There is no doubt about the presence of iron sand around the west coast of West Sumatra. Several studies have been carried out, but in Ulakan Tapakis area is still under observation, and no investigation of its potential and distribution. One of the methods that can provide models and subsurface descriptions is using goelectrical resistivity method. The geoelectrical application in Ulakan Tapakis was used Wenner-Schlumberger array into 4 section. The section was designed perpendicular to the beach with a length of 47 meters for short lines and 470 meters for long line, the distance between sections was about 65 meters. The results obtained in the form of pseudosection types. Each section describes the distribution and lithology of rocks below the surface. The combination of all sections gives an overview of the iron sand model at Ulakan Tapakis. From the model obtained the results of geoelectrical measurements with the Wenner-Schlumberger array, the distribution of iron sand can be found along the coast of the study area at a depth of 0.7 m - 3 m in short line and 40 m in long line with resistivity values ranging from 52 - 289 ωm © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A studies using the resistivity method have been carried out to determine the potential of iron sand in Ulakan Tapakis West Sumatra. This study aims to establish the potential 3D modelling of iron sand. Wenner array is used to determine location of anomalies by taking 5 sections which has 180 meter length. The distance of the electrode used is 3.9 meters. Generally, Ulakan Tapakis has 3 main components of alluvial deposits, namely a layer of top sand (upper sand), middle sand, and a layer of iron sand which is divided into 2 layers, namely the bottom sand and the iron sand layer which has a resistivity value ranging from 9.53 -14135 ωm. These layers have different resistivity values depending on the constituent material. The existance of iron sand is located at depths of 0-6 meter below sea surface, with range of resistivity is 9.53-1000 ωm. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Fuel cell membranes can be used in various ways to achieve zero-emission transport and energy systems, which offer a promising way to power production due to their higher efficiency compared to the internal combustion engine and the eco-environment. Perfluoro sulfonic acid membranes used for proton exchange membranes (PEMs) have certain drawbacks, like higher fuel permeability and expense, lower mechanical and chemical durability, and proton conductivity under low humidity and above 80 °C temperature. Researchers have drawn their attention to the production of polymer electrolyte membranes with higher proton conductivity, thermal and chemical resilience, maximum power density, lower fuel permeability, and lower expense. For sustainable clean energy generation, a review covering the most useful features of advanced material-associated membranes would be of great benefit to all interested communities. This paper endeavors to explore several types of novel inorganic fillers and crosslinking agents, which have been incorporated into membrane matrices to design the desired properties for an advanced fuel cell system. Membrane parameters such as proton conductivity, the ability of H 2 transport, and the stability of the membrane are described. Research directions for developing fuel cell membranes are addressed based on several challenges suggested. The technological advancement of nanostructured materials for fuel cell applications is believed to significantly promote the future clean energy generation technology in practice.

Thixoforming process is one method to improve the mechanical properties, especially in the manufacture of magnesium alloy components. This method is an alternative to lightweight structures and simultaneously efficient use of raw materials, fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. The aim of this study is investigates the effect of ZnO nanoparticles addition on grain refinement of Mg-Al-Zn alloy by thixoforming. In these experiments, ZnO nanoparticles added from 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 wt. % to Mg-Al-Zn alloy and thixoforming temperature set-up at 530°C. The results showed that the increasing of weight % ZnO nanoparticles cause decreasing grain size average of Mg-Al-Zn alloy both as-cast and thixoforming. On 0.5 wt. % ZnO addition was obtained grain refinement 39.87 μm (decreased 29.29%) and hardness 73.80 HB (increased 53.94%) compared to as-cast. © 2019 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Separation of plastics with similar specific gravities (SG) has been one of the biggest challenges in the recycling of mixed-plastic wastes. To tackle this problem, the authors developed the hybrid jig, a technique that combines the concepts of surface wettability from flotation and gravity separation using jigs to separate plastics with similar SGs. Mixed-plastic wastes are composed of particles having a wide variety of shapes and sizes (i.e., particle geometry), and both of which will likely have strong effects on the separation efficiency of hybrid jig separation similar to our previous observations on conventional jig separation. In this study, the volume of bubbles attached to plastic particles with different SGs (polyethylene terephthalate (PET;SG of 1.31) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC;SG of 1.38)), sizes (2-8 mm), and shapes (disk-like to sphere-like) were measured during water pulsation. © 15th International Symposium on East Asian Resources Recycling Technology, EARTH 2019. Integrated mine closure planning adherence Index: a new approach for evaluating mine closure plans

