser diode to a chaotically oscillating laser diode. Because of their exceptional stability, chaotically oscillating lasers are attractive options for optical pump sources in terahertz time-domain spectroscopy systems. © 2023 IEEE.

End-to-end Graph-constrained Vectorized Floorplan Generation with Panoptic Refinement

The automatic generation of floorplans given user inputs has great potential in architectural design and has recently been explored in the computer vision community. However, the majority of existing methods synthesize floorplans in the format of rasterized images, which are difficult to edit or customize. In this paper, we aim to synthesize floorplans as sequences of 1-D vectors, which eases user interaction and design customization. To generate high fidelity vectorized floorplans, we propose a novel two-stage framework, including a draft stage and a multi-round refining stage. In the first stage, we encode the room connectivity graph input by users with a graph convolutional network (GCN), then apply an autoregressive transformer network to generate an initial floorplan sequence. To polish the initial design and generate more visually appealing floorplans, we further propose a novel panoptic refinement network (PRN) composed of a GCN and a transformer network. The PRN takes the initial generated sequence as input and refines the floorplan design while encouraging the correct room connectivity with our proposed geometric loss. We have conducted extensive experiments on a real-world floorplan dataset, and the results show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance under different settings and evaluation metrics. Unsupervised domain adaptation person re-identification (Re-ID) aims to identify pedestrian images within an unlabeled target domain with an auxiliary labeled source-domain dataset. Many existing works attempt to recover reliable identity information by considering multiple homogeneous networks. And take these generated labels to train the model in the target domain. However, these homogeneous networks identify people in approximate subspaces and equally exchange their knowledge with others or their mean net to improve their ability, inevitably limiting the scope of available knowledge and putting them into the same mistake. This paper proposes a Dual-level Asymmetric Mutual Learning method (DAML) to learn discriminative representations from a broader knowledge scope with diverse embedding spaces. Specifically, two heterogeneous networks mutually learn knowledge from asymmetric subspaces through the pseudo label generation in a hard distillation manner. The knowledge transfer between two networks is based on an asymmetric mutual learning manner. The teacher network learns to identify both the target and source domain while adapting to the target domain distribution based on the knowledge of the student. Meanwhile, the student network is trained on the target dataset and employs the ground-truth label through the knowledge of the teacher. Extensive experiments in Market-1501, CUHK-SYSU, and MSMT17 public datasets verified the superiority of DAML over state-of-the-arts. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Photometric stereo recovers the surface normals of an object from multiple images with varying shading cues, i.e., modeling the relationship between surface orientation and intensity at each pixel. Photometric stereo prevails in superior per-pixel resolution and fine reconstruction details. However, it is a complicated problem because of the non-linear relationship caused by non-Lambertian surface reflectance. Recently, various deep learning methods have shown a powerful ability in the context of photometric stereo against non-Lambertian surfaces. This paper provides a comprehensive review of existing deep learning-based calibrated photometric stereo methods utilizing orthographic cameras and directional light sources. We first analyze these methods from different perspectives, including input processing, supervision, and network architecture. We summarize the performance of deep learning photometric stereo models on the most widely-used benchmark data set. This demonstrates the advanced performance of deep learning-based photometric stereo methods. Finally, we give suggestions and propose future research trends based on the limitations of existing models. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Surprising occurrences like temperature variations, humidity shifts, and vibrations might devalue the products being carried. ICT must be used to stop unwelcome occurrences from happening and fix some problems with the delivery of products. Making it possible to monitor the conditions of storage and transportation of products is one of the main issues. The IoT offers opportunities for tracking and locating goods from point of origin to point of destination and for monitoring traffic conditions. IoT-based solutions make it possible to identify the circumstances around certain delivery procedure abnormalities, including their timing, location, and cause. Additionally, these systems offer the ability to inform the client, transportation providers, or other participants to request urgent help. Businesses may enhance their product portfolio, improve the competitiveness of their business, and enhance route travel times and transportation circumstances. As a result, IoT technology can be advantageous to all parties involved in the logistics chain. The potential of IoT applications for supply chain and logistics management applications, such as vehicle fleet surveillance, commodities control, monitoring location-based assistance, etc., are presented in this article.
