Timor natural clay as TiO2 modifier to enhance DSSC efficiency using dye chlorophyll from Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.), chromolaena odorata and lannea coromandelica leaves

The improvement of dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) efficiency using clay from Timor to modify TiO2 semiconducting material with chlorophyll dyes as photosensitisers had been conducted. This investigation employed doctor blade method for photoelectrochemical cell design and testing using chlorophyll from three different plant leaves namely Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.), (A), Lannea coromandelica (B) and Cromoleana Odorata (C). Infra-Red, X-Ray Fluorescence and X-Ray Diffraction analysis show that the main chemical compositions of the clay are SiO2 (53%), Fe2O3 (22,2%) and Al2O3 (13%) identified as a typical bentonite clay. We found that the addition of clay onto TiO2 increased the efficiency of cells using these three different source of chlorophylls (A - from 0.0437 to 0.7502%, B - from 1.203 to 1.450% and C - from 0.034 to 0.284%) potential for further purifications or activations and applications.

Synthesis of 9-(4-bromophenyl)-3,4,5,6,7,9-hexahydro-1H-xanthene-1,8(2H)-dione (compound 1) using lime and lemon juices as catalyst under free solvent condition has been successfully done. Both fruits contained citric acid, which operates as an acidic catalyst. The structure of compound 1 was confirmed by IR, H-NMR, and MS spectra. The use of the natural product as a green catalyst has some advantages, that is eco-friendly, cheap, high availability, and biodegradable. DPPH methods were used as methods to determine the antioxidant properties of compound 1. This compound has properties as antioxidant with inhibition percentage of 59.20%, 65.38%, 67.41%, 68.53%, 70.0% at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 ppm respectively.

Analysis on calculation of Vehicle Operating Cost (VOC) at Gejayan intersection before and after fly over ring road operation in Yogyakarta

Gejayan intersection is located in Sleman Regency of Yogyakarta. Fly Over will be constructed at the intersection in the ring road of Yogyakarta. The nearest intersection to the east is Gejayan Intersection with a distance of 1573.11 meters. Gejayan intersection performance in 2018 has reached saturation by having Level of Service E. The more severe conditions will occur in the next 10-20 years. If it is planned using Fly Over on the ring road in Yogyakarta connecting Gejayan intersection, the vehicles flow must have other alternative by road widening. The most important step is to predict the Vehicle Operating Costs (VOC). After the Fly Over operation, VOC can be calculated to determine the cost saving. The scenario to predict VOC was 80% of vehicle volume would pass the Fly Over, and the 20% would still use the existing road. The results showed that the cost saving of Vehicle Operating Costs (VOC) of the existing road compared to the fly over use in 2019 was IDR 37,941,324,952. In 2039 the saving would be IDR 240,232,694,488. If the road was only widened, the cost saving of VOC in 2019 would be IDR 9,084,204923 and in 2039 would be IDR 72,107,188,198.

Batik Surakarta has characteristics that not everyone understands, the difference in characteristics lies in the design characteristics, primary colors, and motifs. Surakarta's traditional batik designs and motifs have cultural values that are worth preserving. The combination of the otsu method and the canny method is used to build an application system to improve the results of identifying traditional Surakarta batik images, characteristic features, and shapes of batik patterns. Segmentation is done by partitioning the image into the object area using otsu and determining the boundary of the object using canny to get the characteristics of the image. The results of segmentation processed by selecting and extracting features by selecting quantitative information from existing features using the GLCM method. The characteristics taken are energy, homogeneity, correlation, and contrast. The results of the four characteristics classified into seven Surakarta batik classes, namely Kawung motif, Sido Mukti motif, Truntum motif, Sawat motif, Satrio Manah motif, Parang motif, and Semen Rante motif. The data used are 100 image data, which divided into 70 training data and 30 test data. The results showed that the accuracy rate was 93%.

3D model of Krakatau volcano subsurface structure based on gravity data

Krakatau is one of the volcano in Indonesia which has the destructive paroxysmal eruption. Eruption on 1883 was estimated had VEI of 6. The eruption was recorded as one among some most violent volcanic eruption event in the world. Gravity method is one of the geophysical methods that could delineate the subsurface structure base on density variation. Therefore, the objectives of this research are to reconstruct the 3D subsurface structure of the Krakatau volcano especially the approximate location and dimension of the magma chamber. The subsurface model of Krakatau was done by 3D modelling using residual anomaly map. In order to develop the status of magma chamber model, the available information on the geological map of Krakatau and surrounding area was used. Besides that, some information relative to the volcano such as the information derived from earthquake wave attenuation were utilized. The result of the study shows that position its volcano magma chamber is not directly vertical or oblique under the volcano crater and it has multiple chambers which trending northwest-southeast.

