The subject paper presents new approach to response data compaction of multi-output digital circuits using two-input nonlinear logic with the objective of designing zero-aliasing (aliasing-free) space compression hardware for single stuck-line faults, extending well-known concept of conventional switching theory, viz. that of compatibility relation as used in the minimization of incompletely specified sequential machines. For a pair of response data outputs of the circuit under test (CUT), the method introduces the notion of fault detection compatibility and conditional fault detection compatibility (conditional upon some other pair of response data outputs being simultaneously fault detection compatible) with respect to two-input AND/NAND and/or OR/NOR logic. The process is illustrated with the design details of space compressors for the International Symposium on Circuits and Systems or ISCAS 85 combinational and ISCAS 89 full-scan sequential benchmark circuits using simulation programs ATALANTA, FSIM and COMPACTEST, though, because of space constraints, only some partial results on simulation on ISCAS 89 full-scan sequential benchmark circuits using ATALANTA are provided here.

Wheel-running type moving robot has the restriction on the moving range caused by obstacles or stairs. In order to solve this weakness, the authors decided to develop a moving robot using airship. their airship robot moves by recognizing arrow marks on the path. To have the airship robot recognize arrow marks, the authors used edge-based template matching. To control propeller units, the authors used PID and PD controller. As an experiment results, the airship robot can move along the marks and can go up and down the stairs. It is shown the possibility that airship robot can become a robot which can move at wide range facilities.

Using the animations video of teaching materials is an effective learning method. However, the authors thought that more effective learning method is to produce the teaching video by learners themselves. The learners who act as the producer must learn and understand well to produce and present video of teaching materials to others. The purpose of this study is to propose the PBL (project based learning) technique by co-producing video of IT (information technology) teaching materials. the authors used the T2V player to produce the video based on TVML a TV program description language. By proposed method, the authors have assigned the learners to produce the animations video for "National Examination for Information Processing Technicians (IPA examination)" in Japan, in order to get them learns various knowledge and skill on IT field. Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) slow start degrades TCP performance under conditions of long-distance and high end-to-end latency, i.e., inherent characteristics of wide area networks (WANs). In this paper, we propose a new TCP slow start algorithm for WANs, called Adaptive Fast Start (AFStart), which incorporates an inline available bandwidth measurement over TCP technique into TCP slow start to set the slow start threshold adaptively and adjusts the congestion window intelligently. The performance of AFStart is evaluated through simulations using the dumb-bell topology and parking-lot topology by applying AFStart to Fast TCP. The simulation results show that AFStart can ramp up the congestion window from its initial value to the slow start threshold more quickly and smoothly than standard slow start, and AFStart achieves higher network link utilization and TCP throughput during the slow start than Fast TCP.

Data redundancy elimination (DRE), also known as data de-duplication, reduces the data amount to be transferred or stored by identifying and eliminating both intra-object and inter-object duplicated data elements. It is one of the key content delivery acceleration techniques over wide area networks (WANs) to reduce delivery latency and bandwidth consumptions by reducing the amount of data to be transferred. Deploying DRE at the end hosts maximizes the bandwidth savings and latency reductions, because the amount of content sent to the destination hosts is minimized. However, standard DRE used to identify redundant content chunks is very expensive in terms of memory and processing capability especially on resource constrained hosts. By analyzing the web application traffic traces, we find out that some types of contents have more redundant contents than others. Thus, it is possible to apply DRE selectively and opportunistically on those contents with more redundant data elements than other content types to save the memory and processing resources at the hosts. In this paper, we propose content-type based selective DRE (SDRE), which deploys DRE selectively on the contents which have the most opportunities for redundant content identification. We explore the benefits of deploying SDRE on smartphone traffic traces. The results show that SDRE can achieve almost the same bandwidth savings as that of standard DRE with less computation and smaller memory.

To research the influence of kinematic pair clearances on the dynamic performance of eccentric swinging sheet transfer mechanism used in Sheet-fed offset J2108, a dynamic model was established based on the clearances' characteristics and the continuous contact hypothesisConsequently, the dynamic characteristics of sheet transfer mechanism's output can be researched quantitatively. The results indicate that sheet transfer mechanism's dynamic response appears strong nonlinear characteristics while considering kinematic pair clearances, which seriously affects the sheet transfer mechanism's stability and precision. Therefore, the study on the nonlinear dynamic response of sheet transfer mechanism can provide foundation to improve the stability.
