Theoretical studies have been conducted on the application of solar air heater for preheating the air of broiler house. The air heating system of broiler house was use a gas air heater and equipped with rocks bed as the thermal storage medium. The study was conducted for the broiler house with the capacity of 30,000 chickens, which is a house with a size of 100 m x 12 m and has two floors, each floor with a capacity of 15,000 chickens. This study aims to determine the potential amount of savings the use of LPG and operating costs of heating chicken coops during the brooding period (2 weeks of starting the chicken farm) on a chicken coop that using the additional solar air heater and heat storage medium compared to air gas heater only. The study shows that the proposed heating system can save gas usage as much as 613.06 kg per harvest cycle. However, the proposed heating system requires additional electrical energy to operate the fan/blower, amounting to 700.66 kWh per crop cycle. The operational cost savings of the proposed heating system is IDR 6,066,358,-per crop cycle (the calculation basis as of November 2015). © 2018 IEEE.

Maintenance is an activity to maintain facilities or equipment of the factory and make repairs or adjustments to the necessary replacement to satisfactory condition of production operations in accordance with what is planned. Companies often experience damage to the Blowing machine so that interconnected machines cannot be operated. The purpose of this study was to improve the performance of Blowing line 4 engines with the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) method at PT. Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia Medan Unit, also to determine the level of Blowing machine performance based on the analysis of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) at PT. Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia Medan Unit. The method used in this study is the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) method to measure Ishikawa's treatments and diagrams to compare and propose low engine performance. The results of data processing shows machine maintenance has not comply the OEE standards in July 81.48%, August 81.48%, September 78.07%, October 81.22%, November 78.08%, and those that fill the standards in June amount to 86.48%, with losses that most affect the effectiveness of equipment in line 4 blowroom machine is Equipment Failure Losses of 11.42% based on the results of the study, the proposed improvement in engine performance is to provide training to employees, and increase operator awareness. against engine damage, thus the production process will run smoothly. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Analysis of number of fruit loss in the fruit distribution process: Case study of banana fruit

Banana fruit has the highest production rate in Indonesia with a total production of 7.01 million tons/year. However, the amount of fruit waste from the supply chain that supports the production is still uncertain. This study is aimed to analyze the production of fruit waste from the distribution process and to provide some suggestions in optimizing the its process. Data were obtained through direct sampling on three stages i.e. farmers, wholesalers, and retailers. The parameters analyzed temperature, humidity, and waste generation. The results showed that farmers did not produce waste because all the postharvest fruits were sold to the wholesalers. The wholesalers generated average waste 1.98% per total inventory. The retailers produced 2 types of waste from transportation with the average waste generation of 0.67% per total inventory, and daily waste with the average generation of 2.53% per total inventory. Based on this study, improvement in handling systems at distribution process are needed to prevent waste generation. The implementation of countermeasures is also needed by applying the circular economy to improve the efficiency, minimize the waste generation, and improve the profits. The potential actions than can be implemented are utilizing the waste for animal feed and composting.

Assessment of safety performance level on simple urban residential building: Case study at Bogor city Indonesia

Simple urban residential building must meet the technical requirements set forth in the building and structure law number 28 of 2002. In the city of Bogor, especially in the densely populated village of Kayumanis, there are areas that have the potential of landslides. In that area, there are some houses that have been damaged by the movement of land and landslides that can threaten the safety of its inhabitants. Therefore they need to stay aware about potential collapse of several parts of house structures, and then understand how to evacuate to safer area, outside of the house after the incident was stopped. Based on these conditions, it is necessary to evaluate buildings in accordance with FEMA on the safety level of buildings. The structure and modeling analysis using SAP 2000-V10 and Indonesia Standard. Specification of simple urban residential building using the reinforced concrete material with the quality of concrete (fc') 17 MPa, 15x15 cm column dimension, 15x18 cm beam dimension and 4D12 BJTP main reinforcement, and shear reinforcement D8-20. The results of the analysis of urban residential building structures shown in 3D form, obtained values for column structure elements almost close to failure are marked with orange color, while for the element of the beam structure is declared safe marked with green color. From result of modeling analysis referring to FEMA 356 obtained value C0 = 1.0; C1 = 1.378; C2 = 1.0; C3 = 1.0; Sa = 1.011; and Te = 0.2206, which states the value of the displacement target is 0.02 m which is categorized to be at 'The Life Safety' (LS) performance level. This means that if there is a movement of land, the structure of the house is declared stable and has adequate service capacity and damage non-structural part is still controlled.

