Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is Diabetes Mellitus microvascular complication, which attacks the eyes and can cause blindness. The DR examination currently is done with the fundus photography technique. The image produced by the technique is studied by the ophthalmologist manually. This research aimed to develop a computer aided diagnosis in the DR detection system using Gray Level Run Length Matrices (GLRLM) features extraction and Artificial Neural Network. This DR detection was done by Gray Level Run Length Metrices (GLRLM) texture features extraction method. Five texture features used were: Short Run Emphasis (SRE), Long Run Emphasis (LRE), Gray Level Non-Uniformity (GLN), Run Length Non-Uniformity (RLN), and Run Perecentage (RP). The five features were used as Backpropagation Artificial Neural Network input. The parameters are varied in the Backpropagation Artificial Neural Network training phase. The data used in this research were 110 retinal fundus images consists of 20 normal retinal fundus images, 45 NPDR retinal fundus images, and 45 PDR retinal fundus images. The highest accuracy result gained in the training phase is 97.14% and testing phase is 92.5%. This detection program produces a sensitivity value of 93.33% and a specificity value of 90%, therefore, it can be used as an initial indicator to detect DR.

Fire sprinkler is a safety system that is active when fire is detected. It consists of a bulb that holds the water flow and made of glass with liquid inside. The increase of temperature in its environment would expand the volume of the liquid and break the glass which leads to water spray to extinguish the fire. This study aims to model and simulate the fire sprinkler bulb and optimize several parameters related to its activation including the thickness of the bulb, type of liquid and the ratio of air and liquid inside the bulb. The modeling and simulation was performed in COMSOL Multiphysics with variation of wall thickness and liquid inside the bulb. The result showed that the best parameter was the liquid of glycerol, a height of 17.5 mm and a glass thickness of 0.1 mm, this resulted in the air to liquid ratio of 0.0042428 and breaking time of 7.2400s. This result was the fastest breaking time towards several simulations. For future study, several parameters need to be considered in the simulation to minimize the gap between the simulation and the actual condition, such as room condition, and water pressure.

Currently, EMG devices are used as recording and monitor device for muscle activity. However, the existing tools use licensed software that result in limited features provided. In addition, the inability of the tools to be able to record simultaneous movements involving several muscles at the same time is another problem regarding the design of EMG device systems. This research is done to design a multichannel EMG filter using python programming. Therefore, the design of this device consists of hardware in the form of instrumentation amplifier circuit, NI DAQ USB 6009 as data acquisition, and software part consisting of signal processing (filtering, rectifying, smoothing) and signal interface on Personal Computer (PC) using Python 2.7. The device testing is done in 2 ways, that is finance and tools from EMG itself. The instrumentation test got the strengthening value 15,241 times with linearity of 0.941. In addition, Butterworth IIR filter response is obtained according to the design of the cut off frequency of 15-450 Hz and 50 Hz. Performance testing of prototype EMG devices is done with compare of standard EMG and recording is done on normal male. Qualitatively the recording signal features using EMG of research with simultaneous movements identical to the recording signal features using standard EMG. The analysis of the results uses this type of qualitative analysis which sees how the similarity of the frequency range on the FFT of EMG research results with standard EMG in hospitals. The results obtained are the same frequency range at 15 – 450 Hz.

Recently, biomass gasification technology for supplying heat has attracted several energy-intensive industries, such as ceramics and hot mixed asphalt production, as the fossil fuel pricing escalates, and environmental issues dominate the news. It offers higher energy efficiency, raw material flexibility, a wider range of capacities, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Palm kernel shell is a potential biomass source in Indonesia as feedstock of the gasification process because of its high calorific value, abundance, and being considered as carbon-neutral and sustainable. The gasification process performance should be measured based on carbon conversion efficiency (CCE) and cold gas efficiency (CGE) to guarantee the operation's reliability. This study aims to develop the performance evaluation method of an industrial updraft woody and woody-like biomass gasification system using air as a gasifying agent for supplying heat through a thermodynamic approach. The model developed was created using licensed Aspen Plus v.11 software. The constructed model was validated with several laboratory experiments of previous researchers using various types of biomass considering carbon monoxide and hydrogen contents in the producer gas. The thermodynamic model showed a good agreement with the experimental data assessed based on root mean square error (RMSE) value for H2 and CO being 3.02 and 2.10, respectively. The developed model was implemented to evaluate performance of an asphalt mixing plant with palm kernel shell updraft gasifier as a heating source of aggregate. It was observed that at the operation condition of equivalent ratio (ER) of 0.082, the CCE and CGE were 46% and 38%, respectively. The model dictates that this installation unit should be operated at an ER value of 0.28, which is equivalent to a feedstock flowrate of 990 kg/h and an air gasifying agent flowrate of 1250 Nm3/h to achieve near to 95.20% of CCE and 76.34% of CGE. At the same time, about 50% savings on fee

