This paper aims to studies the opinion, attitude and compliance of cyclists who ride a bicycle in Chiang Mai city, Thailand, with a Bicycle-Helmet Signal (BHS). The purpose of BHS is to help decreasing accidents for cyclists. The device automatically shows turning signal when cyclists lean their head to the left or right-hand side. The findings are based on a sample size of 30 which were taken from the local cyclists. Two groups have been separated to test the confidence, the group of cyclists using BHS and the other cyclists who use the same road with the first group. The results of five sections of questionnaires have been analyzed and show the quality of BHS. The details of opinions, attitudes and compliance are valuable for the design of BHS which provides safety on the road. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2015.

AIM:To develop a novel 3-dimensional(3D) virtual hepatectomy simulation software,Liversim,to visualize the real-time deformation of the ***:We developed a novel real-time virtual hepatectomy simulation software program called Liversim. The software provides 4 basic functions:viewing 3D models from arbitrary directions,changing the colors and opacities of the models,deforming the models based on user interaction,and incising the liver parenchyma and intrahepatic vessels based on user operations. From April 2010 through 2013,99 patients underwent virtual hepatectomies that used the conventional software program SYNAPSE VINCENT preoperatively. Between April 2012 and October 2013,11 patients received virtual hepatectomies using the novel software program Liversim; these hepatectomies were performed both preoperatively and at the same that the actual hepatectomy was performed in an operating room. The perioperative outcomes were analyzed between the patients for whom SYNAPSE VINCENT was used and those for whom Liversim wasused. Furthermore,medical students and surgical residents were asked to complete questionnaires regarding the new ***:There were no obvious discrepancies(i.e.,the emergence of branches in the portal vein or hepatic vein or the depth and direction of the resection line) between our simulation and the actual surgery during the resection process. The median operating time was 304 min(range,110 to 846) in the VINCENT group and 397 min(range,232 to 497) in the Liversim group(P = 0.30). The median amount of intraoperative bleeding was 510 m L(range,18 to 5120) in the VINCENT group and 470 m L(range,130 to 1600) in the Liversim group(P = 0.44). The median postoperative stay was 12 d(range,6 to 100) in the VINCENT group and 13 d(range,9 to 21) in the Liversim group(P = 0.36). There were no significant differences in the preoperative outcomes between the two groups. Liversim was not found to be clinically inferior to SYNAPSE VINCENT. Both

Shop windows are the paradigmatic design environment for attracting and holding people's attention. They also provide a handy mirror in which people can check their appearance. The 12-way mirror project plays with this duality by building and testing an interactive installation that tracks people's reflections as they look into a shop window. Three versions of the installation are compared, one with static mirrors, one with moving mirrors and one with face-tracking mirrors. These were tested over a 5 day period in the window display of an Eyewear shop on a busy commercial road in East London. Data were collected on how many people looked in the window, for how long and what they did while looking. The results show that while movement attracts people's attention and stops them, their own reflection is most effective in keeping their interest.

With the proliferation of wearable sensors, we have access to rich information regarding human movement that gives us insights into our daily activities like never before. In a sensor rich environment, it is desirable to build systems that are aware of human interactions by studying contextual information. In this paper, we attempt to quantify one such contextual cue - the connectedness of physical movement. Inspired by the Semblance of Typology Entrainments, we estimate the connectedness of trained dancers as observed from inertial sensors, using a diverse set of techniques such as quaternion correlation, approximate entropy, Fourier temporal pyramids, and discrete cosine transform. Preliminary experiments show that it is possible to robustly estimate connectedness that is invariant to frequency, amplitude, noise or time lag.