The Indonesia high-speed train traveler preference analysis (case study: Jakarta-Bandung)

This study assesses the potential passenger preference of the High-Speed Train infrastructure, which connects Jakarta – Bandung. The study aims to understand the potential HST passenger travel characteristics, which is important in predicting the HST demand. This study conducts a roadside interview using a stated preference methodology for several transport modes passenger serving Jakarta-Bandung, namely; private vehicle, train, intercity bus and paratransit. Moreover, the study extends in observing the short trip passenger preference. The analysis defines that the preferred fares are 300.000 (20 USD), which is increased compared to 2016 studies. The forecasting results of the demand for fast trains based on the probability of modal transfers amounted to 54,764 passengers per day with details of the number of trips Jakarta-Bandung was 27,005 while the Bandung-Jakarta trip was 27,759. The results for a significant difference between the total daily trips of Bandung-Jakarta and Jakarta-Bandung have already been seen since the initial statistical analysis where according to survey data, people who travelled Bandung-Jakarta were more elastic compared to Jakarta-Bandung trips. This finding shows clearly that the passenger traffic vehicle capitulates with the current road traffic highway conditions. Note that they are more uncertainty in condition on road traffic in comparison to the railway passenger. In more details, sensitivity analysis indicates that the passenger from Jakarta is more comfortable to shift using the HST compared to the passenger from Bandung. There is an indication that the Jakarta people have a higher value of time as they have a higher preference to shift toward faster transport mode compared to Bandung people. This information is also useful for operation policy, including ticketing differentiation based on the travel time period and travel origin-destination.

Designing louvers toward optimum daylight performance in Indonesia: a parametric study

Architecture has a strong relationship with the daylight universe. It implicates further occupants' behaviour toward visual comforts, healthiness, and energy consumption. The daylight simulation in the early phase of design benefits the architect in predicting the possibilities of daylight-related target goals during the design process. A shading system is one of the strategies in approaching passive design to prevent an excessive amount of undesirable daylight intensity. This paper investigates different sun louvers shading patterns and their relation to the Useful Daylight Illuminance (UDI) in the context of Indonesia, presented by incorporating the EPW file of Jakarta. Parametric and multi-objective optimization has been used to optimize, explore, and map the design possibilities based on the louver shading component as dynamic parameters. Rhinoceros and Grasshopper, as parametric-based modelling software, were used as the primary modelling platform, while the Honeybee and Ladybug plugin were used to undergo the daylight-related environmental analysis. The design exploration iterates 2.160 design solutions with a value of dynamic parameters and the targeted UDI value embedded in each. The results show that the solution founded from iteration process has more areas of illuminance within 300 lx to 500 lx by about 15%.

Optimum Propeller Interaction Analysis of Harbourtug With Azimuth Thruster

Determine the safety of tug operation at sea, especially in narrow shipping areas such as port areas, it is necessary to pay attention to the maneuverability of ships and the performance of the ship's steering system. In ship maneuvering, a specially designed thruster with 360 degrees side thrust with a small turning angle is needed in order to produce a good ship movement performance. In this study, the authors designed a tugboat propeller ka-series four blades. The propeller can move 360 degrees so that the distribution of power is evenly distributed in all directions. The system is expected to provide extra thrust when needed in the process of maneuvering and docking the ship. Equipped with hydraulics used to quickly lift and lower the thruster and pull it back into the hull when not in use. The analysis results show that each propeller variation such as the difference in thrust value, torque value and resulting efficiency. From the analysis model, the highest thrust value was obtained in the first propeller model with a variation of P/D 1, AE/A0 0.45 valued at 306201.4. The lowest torque value is generated in the third propeller model with a variation of P/D 0.6, AE/A0 0.65 value at - 22400.2 Nm. Harbourtug requires a high thrust value, so it is advisable to use the first Propeller model with variations of P/D 1, AE/A0 0.45 The highest efficiency value is obtained in the first propeller model valued at 0.7151.

