Parameter tuning can be a lengthy and exhaustive process. Furthermore, optimal parameter sets are usually not only problem specific, but also problem instance specific. Adaptive genetic algorithms perform parameter control during the run, thus increasing algorithm performance. These mechanisms may also enable the algorithm to escape local optima more efficiently. In this paper, we describe the fitness landscape for permutation based problems, and define local and global optima, as well as the notion of adjacency of solutions. Using these definitions we show why it makes sense to combine multiple genetic operators adaptively, give examples of this, and show that an algorithm combining multiple mutation operators has a greater chance of escaping local optima. We then describe the adaptive tournament genetic algorithm (ATGA) which uses multiple mutation operators, describing a variety of used adaptation mechanisms and conclude the paper by showing experimental results.

In this paper, we propose a new approach to detecting vulnerabilities in Web applications. Majority of current Web application vulnerability scanners rely on detecting vulnerabilities by detecting common error messages or input vectors used in testing. The method we propose in this paper is based on detecting unusual behavior of a Web application. Differences between pages are analyzed by examining page structure, i.e. HTML elements. Variations from standard page structure could indicate raised errors in the Web application and could indicate a vulnerability. Issues that arise in building such a tool will be described here.

This paper presents a GPS based system for naval navigation and the development process of such system. In this paper path finding algorithm for naval navigation is proposed that is appropriate for implementation on pocket PC device. The implementation of the proposed system requires some specific adapting of a number of other algorithms and methods to run well on embedded systems like pocket PC device. Experimental results are presented using developed configuration. Adriatic coast is used as surroundings, because it is highly indented, so it presents one of the most demanding challenges.