The evaluation of adherence to Integrated Mine Closure Planning (IMCP) contributes to improved closure risk management and strategy development, facilitating the achievement of desired closure outcomes and intended post-mining land use. IMCP should provide mining companies with an early identification of risks, build a positive legacy to affected communities, encompassing physical and chemical stability, socio-economic transition, and financial considerations. Based on international best practices and legal requirements for mine closure, an Integrated Mine Closure Planning Adherence Index (IMCPAI) was developed and applied to 8 closure plans from iron mines located in Brazil. The IMCPAI is a weighted checklist comprising 21 requirements, distributed across four categories: (i) knowledge base, (ii) integrated mine closure planning, (iii) stakeholder engagement and economic and social transition, and (iv) execution of closure actions. The performance of each category was evaluated, and the respective adherence level was calculated. The majority of the mines demonstrated a moderate adherence to IMCP evaluated. The integrated closure planning category achieved the best overall performance, suggesting a significant gap between theoretical principles and practical application of mine closure on the other analyzed categories. The IMCPAI proposed in the present study has the potential to enhance the quality of mine closure plans. It enables mining companies and interested parties to assess the efficacy of their IMCP strategies at the outset of a mine's operations, allowing adjustments and improvements in time to ensure the achievement of closure objectives. © 2025

Luk Ulo Melange Complex is a Pre-Tertiary rock formation consisting of various lithological background and complicated geological structure. Located in Northern Kebumen Regency, this rock is originally interpreted as products of tectonic process caused by paleo-subduction between Indian Oceanic Plate beneath Eurasian Plate in Cretaceous age. According to previous study on geological surface investigation shows that the melange complex is tectonically overlain by Tertiary sedimentary formation. On the contrary, geophysical study of the subsurface condition of the area is still under discussion due to limited of measured data. In order to obtain detailed subsurface image, gravity profiling was measured and interpreted across both Tertiary and pre-Tertiary rock. Frequency domain filter and designed moving average filter were used to separate residual and regional anomaly. The results denote gravity value of residual anomaly varying from -5 to +5 mGal, while regional anomaly is ranging from 150-180 mGal respectively. The preliminary interpretation was developed by taking into account the geological information and also the data that was collected during field campaign. Overall, high gravity anomaly is interpreted as diabase intrusion in the middle of research area. Meanwhile, low gravity anomaly indicated clay rich rock material related to matrix content of Luk-Ulo Melange Complex in the northern area. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

A pilot Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project in Indonesia is planned to be implemented in Gundih area, Central Java Province in Indonesia. Prior to conducting CO2 injection, reservoir characterisations have to study thoroughly to assure that the reservoir is to meet with CCS standard requirements. The Jepon well in the Gundih fied was proposed as a suitable site for CO2 injection. The decision was made to proceed with a comprehensive site assessment and geological modelling of the Jepon area. This site was selected based on the reason the presence of a potentially suitable reservoir (Ngrayong Sandstone) and primary and secondary seals (Bulu Limestone and Wonocolo claystone). Using logging data, petrophysics and rock physics model are used to evaluate potential of the CO2 injection site. Permeability results from petrophysics calculations and recent injection tests show very small;whilst porosity is relatively high. This can be caused by fractures mostly are not connected. Hence, rock physics for the reservoir is evaluated and modelled as anisotropy or Vertical Tranverse Isotropy (VTI) in which fractures with preferred orientation. Stiffness calculations for VTI medium with different aspect ratio shows consistent with low permeability result. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

According to the complex and changeable charging environment of mobile energy storage charging vehicles, this paper proposes an intelligent flexible charging strategy based on queuing theory for the single control strategy of traditional mobile energy storage charging vehicles. This strategy takes the optimal charging time as the optimization goal and dynamically adjusts the output power of the charger. At the same time, flexible charging also involves DC / DC module parallel current sharing and other issues. In this paper, a DCDC converter is used to control the charge and discharge of the battery pack. A charge and discharge controller for the energy storage battery pack based on PI control is designed. The energy storage battery pack During the charging process, the current closed-loop control realizes constant current charging, and the voltage outer loop current inner loop double closed loop control realizes constant voltage charging;during the discharge of the energy storage battery pack, the double closed loop is used to stabilize the battery pack discharge voltage, which is established in the Matlab environment The simulation model of charge and discharge of energy storage battery pack was obtained, and the simulation results verified the correctness and feasibility of the battery pack structure and control strategy. © 2020 IEEE.

Groundwater modeling in nickel mining of Langgikima, North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi

Nickel mining activities with an open-pit mining system (surface mining) are considered as activities that have an impact on environmental damage. One issue is the impacts on groundwater. Therefore, accurate groundwater flow modeling is significant for the prevention and control of potential environmental damage. The research objectives were to build a conceptual model of the hydrogeology of the groundwater system using numerical methods, to calibrate the model by testing the Parameter Sensitivity Analysis (PSA), and to analyze the pattern of groundwater flow in the study area. The results showed that the aquifer system in the study area is a semi-unconfined aquifer. The lithology of the aquifer layer is dominated by a mixture of clay, silt, sand, gravel, and boulder. Hydraulic conductivities of aquifer layers were 5×10-6 m/sec while the conductivities of the aquitards 1 and 2 were 1.4×10−7 m/sec, 5×10−8 m/sec. Additionally, the recharge of the modeled area was 1,253.35 mm/year. The results of the sensitivity analysis of the model are most sensitive to the decrease in hydraulic conductivity in ultramafic rocks. In contrast the recharge parameter, the model is most sensitive to the addition of recharge values. The groundwater flow pattern generally from the west to the east to the northeast part of the research area.