Treated Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is the effluent of POME-based biogas production process. This liquid is potential as a raw material of liquid organic fertilizer, but the potassium content should be upgraded. Ash of empty palm fruit bunches (EPFB-a) which is locally available in huge amount is an attractive source of potassium. Potassium enrichment of treated POME was performed by contacting this liquid with EPFB-a in a fixed bed contactor. This research studied the effects of treated POME flow rate and height of EPFB-a bed on potassium mass transfer coefficient from solid to liquid phase in the contactor. Treated POME and EPFB-a were obtained from a crude palm oil mill in Rantau Sakti Village, Tambusai Utara Sub-district, Rokan Hulu Regency of Riau Province. The treated POME flow rates were set at 3.72; 3.36; and 2.52 L/min. EPFB-a bed height were fixed at 0.03, 0.06, and 0.09 m. The performance of this fixed bed contactor was evaluated based on extracted potassium content.

An e-Commerce company has been using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for several years, but is still constrained in its implementation, this is reflected in the number of issue/change request tickets submitted by users who have not been able to reach ideal conditions. To overcome this problem, we need an appropriate reference model, the ERP system user acceptance model in companies. The study conducted factors that influence the level of acceptance of SAP ERP users in the XYZ group to then determine a model that is able to explain practically the level of ERP system user acceptance, which in turn can produce concrete proposals to increase ERP system user acceptance. Research is quantitative descriptive using factor analysis and regression analysis methods. The research method uses a questionnaire with a total of 107 valid respondents coming from 8 company names under the XYZ group in 6 Southeast Asian countries. The conclusion of the study is that there are 24 indicators and 4 factors that influence user acceptance of the SAP ERP system. These four factors are the low contribution of the ERP system, the quality of ERP systems and data, the development of ERP systems, and also the low quality of ERP system supporters. It is hoped that by optimizing the value of the 4 factors, the XYZ group can increase user acceptance of the SAP ERP system so that the system can provide benefits expected by the company to be competitive advantage.

Halal assurance has become an important parameter in the selection of consumer goods including food products. Halal is not just regulating the content in food products, but all the processes related to the food production process. This paper presents the dynamic link between halal assurance system (HAS) implementation and performance of food manufacturing SMEs. The relationship was modeled through Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) based on literature reviews. Firstly, this research was done by identifying success factors, barriers, and enablers associated with HAS implementation. Its effect on the performance of food manufacturing SMEs was also explored. Then CLD was developed to better understand the causal relationship. For further research, this causal model can be used as a framework to study empirically the dynamics of HAS implementation in food manufacturing SMEs.

Sweet potato contains significant amount of endogenous amylase enzymes. The endogenous enzymes can be used in maltose production from sweet potatoes to carry out pre-hydrolysis of the starch to some extent, follow by complete hydrolysis using external enzymes. The main objective of the current study is to investigate the effect of particle size and solid to liquid ratio in hydrolysis process of sweet potato starch using endogenous enzymes. The extent of hydrolysis process is measured by dextrose equivalent of the crude maltose solution. Hydrolysis process consists of liquefaction and saccharification process. The liquefaction process is carried out at 71.5°C and pH 6 for 25 minutes while saccharification process is carried out at 53°C and pH 5,5 for 72 hours. Dextrose equivalent is measured using Lane-Eynon method. The results show that the access of enzyme to the potato tubers is the key to hydrolysis process. The smaller size of tubers gives bigger surface area while lower solid-to-liquid ratio increases enzyme mobility but decreases sugar concentration. Base on the results, a simulation shows that the pre-hydrolysis of sweet potatoes using endogenous enzymes can save almost a half of enzymes required for traditional hydrolysis process.

Halal is currently becoming an important factor when consuming products, especially food products. For food manufacturers, being halal-certified will improve their operational and financial performance. Unfortunately, not every food manufacturers, especially food manufacturing Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), are ready to apply the halal standard as stated in Halal Assurance System (HAS) document 23000. Therefore, it is required to design an easy-to-use but comprehensive self-assessment model to evaluate the readiness of SMEs in fulfilling HAS 23000. This paper aims to develop a measurement model of halal practice readiness of food manufacturing SMEs. The measurement model was designed based on 11 criteria of HAS 23000. The 11 criteria are grouped into four dimensions, namely technology, human resource, information, and organization. The proposed readiness assessment model covers two aspects, (i) performance, which is obtained from the halal readiness assessment, and (ii) importance of each halal dimensions which is obtained from expert judgment. The performance and importance value then analyzed using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). To describe the applicability of the model, the model was then applied to empirically assess the food manufacturing SMEs readiness through a case study. The result showed that the SME is not ready to implement the halal standard. The output from IPA suggests that firstly the SME must concentrate on the dimension of human resource. This measurement instrument can be used by food manufacturing SMEs as a self-assessment tool prior to and during halal practice implementation. Based on the self-assessment, the SME managers can evaluate their strength and weaknesses regarding HAS 23000 implementation in their organization.