This article describes the motivation, design, and progress of the Journal of Open Source Software (JOSS). JOSS is a free and open-access journal that publishes articles describing research software. It has the dual goals of improving the quality of the software submitted and providing a mechanism for research software developers to receive credit. While designed to work within the current merit system of science, JOSS addresses the dearth of rewards for key contributions to science made in the form of software. JOSS publishes articles that encapsulate scholarship contained in the software itself, and its rigorous peer review targets the software components: functionality, documentation, tests, continuous integration, and the license. A JOSS article contains an abstract describing the purpose and functionality of the software, references, and a link to the software archive. The article is the entry point of a JOSS submission, which encompasses the full set of software artifacts. Submission and review proceed in the open, on GitHub. Editors, reviewers, and authors work collaboratively and openly. Unlike other journals, JOSS does not reject articles requiring major revision;while not yet accepted, articles remain visible and under review until the authors make adequate changes (or withdraw, if unable to meet requirements). Once an article is accepted, JOSS gives it a digital object identifier (DOI), deposits its metadata in Crossref, and the article can begin collecting citations on indexers like Google Scholar and other services. Authors retain copyright of their JOSS article, releasing it under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. In its first year, starting in May 2016, JOSS published 111 articles, with more than 40 additional articles under review. Wove paper, made on a papermaking screen or mold having a surface of smooth tightly woven wires, was the predominant paper type used for printing in the twentieth century. To aid in the study and classification of fine art prints on wove paper, the present work compares the results of five different image processing approaches for characterizing surface texture. Using a collection of popular wove papers, a reference dataset of raking light close-up images was assembled. Five research teams undertook their own processing strategies to detect affinities among the paper samples. Their success in identifying similarity groupings are reported. © 2016 IEEE.

For the problem of compute nodes load unbalance leads to the overload node impact VM performance and the underload node waste electrical energy. Dynamic VM consolidation is an efficient approach for improving the utilization of servers and reducing energy costs. In this paper, we introduce dynamic consolidation into OpenStack and implement AMVM based on OpenStack. AMVM collect and analyze all performance data of VM and compute node in OpenStack. Then AMVM automatically schedules VM live migrate to the most appropriate node according to the real-time load of all compute nodes. Then we use hybrid-copy instead of pre-copy in AMVM to improve the efficiency of VM live migration. Finally, we analyze the performance of hybrid-copy, hybrid-copy can reduce page faults compared with post-copy and reduce total data transferred compared with pre-copy. © 2016 SERSC.

Process fragmentation provides the basis for re-usability and process improvement. Various re-searchers have already introduced different definitions for what constitutes a reasonable process fragment, and have offered algorithmic support for identifying such fragments. As we will show in this paper, some of these definitions suffer from ambiguity or imprecision. Therefore, the objectives of this paper are twofold: first, we provide an ontological assessment of the various process fragment definitions based on the well-known Bunge’s Ontology and its process representational model, GPM. On this basis, we then extract the most important features of these definitions in order to formalize a precise definition for process fragments and propose a precise and non-ambiguous definition: morphological fragmentation. We present our work through a case study and report on our observations. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015

Digiti Sonus v2 is a new interface for fingerprint data sonification using audience's biometric data and apply their hand motions to control and modify their own audiovisual contents. This interface explores users' fingerprint data as personalized artistic materials, and allows them to rearrange and compare the data with others as pieces of a sonic puzzle by hand motion. This work expands the possibility of creating diverse audiovisual results based on users' interaction, and enhances easier and more intuitive interaction with hand motion using short-range depth camera.

In this paper we present a semi-automatic technique for moving objects segmentation and tracking. Clustering as a segmentation method has been used for many applications. The problem of clustering in many segmentation methods is a need of high performance and low computational cost. We proposed the Fuzzy C-Means method for clustering moving objects. To evaluate the performance, we compare FCM against K-Means and SOM algorithm. Semi-automatic used by human for create image ground truth for measure performance by MSE and PSNR. Based on experiment the MSE of Fuzzy C-Means is lower than K-Means and SOM. Also PSNR of FCM is higher than K-Means and SOM. The result proved that Fuzzy C-Means is promising to cluster pixels in moving objects segmentation.
