This paper describes the design and development of data retrieval system using near field communication (NFC) protocol to read and transfer data from the device storage panel located at the recycle bin. In existing systems, data are manually collected from the storage device using the SD card and sent for upload to regional workstation of the data center, which is located at the central server. The device automatically establishes the NFC connection with the recycle bin panel and once the connection is established, data will automatically be transferred to the device and the current data storage in the recycle bin will be erased. Next, the collected data will be uploaded to the server through regional workstation.

User authentication protocols ensure the security of user communication and data transmission over insecure networks. Among the various current authenticated mechanisms, the password- based user authentication, because of its convenience and efficiency, is the most widely employed mechanism in electronic applications. Even though the password is endowed with the advantageous properties of simplicity and human memory, it can easily succumb to attacks that employ brute force, such as offline guessing attacks that various existing schemes suffer from, or to spoofing and impersonation problems that occur once the password is hacked. Therefore, this paper intends to investigate the dynamic password-based user authentication scheme, where the characteristic of a dynamic password disables attackers from catching the correct password each time and prevent the attackers from guessing the users’ passwords. Besides, this scheme can also resist common attacks, such as replay attacks, stolen-verifier attacks, server spoofing attacks, and impersonation attacks, among others. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group.

In view of the high computational complexity of K-anonymous data privacy-preserving methods and excessive loss of original information caused by generalization operations,a privacy-preserving transformation method was proposed in this paper,which combined the set pair analysis theory for uncertain information processing and the cloud model with advantages in converting qualitative concepts into quantitative *** information has been transformed into fuzzy semantics for *** distinction and reserve degree are designed to reflect differences and connections between original information and fuzzy semantic information after conversion,according to different characteristics of numerical sensitive attributes and categorical sensitive *** and analysis show that the proposed method can achieve good privacy protection of sensitive information and has higher clustering similarity and data availability.

Children with autism have a hard time both with expressing their emotions, and with understanding the emotions of others. As the population of children with autism increases, it is crucial we create effective therapeutic programs that will improve their communication skills. We present an interactive robotic system that delivers emotional and social behaviors for multi-sensory therapy for children with autism spectrum disorders. Our framework includes emotion-based robotic gestures and facial expressions, as well as vision and audio-based monitoring system for quantitative measurement of the interaction. © 2016 IEEE.

Electronic and optical properties of vacancy defects in transition metal dichalcogenides

A detailed first-principle study has been performed to evaluate the electronic and optical properties of single-layer (SL) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) (MX2;M= transition metal such as Mo, W and X= S, Se, Te), in the presence of vacancy defects (VDs). Defects usually play an important role in tailoring electronic, optical, and magnetic properties of semiconductors. We consider three types of VDs in SL TMDCs i) X-vacancy, X2-vacancy, and iii) M-vacancy. We show that VDs lead to localized defect states (LDS) in the band structure, which in turn give rise to sharp transitions in in-plane and out-of-plane optical susceptibilities, ξ and ξ. The effects of spin orbit coupling (SOC) are also considered. We find that SOC splitting in LDS is directly related to the atomic number of the transition metal atoms. Apart from electronic and optical properties we also find magnetic signatures (local magnetic moment of ∼ μB) in MoSe2 in the presence of Mo vacancy, which breaks the time reversal symmetry and therefore lifts the Kramers degeneracy. We show that a simple qualitative tight binding model (TBM), involving only the hopping between atoms surrounding the vacancy with an on-site SOC term, is sufficient to capture the essential features of LDS. In addition, the existence of the LDS can be understood from the solution of the 2D Dirac Hamiltonian by employing infinite mass boundary conditions. In order to provide a clear description of the optical absorption spectra, we use group theory to derive the optical selection rules between LDS for both X and Xτ. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. We here demonstrate multi-chip heterogeneous integration of microfabricated extracellular recording electrodes with neural amplifiers, highlighting a path to scaling electrode channel counts without the need for more complex monolithic integration. We characterize the noise and impedance performance of the heterogeneously integrated neural recording electrodes, and analyze the design parameters that enable the low-voltage neural input signals to co-exist with the high-frequency and high-voltage digital outputs on the same silicon substrate. This heterogeneous integration approach can enable future scaling efforts for microfabricated neural probes, and provides a design path for modular, fast, and independent scaling innovations in recording electrodes and neural amplifiers.

Area restriction for data center using authentication should have high accuracy for access control, use less time for verification, and can handle a huge number of loads. This paper proposes a discrete cosine transform (DCT) with embedded watermark using QR Code for authentication of data center. In a traditional QR Code, the plaintext is converted to the image. However, the watermarking based DCT provides more security in authentication since the ciphertext is converted to the image. The experiment tested with 100 users, each user is authenticated for 5 times in two data centers. The results show that the system has high accuracy at 98.8%.

In this paper, the problem of missing diacritic marks in most of dialectal Arabic written resources is addressed. Our aim is to implement a scalable and extensible platform for automatically retrieving the diacritic marks for undiacritized dialectal Arabic texts. Different rule-based and statistical techniques are proposed. These include: morphological analyzer-based, maximum likelihood estimate, and statistical n-gram models. The proposed platform includes helper tools for text preprocessing and encoding conversion. Diacritization accuracy of each technique is evaluated in terms of Diacritic Error Rate (DER) and Word Error Rate (WER). The approach trains several n-gram models on different lexical units. A data pool of both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) data along with Dialectal Arabic data was used to train the models.
