Whole heart segmentation (WHS) has significant clinical value for cardiac anatomy, modeling, and analysis of cardiac function. This study aims to address the WHS accuracy on cardiac CT images, as well as the fast inference speed and low graphics processing unit (GPU) memory consumption required by practical clinical applications. Thus, we propose a multi-residual two-dimensional (2D) network integrating spatial correlation for WHS. The network performs slice-by-slice segmentation on three-dimensional cardiac CT images in a 2D encoder–decoder manner. In the network, a convolutional long short-term memory skip connection module is designed to perform spatial correlation feature extraction on the feature maps at different resolutions extracted by the sub-modules of the pre-trained ResNet-based encoder. Moreover, a decoder based on the multi-residual module is designed to analyze the extracted features from the perspectives of multi-scale and channel attention, thereby accurately delineating the various substructures of the heart. The proposed method is verified on a dataset of the multi-modality WHS challenge, an in-house WHS dataset, and a dataset of the abdominal organ segmentation challenge. The dice, Jaccard, average symmetric surface distance, Hausdorff distance, inference time, and maximum GPU memory of the WHS are 0.914, 0.843, 1.066 mm, 15.778 mm, 9.535 s, and 1905 MB, respectively. The proposed network has high accuracy, fast inference speed, minimal GPU memory consumption, strong robustness, and good generalization. It can be deployed to clinical practical applications for WHS and can be effectively extended and applied to other multi-organ segmentation fields. Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) has been considered a key feature of next-generation wireless networks. This paper investigates the joint design of the radar receive filter and dual-functional transmit waveform for the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) ISAC system. While optimizing the mean square error (MSE) of the radar receive spatial response and maximizing the achievable rate at the communication receiver, besides the constraints of full-power radar receiving filter and unimodular transmit sequence, we control the maximum range sidelobe level, which is often overlooked in existing ISAC waveform design literature, for better radar imaging performance. To solve the formulated optimization problem with convex and nonconvex constraints, we propose an inexact augmented Lagrangian method (ALM) algorithm. For each subproblem in the proposed inexact ALM algorithm, we custom-design a block successive upper-bound minimization (BSUM) scheme with closed-form solutions for all blocks of variable to enhance the computational efficiency. Convergence analysis shows that the proposed algorithm is guaranteed to provide a stationary and feasible solution. Extensive simulations are performed to investigate the impact of different system parameters on communication and radar imaging performance. Industrial Internet of Things can improve critical infrastructure in energy, transportation, and manufacturing. However, IIoT device and system integration opened security weaknesses that bad actors may exploit, causing huge disruptions and financial losses. IoT network security and privacy must be prioritized to protect key infrastructure. IIoT security issues and solutions are examined in this research. First, we take a look at the state of security and the unique risks that industrial IoT devices are up against, including hacking, illegal access, and cyber-physical assaults. Then, to lessen the impact of these dangers, we investigate cutting-edge security solutions, such as authentication, encryption, and access control systems. Building a robust security architecture specifically for IIoT applications is one of the main goals of the project. To improve safety and anonymity, this system uses cutting-edge innovation like blockchain, AI, and edge computing. We also talk about how privacy-preserving methods like differential privacy and anonymization are important for keeping sensitive information safe while allowing data sharing for analysis and operations. We assess the efficacy of the suggested security protocols and procedures using a battery of case studies and simulations. Reducing the attack surface and improving the resilience of IIoT systems can be achieved by a multi-layered security approach that includes effective privacy protections. We conclude by outlining our research's larger implications, which include the importance of standardization, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder collaboration in ensuring the safe and privacy-protecting deployment of IIoT technologies in vital infrastructure. Protecting vital infrastructure from cyber threats is our ultimate goal, and our work helps build IIoT systems that are more secure and dependable.

Gradient-based iterative algorithms have been widely used to solve optimization problems, including resource sharing and network management. When system parameters change, it requires a new solution independent of the previous parameter settings from the iterative methods. Therefore, we propose a learning approach that can quickly produce optimal solutions over a range of system parameters for constrained optimization problems. Two Coupled Long Short-Term Memory networks (CLSTMs) are proposed to find the optimal solution. The advantages of this framework include: (1) near-optimal solution for a given problem instance can be obtained in few iterations during the inference, (2) enhanced robustness as the CLSTMs can be trained using system parameters with distributions different from those used during inference to generate solutions. In this work, we analyze the relationship between minimizing the loss functions and solving the original constrained optimization problem for certain parameter settings. Extensive numerical experiments using datasets from Alibaba reveal that the solutions to a set of nonconvex optimization problems obtained by the CLSTMs reach within 90% or better of the corresponding optimum after 11 iterations, where the number of iterations and CPU time consumption are reduced by 81% and 33%, respectively, when compared with the gradient descent with momentum. © 2015 IEEE.