A Benchmark Model for Predicting Building Energy and Daylight Performance in The Early Phase of Design Utilizing Parametric Design Exploration

Along with the enormous impact on computational development in architecture and urban design, the way in approaching the built environment is shifting and intended to look closer to performance and evidence-based design. This development holds promise in handling complex computation to approach desired targeted design goals. However, the implementation of form-finding and design performance optimization still lacks, particularly in Japan's sub-tropical climate. This paper describes the parametric design and design exploration process's implementation through the generative algorithm platform to develop a benchmark model to predict building energy and daylight performance and find possible design solutions from the iteration process during the early phase of the design process. The variables incorporated related to the glazing ratio, the length of the overhang, and building orientation. Grasshopper, a parametric-based plugin that works in Rhinoceros, is used to arrange a parametric definition for the overall experiment. The tools used to investigate the environmental analysis and energy consumption are Ladybug and Honeybee, and the exploration process will be conducted using Design Explorer. The context will be situated in Orio district and uses the EPW file of Kitakyushu city, Fukuoka, Japan. The results of this research furthermore can potentially be a comparison for more dynamic factors.

Comparison Analysis Operastional Cost of Vehicle (VOC) Between Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road Plan with Existing Road

South Sumatra is one of the provinces whose development is very rapid in Indonesia. With the increasing development of centers of economic activity, politics, socio-culture and education make it an attraction for residents outside the city to travel to Palembang City. However, the condition of the eksisting highway which has become the driver's mainstay for travelling are not free of congestion. This causes travel time and Vehicle operational costs increase for every vehicle that passes the road. To overcome this problem, the government brought investors to build a toll road. The results of preliminary research show that people are still confused about the benefits through toll roads which are built besides travel time faster because they have to spend money to pay tolls. The main objective of this study was to determine the vehicle operating costs (VOC) using both roads with the Pacific Consultant International Method (PCI) and Industrial and Affiliate Research, Bandung Institute of Technology (LAPI ITB). Variable of the equation to determine the cost components is travel speed determined the Floating Car Method. The results show that the operational costs of vehicles (VOC) through toll roads are smaller when compared with existing roads. VOC of passenger cars that pass through the existing road in the morning Rp. 3395.45, trucks 2 axles loaded Rp. 5570.55 and trucks 2 axles with no payload of Rp. 3815.00, while if through toll road, passenger cars Rp. 2618.82 and trucks 2 axles Rp. 2918.71. In addition, information is obtained, more than 90% of drivers only consider fuel costs, they do not consider the cost of other variable variables in choosing a route.

Although it is not able to provide highly accurate results, mathematical models can provide guidance regarding the quantitative influence of design, raw material, and other operating parameters. In addition, the representation of gasification in the form of mathematical equations can help understand the importance of the influence of operating parameters on the performance of a gasifier and can give a good understanding of the mechanisms that occur. In this paper, the steam gasification of char from Pattukku coal using CaO as CO2 absorbent in updraft gasifier was investigated. The aim is to determine the influence of temperature on syngas composition. A mathematical model based on the stoichiometric approach was developed in this study and the results were compared with experimental data. A mixture of coal and lime (CaO) with a ratio of 1:1.5 is fed into the reactor. The electric heater (furnice) is turned on to raise the temperature of the reactor until it reaches the desired reaction temperature (i.e. 600, 700, and 800 °C). When the reaction temperature is reached, steam was flowed from the bottom of the reactor to be reacted with the char present in the reactor. The steam gasification carried out at a fixed temperature for 60 minutes and every 15 minutes, samples were taken for analysis. Base on the result of the experimental and calculation showed if the temperature of gasifier increase by 100 °C, the volume of gas will increase by approximately 1.7 time. The calculation showed that the proposed model could quantitatively be applied to predict the gas composition of steam gasification of char. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

One of the Sustainable Development Goals main objective is clean water and sanitation. It can be implementated by applying the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) concept in waste management. One of the villages in West Bandung Regency which is expected to be able to apply the 3R concept in waste management is Kiangroke Village. The application of this concept that began about 3 months ago by forming a garbage collector. The formation of waste management institutions in that village is expected to be realized in the future. So that, it can provide economic value to the village. For this reason, it is necessary to analyze the variables that affect formation of waste management institution in Kiangroke Village. The objectives of this study are: identification of variables that affect formation of waste management institution and mapping the relationships between variables. The data collection method was carried out through a questionnaire. There were 10 variables concidered in the research based on the Focus Group Discussion. The analysis method is the Micmac analysis. Based on the the analysis, it was found that the most influential and most dependent variables included the role of the village government, the role of the environmental awareness group, availability of facilities and infrastructure, and the budget availability. Based on this, it is necessary to have an institutional waste manager accompanied by the availability of facilities, infrastructure, and budget.

Optimal Power Flow the Sulselrabar 150 KV system before and after the penetration of wind power plants considering power loss and generation costs

Optimal Power Flow (OPF) is to optimize power flow in interconnection systems to decrease production costs and increase system reliability, quality, and stability. This research was conducted on power generation 150 KV systems in South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi, abbreviated as Sulselrabar. The number of buses is 44, 15 generator buses before penetration with the Sidrap Wind Power Plant (PLTB), and 16 bus generators after penetration with PLTB. The method used in this study is Improved Particle Swarm Optimization (IPSO) and Lagrange. The results showed that IPSO showed better results compared to Lagrange and the results of existing systems.