We have been involved in developing the use of EFB fibers for several light structural products, such as speed bumps, parking stoppers, helmets, and horse shoes. This paper presents our current research work on parking bumper made of EFB fibers to be utilized for power generation. The products are designed and produced in full scale covering the whole width of vehicles passing over the bumpers. The ideas are how to reserve kinetic energy harvested from the vehicles to convert into electricity to be stored in a battery. To obtain a structural integrity-proof material, the speed bumps were subjected several tests, e.g. static and impact tests as well as live body test using the kinetic energy obtained from vehicles pass over the speed bumps. For this, a speed bump station parallel to street zebra-cross was prepared. It was obtained that A-5 concrete foam type is suitable for 3B class road. The structural response of speed bumps were checked using ANSYS 17.0. © 2018 Owned by the authors, published by EDP Sciences.

Photonic technologies continue to drive the quest for new optical materials with unprecedented responses. A major frontier in this field is the exploration of nonlocal (spatially dispersive) materials, going beyond the local, wavevector-independent assumption traditionally adopted in optical material modeling. The growing interest in plasmonic, polaritonic, and quantum materials has revealed naturally occurring nonlocalities, emphasizing the need for more accurate models to predict and design their optical responses. This has major implications also for topological, nonreciprocal, and time-varying systems based on these material platforms. Beyond natural materials, artificially structured materials—metamaterials and metasurfaces—can provide even stronger and engineered nonlocal effects, emerging from long-range interactions or multipolar effects. This is a rapidly expanding area in the field of photonic metamaterials, with open frontiers yet to be explored. In metasurfaces, in particular, nonlocality engineering has emerged as a powerful tool for designing strongly wavevector-dependent responses, enabling enhanced wavefront control, spatial compression, multifunctional devices, and wave-based computing. Furthermore, nonlocality and related concepts play a critical role in defining the ultimate limits of what is possible in optics, photonics, and wave physics. This Roadmap aims to survey the most exciting developments in nonlocal photonic materials and metamaterials, highlight new opportunities and open challenges, and chart new pathways that will drive this emerging field forward—toward new scientific discoveries and technological *** by Optica Publishing Group under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License . Shallow-Water Bathymetry Estimation at Pantai Tok Jembal, Terengganu, Malaysia Using Landsat 8 (OLI)

Satellite-derived bathymetry (SDB) emerging as a cost-effective that provides high-resolution mapping over a wide area. This method can map shallow water environment, especially that are difficult to access by boat or airplane. SDB is not for replacing the conventional bathymetry method but to assist. The accuracy of SDB does not meet current International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) S-44 standards but still can use when planning hydrographic surveying, i.e., unsurvey areas or areas with old data. In this paper, the SDB method applies to produces bathymetric mapping at Pantai Tok Jembal, Terengganu, Malaysia. Derived from Landsat 8 images and for the bathymetry method use is an empirical-based method, Log-ratio Transform. To diversify the result, utilizing three atmospheric correction approaches: No. atmospheric correction, Dark Object Subtraction (DOS), and Fast Line-of-sight Atmospheric Analysis of Hypercubes (FLAASH). The SDB result then evaluates using Single Beam Echo Sounding (SBES) ground truth data. The result indicates that Log-ratio Transform with DOS atmospheric correction produces the best result based on the error analysis. The error mostly occurs when there is no data available in the particular area due to cloud cover and shallow water area, i.e., inaccessible boat or vessel area. The error also occurs as it goes deeper area where the light is limited. In conclusion, this study successfully produces bathymetric mapping at Pantai Tok Jembal, Terengganu, Malaysia, through the SDB technique. This method strengthens the SBES data by effectively filling the data gaps; however, further research needs to fulfill this support in giving high accuracy and reliability.