Mobile edge computing (MEC) paves the way to alleviate the burden of energy and computation of mobile users (MUs) by offloading tasks to the network edge. To enhance the MEC server utilization by optimizing its resource allocation, a well-designed pricing strategy is indispensable. In this paper, we consider the edge offloading scenario with energy harvesting devices, and propose a dynamic differential pricing system (DDPS), which determines the price per unit time according to the usage of computing resources to improve the edge server utilization. Firstly, we propose an offloading decision algorithm to decide whether to conduct the offloading operation and how much data to be offloaded if conducted, the algorithm determines offloading operation by balancing the energy harvested with the energy consumed. Secondly, for the offloading case, we formulate the game between the MUs and the server as a Stackelberg game, and propose a differential pricing algorithm to determine the optimal computing resources required by MUs. Furthermore, the proposed algorithm also reallocates computing resources for delay-sensitive devices while server resources are surplus after the initial allocation, aiming to make full use of the server computing resources. In this paper, we explore the implications of cloud- based platforms for agricultural data management and decision support systems, including the benefits, drawbacks, and potential developments. Cloud computing has thus played a very big role in promoting efficiency and productivity in agriculture through providing better data storage, data processing, and better decision making tools. From the review of the various platforms it was realized that the cloud solutions enhance the data management and decision support that can lead to better and faster decisions in the agricultural sector. However, there are some drawbacks, for example, data protection issues, issues of compatibility with other platforms, relatively high costs of the implementation, and the need for standardization of the data. These limitations can be considered as the factors which do not allow using the full potential of cloud-based solutions in agriculture. The study therefore recommends more research to deal with these challenges especially on the improvements in security, the integration of AI and machine learning in the system and the improvement on the costs for the smallholder farmers. Also, the problem of integrating data standards across the cloud and enhancing the compatibility of systems is of great importance to enhance the overall efficiency of cloud services. Further work in these directions is important to overcome present drawbacks and to enhance the prospects of cloud technologies in agriculture. This paper has discussed the challenges facing the agricultural sector to adopt the cloud-based platforms, thus, if these challenges are to be solved, the agricultural sector can be in a better position to improve the management of resources, sustainability and overall agricultural performance.

SETTP: Style Extraction and Tunable Inference via Dual-level Transferable Prompt Learning

Text style transfer, an important research direction in natural language processing, aims to adapt the text to various preferences but often faces challenges with limited resources. In this work, we introduce a novel method termed Style Extraction and Tunable Inference via Dual-level Transferable Prompt Learning (SETTP) for effective style transfer in low-resource scenarios. First, SETTP learns source style-level prompts containing fundamental style characteristics from high-resource style transfer. During training, the source style-level prompts are transferred through an attention module to derive a target style-level prompt for beneficial knowledge provision in low-resource style transfer. Additionally, we propose instance-level prompts obtained by clustering the target resources based on the semantic content to reduce semantic bias. We also propose an automated evaluation approach of style similarity based on alignment with human evaluations using ChatGPT-4. Our experiments across three resourceful styles show that SETTP requires only 1/20th of the data volume to achieve performance comparable to state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods. In tasks involving scarce data like writing style and role style, SETTP outperforms previous methods by 16.24%. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common cancer in men, making early detection crucial for effective treatment. This study explores the efficacy of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models in detecting PCa lesions using radiomics features derived from multiparametric MRI data. Leveraging a dataset of 7621 retrospective and 2132 prospective cases from 12 clinical centers across Europe, we compared the performance of various ML (LASSO, Random Forest, SVM, XGBoost) and DL models (CNN, MLP, Transformer, CNN&MLP). Radiomic features were extracted and refined through a robust feature selection process. Models' performance was evaluated through nested cross-validation (CV) and externally. The CNN&MLP model achieved the highest ROC AUC (0.86) and PR AUC (0.90) in CV, while LASSO showed consistent generalization in external validation. Our findings indicate that DL models excel in high-dimensional data analysis but face challenges in generalizing to external datasets, highlighting the importance of external validation for clinical applicability.

The task of detecting fraud in credit card transactions is crucial to ensure the security and stability of a financial system, as well as to enforce customer confidence in digital payment systems. Historically, credit card companies have used rule-based approaches to detect fraudulent transactions, but these have proven inadequate due to the complexity of fraud strategies and have been replaced by much more powerful solutions based on machine learning or deep learning algorithms. Despite significant progress, the current approaches to fraud detection suffer from a number of limitations: for example, it is unclear whether some transaction features are more effective than others in discriminating fraudulent transactions, and they often neglect possible correlations among transactions, even though they could reveal illicit behaviour. In this paper, we propose a novel credit card fraud detection (CCFD) method based on a transaction behaviour-based hierarchical gated network. First, we introduce a feature-oriented extraction module capable of identifying key features from original transactions, and such analysis is effective in revealing the behavioural characteristics of fraudsters. Second, we design a transaction-oriented extraction module capable of capturing the correlation between users' historical and current transactional behaviour. Such information is crucial for revealing users' sequential behaviour patterns. Our approach, called transactional-behaviour-based hierarchical gated network model (TbHGN), extracts two types of new transactional features, which are then combined in a feature interaction module to learn the final transactional representations used for CCFD. We have conducted extensive experiments on a real-world credit card transaction dataset with an increase in average F1 between 1.42% and 6.53% and an improvement in average AUC between 0.63% and 2.78% over the state of the art. © 2025 Institute of electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. With the growing demand for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) capable of precise navigation in intricate environments, achieving accurate depth control becomes pivotal. This paper introduced a pioneering study on depth control for an "Egg-shaped" underwater robot (EUR) utilizing the backstepping sliding mode control (BSMC) algorithm. By analyzing the kinematic and kinetic models of the EUR, a specialized control system was devised. This paper significantly advanced underwater robotics by presenting a robust and efficient solution for depth control, employing Lyapunov function in stability analysis. Simulation and experimental results validated the performance of the proposed algorithm in regulating the robot's depth across diverse operating conditions, surpassing traditional control methods in terms of stability and accuracy.
