We have started production of an information and control network TC-net 1G on a commercial basis. TC-net 1G connects control devices at high speed in supervision and control systems, such as general industry and infrastructure systems. TC-net 1G, developed based on technologies of TC-net, has accelerated transmission performance to 1 Gbps, enhanced surveillance of RAS (Reliability Availability Serviceability) information and improved reliability. By development of TC-net 1G, construction of a larger-scale system is attained in fields, such as steel rolling, paper, waterworks, sewer and food. As international standardization activities, the specification of TCnet1G is being proposed towards 3rd edition of IEC61784-2 to be published in 2013.

This work introduces design, fabrication and characterization of an optical based integrated flow rate sensor where the light- fluid interaction is maximized by allowing the liquid and light to propagate along the same direction. This is achieved by placing a 10 μm deep channel between two waveguides. The optical waveguides are tapered down to the channel width to feed the light in and out, where tapering is done to minimize the coupling and propagation loss. The output signal is detected by a fast receiver (higher than 1MHz) that records the dynamic change of the light intensity when fluid flows through the channel. The initial results showed a dynamic range of measurement up to 0.18.

The ferroelectric domains in Y-cut LiNbO3 were obtained by e-beam irradiations in the SEM. Due to a serial set of local irradiations, the planar domain gratings with period Λ = 3, 7 and 20 μm were fabricated and examined after chemical etching. The same technique was used for domain grating formations in Ti in-diffused Y-cut LiNbO3 optical waveguides. In the Ti:LiNbO3, domain gratings were located in the depth of the waveguide under the crystal surface. The best experimental conditions were used to record rows of gratings with Λ = 7 μm in Y-cut Ti:LiNbO 3. The second harmonic generation on these planargratings has been obtained. Data visualization based on geographic maps introduces issues when lots of geo-spatial data have to be shown. These issues are caused by usual non-uniform density of the data. Map symbols that have to be seen can overlap in some parts of the map and become unclear;on the other hand, there can be poorly filled, unused space on the map. This paper proposes a method for continuous area deformation dependent on the amount of information (attributes) that need to be displayed. Two instances of algorithm have been realized, one that shows qualitative results and the other that generates results faster. This shows practical realization of different map visualization using cartograms where different layouts can be realized with adjustable application parameters that can manipulate with results area, shape and topology. © 2009 by MIPRO.

To make industrial control applications, many control flow diagrams are drawn using the domain graphic symbols. There are some well-known standards of control flow diagram, for example, IEC61131-3 programming languages for PLC, and ISA/SAMA functional diagram for process control. Although the integrated control systems that may cover both PLC and process control domains were launched, they had a typical problem that the most of programming environment were not integrated for each domain. For example, most of process control engineers have strong rejection reaction to IEC61131-3 programming. The authors solved this problem practically, studying the extensible custom symbol and the extended control flow diagram, and applying them to IEC61131-3 programming environment for the true integration

This paper reports how VLSI cost metrics (area, delay, power) of residue reverse converters scale with the cardinality and dynamic range of moduli sets. The study uses CMAC reverse converters, reported previously by the authors to be the most efficient known to date in terms of area and delay. In all, 134 reverse converters with dynamic ranges from 32 to 120 bits and set cardinalities ranging from 4 to 20 are actually constructed and analyzed. It is seen that area, delay and power costs are cardinality insensitive once the cardinality exceeds a threshold (usually between five to eight). For cardinalities beyond this threshold, conversion costs are essentially dynamic range dependent. This insensitivity is explained in detail by noting the counterbalancing effects of the various sub-units of a CMAC reverse converter. Since practical implementations of RNS usually employ cardinalities beyond the abovementioned thresholds, the significance of this study is its conclusion that increasing the set cardinality in most implementations will have a marginal, if any, effect on VLSI reverse conversion costs.

The authors propose an extension to the popular {2/sup n/-1, 2/sup n/, 2/sup n/+1} moduli set by adding a fourth modulus "2/sup n+1/+1. This extension leads to higher parallelism while keeping the forward conversion and modular arithmetic units simple. The main challenge of efficient reverse conversion is met by three techniques described for the first time. Firstly, we reverse convert linear combinations of moduli hence reducing the number of non-zero bits in the Booth encoded multiplicands from n to merely 2. Secondly, it is shown that division by 3, if introduced at the right stage, can be implemented very efficiently and can, in turn, reduce the cost of the converter. To implement VLSI efficient modulo reduction, we propose two techniques-multiple split tables (MST) and a modified division algorithm (MDA). It is shown that the MST can reduce exponential ROM requirements to quadratic ROM requirements while the MDA can reduce these further to linear requirements. As a result of these innovations, the proposed reverse converter uses simple shift and add operations and needs a lookup with only 6 entries. The delay of the converter is approximately 10n+13 full adder delays and the area cost is quadratic in n.

This paper describes B-spline interpolation and compares it with other reconstruction methods, especially in three-dimensional space. We first consider the B-spline bases in the terms of convolution in signal processing. The presented analysis requires careful usage of continuous and discrete representation of B-spline. Emphasis is given to the important difference between B-spline interpolation and approximation. The difference is shown through frequency domain analysis, so we derive frequency responses of the B-spline interpolation and approximation. We conclude by demonstrating the use of several reconstruction filters and appropriate gradient estimators in volume rendering. Exact reconstruction in volume visualization is very important in many industrial applications, such as material cavity control.

The volume data is generally in the form of the large array of numbers. In order to render the object hidden in the volumetric data, we need to reconstruct or interpolate data values between the samples. The novelty presented in this paper is B-spline interpolation in the volumetric space. We show that this approach is better than currently used methods. We also present a hybrid approach, analyze this approach in frequency domain and compare it to B-spline interpolation. To enhance the quality during the volume visualization process it is important to enhance the quality of the reconstruction. It is of crucial importance to explore different undesired effects. If better reconstruction is performed the more accurate result of volume visualization process is achieved.
